Feels wild to hear Hbox talk about himself as if he’s washed up. The dude 3-0’d Leffen and beat Amsa in winners, only losing two extremely competitive sets to two of the five best players in the world. I get that he used to be so dominant and that’s a tough thing to adjust to, but he’s stayed competitive through so many paradigm shifts in Melee and has a legitimate chance at winning any tournament he enters.
he's rich now, he makes thousands of dollars every week -the thrill of winning must be what keeps he going now, of course he'll shit talk himself for losing even under these circumstances
he's rich now, he makes thousands of dollars every week -the thrill of winning must be what keeps he going now, of course he'll shit talk himself for losing even under these circumstances -it doesn't mean his competitive spirit is broken or he's having a bad time
I@@KamiSanzo I don't think he is so wealthy that he doesn't need to play the game anymore. He only gets like 2k viewers a stream and he hasn't gotten any big wins lately. Well off- maybe, but it's either melee or get a job in engineering again.
I'm happy with who won, but that ending was so tragic. You never want to see such an even, intense, back and forth set end that way. Hbox's timeout strategy is actually extremely smart and effective against Yoshi. From what I can tell from both game 5's Hbox's strategy is to play aggressive stock 1 to try and take the first stock and then play extremely defensively. This is especially effective against Yoshi who is extremely reliant on trading with his armor. And Puff's back air is so disjointed that she can hit Yoshi approaching with armor but not get counter hit by Yoshi. Meaning Yoshi will keep wracking up damage on himself while desperately trying to close out puff's stock. Basically it puts a lot of pressure on Amsa to even up the stock count quickly otherwise he'll be at too much of a deficit to close the stock gap without going for some very risky plays.
@@MangoTHC I didn't mention any names at the top portion, just that the set was close and ended tragically. I also literally put a bunch of spaces between my initial thoughts and my more detailed thoughts. idk what more you want from me. Also if you don't want to be spoiled why are you reading the comments before finishing the video in the first place?
Commentators complaining about how yoshi's super armor is the worst thing ever but have decided that a frame 1 reflector that invalidates so many other moves in the game is amazing, is peak irony. Jesus, the melee community sometimes is so unaware.
spoiler it hurts more every time he chokes a game 5, i can’t handle how painful it is to watch but i can’t look away because i hope he’ll finally win :(
I feel like if you lost 3-0, it appears optically that you didn’t put in 100% and a close game 5 shows that you tried your hardest and still lost. And especially how this one ended, it shows how much he cares about the game. Much love to hungrybox though, he put on some of the greater sets of the tournament and is still showing out on the main stage. I think Aiden’s input at 31:00 says it better than I did lol
Its just that invitationals always have a dogshit commentary. Go watch some Litvitational matches for Ult; the commentary was atleast twice as bad as this
There wete sooo many times were Amsa was ahead and did not have to approach Hbox campy back airs and got punished for it. I am so happy he won. Camping in melee is sooo boring. Amazing set up until the end, congrats to both players!

"you never make fun of someone for trying to bettter themselves" goat
The ending is truly heartbreaking
trying to fix a problem for 3 hours and then the problem just goes away
I wanted amsa to win, but not like this
why? hbox gets thousands of dollars a week for streaming, and he camped amsa a lot on this set why is it "heartbreaking"?
@@KamiSanzo there's always that one guy
@@KamiSanzo it denied amsa a more satisfying win
Hurts seeing hbox like that, I take it for granted how strong his competitive spirit is

that ending will overshadow how amazing that set was
Most depressing ending ever

What is their record when they time each other out? 1-1?
Nice spoilers, thanks bro

Top 10 saddest deaths in history
Top 10 awesome deaths*

i forgot who said it, but i think the “sick” factor of the move gives it a pass sometimes. guess that goes to show how human this game is
Damn Hbox’s speech at the end is depressing.
Yea interviewing someone right after a loss is never a good idea.
@ yeah and they kept pushing questions when clearly he wasn’t feeling it.
I loved the commentary during the game but especially after. great couch. I love melee.

You are the only mofo who put “spoiler”, honestly good job
Damn I wanted Amsa to win, but wtf
28:38 Juan wants to tell Slime to fuck off so bad 🤣
Wait what happened at the end?
I think HBox meant to wave dash, but he input too far left and it came out as a horizontal air dodge instead
Hbox got battlefielded, basically battlefield's ledges are weird, if you hold in while trying to grab ledge you risk not grabbing the ledge at all
"I think Juan is demure" cracked me up 😂 yes that's what I think when I see hbox, demure
Poor Hungrybox, that SD killed him inside….
so sad. hbox almost double eliminated one of his bracket demons 😥
Your gonna love what happens next
This has to be one of my favorite matchups, I'm honestly surprised Jiggs doesn't get completely destroyed by Yoshi
I think you have that backwards
@kiwimurray2244 LMAO finished the set yesterday and yeah you're right
O O F . That was rough.

I think the only reason he didn't grab is he got battlefielded. he prob grabs that ledge on another stage
Nice sublime reference, slime. I deem this set very good
Came to the comments to see if anyone else caught it
watching puff deflate crushed my soul
i felt that post mic talk about looking what you used to be
hbox has had two rough sets back to back, both in winners and losers finals
Did slime make a parabola reference?
The hell.... (spoilers).... aMSa is my favorite player but you don't want him to get into Grands like that.
That's not how you mark
Spoilers
@OneArmedRetroGamer I don't really care honestly 😂.
These upsets between these two is just crazy. Honestly Amsa should be doing better
Hbox is one of the most relatable player in Melee imo
26:18 Which is losers?
Tragic end but we take those
0:00 awkward start for the Box
Dammit, I got commercial on 8:00
half hour set
Truly heartbreaking ending, omg i feel so bad
These guys need to stop talking and commentate the game. They are absolutely unbearable.
i dont mind it
watching on mute is fine for me. I know what yoshi sounds like
why are there YOSHI SOUNDS on my motherfucking LACS PODCAST??? GUYS???
Calm your balls it’s not even a real tournament, this doesn’t even count for anyones ranking
Wait why wouldn’t it count for rankings tho
Dude everytime i see amsa play it feels like hes the worlds best player but he just plays yoshi
SPOILER BLOCK
I think he got battlefielded. Puff should've grapped the ledge otherwise.
deserved
wtf how is amsa comentating his own set
... What...? No.
Ha!
I don’t appreciate all the aMSa doubt from the commentators. Maybe hold some of that bias until the set is over.
Why does Melee always have the worst commentators ever
Its just that invitationals always have a dogshit commentary. Go watch some Litvitational matches for Ult; the commentary was atleast twice as bad as this
