    The real question is whether the polymer helps it float. Would sure help negate all those unfortunate boating accidents.

    The only problem with this product from a marketing point of view is it pretty much requires the entire context of the 2017 WWSD project to fully appreciate it. Hence the comments from the people who lack that context. That whole project and series of videos culminating in Tiger Valley is my favorite thing InRange has ever done.

    I think it should be said, out of the box, currently, they will not fit the CMC drop in triggers, even though the listing says they are "compatible with cassette style match triggers".
    It appears as if the forward part of the pocket has a radius that prevents the CMC trigger from dropping in. It could probably be modified to accept it like Milspec lowers do, but I'm hesitant to remove any material being as an engineer put it there, and an accountant left it there. The SLT1 is probably a drop in unit, as that was what the company had in mind making these things. The Cav Arms lower will accept the CMC trigger, so this caught me by surprise.
    Just throwing that out there to folks.

    This is less expensive than I had been expecting, I'll be curious if they can produce them as fast as there will be demand for them. I'm personally still not sold on the idea of a polymer AR, especially not one that I cannot customize grips, trigger guards, stocks, and am limited on internals to put in it, but I would definitely like to handle and shoot one of these to see if it changes my mind.

    • @GuamGuy
      @GuamGuy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      KE arms can complete a strip lower in less than 6 minutes. The kp15 ‘s grip, stock, and trigger guard are already parallel in style and function to upgraded components. A1 stock length will fit 90% of adult male shooters.

    • @cakeeee4

      Sinistral Rifleman aka Russell Phagan has been releasing videos of the production, takes about 60 seconds in the mold and 15-30 mins to get it ready to ship.

    • @cameronwilde7599
      @cameronwilde7599 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      There’s a reason that you don’t see polymer lowers that can accept different grips and stocks being popular on the market. The area between the buffer tube and grip is a huge weak area unless you design it as a monolithic component for strength. So yeah, you’re sacrificing that customization for rigidity, but when you think about the fact that this weighs close to half that of a milspec completed lower, it can become a compelling trade-off.
      They’ll be spitting these out by the thousands pretty soon, for a $110 price tag, you might as well pick one up and try it out.

      It'll pay to watch InRangeTV's WWSD video regarding the GWACS Lower Receiver (the spiritual predecessor to this component) if you haven't already. There will not be an 80% for this lower. Regardless of the fact that the ATF has been hesitant to issue new rulings on 80% designs, it would require an entirely new set of polymer molds that would cost around half a million dollars in order to fashion an 80% polymer lower. You can always buy your own and modify the lower yourself but if you want it done by them it's only on the full rifle version, I've heard them explain it that due to how expensive that one single part is it makes the complete lowers with those installed cost like $600 or more and most people aren't gonna buy those so they limited it to the full rifle, that's how I remember it anyway don't hold me to it I could be wrong.

      No reason it shouldn’t but that would defeat the original intent and purpose of the What Would Stoner Do (WWSD) projects (2017, 2020). That purpose was to return to Eugene Stoner’s vision of the AR15/M16 platform: lightweight, taking advantage of modern technology, and without sacrificing reliability and accuracy.
      Originally the barrel was a pencil design and we didn’t have the heat treatment technique to make a pencil barrel that could hold up under high volumes of fire. So back then, they fixed the issue by making a thicker and heavier barrel. Nowadays we have the heat treating technology to make good pencil barrels. The WWSD project returned to that design as Stoner intended to make the gun as lightweight as possible. That’s why the lower is polymer: it’s lightweight and takes advantage of modern technology. Thus, putting a heavy barrel on this lower would defeat the whole point of developing this lower.
