Appreciate the perspective shared. I'm seeing this working similarly with students' academic performance. I'm now going to recalibrate my responses to my kids performance. As the coach shared... the thing to work on is to help them improve their average.

This is great man. I am absolutely not a basketball player, I teach music. But it is 100% applicable to my craft and I would say life in general. Great description.
This video is interesting for two reasons: 1) because what he says about the regression toward the mean is intuitively understandable and it's easy to relate to it 2) because when he says "half of the time, you're gonna perform less than average" it shows that he's getting fooled by statistics... again. Half of the time, you're going to perform under your median score, not your average score. You could be performing 99% of your time under your average if you got a single super-high score 1% of the time.
