This is an absolutely amazing video and channel. How can we help you with your mission to "help people understand the Bible"?

Hi, Chris. Thank you for this video. I was delighted to see your reference to SC. I have been exhorting my congregations to make Bible study a priority, but I have not taken the time as you did in this video to tell them how to. This inspired me to do a sermon on this very topic. Thanks again, and God bless you!

You're welcome! Glad the video was helpful. Yes, there is a great need for teaching people how to study the Bible. I believe it's one of the most important things a pastor can do for church members to help them grow spiritually and to ensure that they don't become dependent on the pastor for spiritual food. God bless your efforts in this direction!

Hi Chris! Thank you for your work! I came across your channel because I was researching for tips on how to study the bible. I learned a lot! I found myself binged-watching your videos.
I just have one QUESTION. Hopefully you will be able to see this comment.
What are your thoughts on Bible Commentaries?
Looking forward to watching you do a video about it.
Again, I’m so blessed to have found your channel! I made sure I turned on ALL NOTIFICATIONS so that I wont miss any of your videos.
    God bless!

So great to hear that! Thanks for sharing. Regarding commentaries: it really depends where you're at and what you're looking for. I'm not against using commentaries (use them myself all the time), but would always encourage you to study the text by yourself first before consulting a commentary. I know it's tempting to just look at what other people have said whenever you encounter a problem or don't understand something in the text, but doing so prevents us from discovering things on our own. On the other hand, it can be very helpful to look at what others have said. It can open up new perspectives, but also keep us from interpreting texts incorrectly or developing pet ideas that are not really biblical. My recommendation would be to start out on your own and see what you can discover and then check different commentaries. Of course you have to be selective. There are some really great commentaries out there and some not so great ones. I would always advise to buy individual volumes rather than whole sets/series simply because the quality will vary depending on who the author is and how much time and effort they invested. There used to be very few commentaries that looked closely at the text as an intentionally written, unified work and paid attention to the literary features like I'm trying to here on this channel, but fortunately that is changing. Nevertheless, it's important to read commentaries critically and not just accept everything at face value. In the end, we need to be guided by God's Spirit in order to discern between truth and error. If you need commentary recommendations for specific biblical books, let me know. Might be able to suggest something. And yes, I will consider doing a video on this. Thanks for suggesting that! Blessings as you study God's Word.

Kevin Rider - On the 'Former Adventist channel' - Colleen Tinker on the videos 'Former Adventist Fast Check' goes through each week's Sabbath Lessons all the Adventist read weekly analyzing them to show how Ellen White's beliefs diverge from the context of the Bible. Hello Chris. I just found your channel and am really enjoying your videos. However, I learned that Ellen White was a false prophetess who co-founded the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was a follower of another false prophet, William Miller. I realize not all SDA churches follow all her doctrines, but I don’t want to confuse those in my family who are non-believers as I’d like to share your videos with them. Is there another resource you could recommend? Thanks brother, and God bless your ministry.

Hello Kimberly, thanks for your comment. I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos and wanting to share them with others. I know there are a lot of opinions out there regarding Ellen White. The only way to know for sure whether she was a true prophetess or not is to prayerfully read her writings for yourself and compare them with the Bible and to apply the biblical tests concerning true and false prophecy to her and her ministry. I would encourage you to do this. Personally, I have not found anything in her writings that is not in full harmony with what the Bible teaches, but if you have, I would appreciate it if you would let me know. I do not recommend the book Steps to Christ because it was written by Ellen White or because it is an Adventist book, but because it is the best and most biblically faithful book I have come across with regard to developing a personal relationship with God. I believe your family would very much benefit from this book if they are willing to approach it with an open mind.
