Megane Mk2 Windscreen Washer Not Working Properly - Fixed!

  • This Megane had a reduced, and also pulsing, flow of washer water to the front windscreen. It was fixed by replacing the washer pump.
In this video I explain how I did that, including explaining how I removed the front bumper to get to the washer bottle and pump location. I also explain the differences on how to remove the front bumper on a Renault Scenic.
This repair would also apply if the rear windscreen washer was not working as it uses the same pump. There is a valve within the pump that controls which screen is getting the washer fluid (which in turn is controlled by which way the motor is turning). This valve deteriorates over time and gets stuck in a position that causes usually one (either front or rear) of the washers to either stop working completely or not work properly.

Don't need to do any of that. Turn the wheel out. Pull back the wheel arch liner. The water bottle and pump are right there.

This was the perfect guide for me - removing the bumper was surprisingly simple, just as you said! Thanks so much!

So my case is what you just mentioned in the end of the video. So I'm hearing the pump noise but nothing comes out. Still the pump will be the bad guy?

So, you just activate the pump pulling the handle in the car while starting? Will try it

It is interesting. Today I did realize my pump does not work. Back home I tried to lock in internet to find the fuse for the pump, as first thing to check since I did not hear any sound from it. I did not found nothing about fuse for the pump but did removed some other fuses, did check them and put back. Suddenly I did realize pump was working but sadly, not for long. After 10 minutes I tried again, there was some noise for about 10 sek and then nothing more. And the viper was moving but suddenly stopped in the middle and start again after some sek. break. Viper without activating pump works fine. I did hear there is some rubber inside that regulate water flow front and back and they get bloated with the time.

Not sure what u got going on there, some systems do have a rubber filter at the pump that can get blocked - but not on the Meganes as far as I know.

@@iofix Saw in Internet that there is a rubber switch that moves to direct water front or back. So the rubber blows with the time and get stuck inside and can't move. I did saw on other video how somebody removed the pump and used sandpaper to bring this rubber to old dimensions.

Just remove the fog light and you can access it.
