I love that Two Stacks gives such a detailed breakdown of the blend on the bottle. I have one of their releases, but won't hesitate to buy should anything else from them show up here in Ontario. I'm blaming that one on you, by the way! The only Stout finished whisky I currently own is the Jameson's. Definitely different, with a slight bitter note, but I thoroughly enjoy it. The Jack Ryan sounds to be a good deal. Don't call it using too many words. Call it 'waxing poetical'! Speaking of which...Raglan Road, or On Raglan Road, is a song from many years back. I think The Dubliners made it popular. I'm most familiar with Luke Kelly's version. Many well known artists have covered it over the years. Sinead O'Connor's version is absolutely lovely. Finally catching up after a bit of a hiatus from the internet. Glad to see you looking well, my friend! Cheers Jon! 🥃🥃 Marian 🇨🇦
So good to welcome you back! I hope the break brought some peace. Online can bring a fair amount of noise to our lives! Thanks for the reminder of Raglan Road. I have heard it before, but it was lost to memory. I've now listened to Luke Kelly and now, have Sinead's version going while I type. Beautiful. As for the whiskey, this is much sweeter than the Jameson version with significant fruit coming from the Madiera I think. Thanks from dropping in, and I hope you have a great week, Cheers!
@@WhiskyNeighbour Shocking how much time we spend online, isn't it? I've put a limiter on all my devices. Life is just too short. I will now be watching for Madeira finishing, sounds intriguing...
39CAD wow definitely worth the pick up if I heard that correctly! Although I’d imagine it would be more in my area and I’m scarred after the Jameson crested stout. That sweetness with bitter stout just really didn’t work for me, cheers for the review! 🥃
Definitely agree that they're different animals, but both do showcase how blending flavours (of casks and whiskeys) can bring something nice. If you have a chance to try the Two Stacks brandy Cask Finishes (I've got apple, apricot, Raspberry and have tried the pear), they're really nice ways of taking the same core flavours and playing with them.
It sounds like a succesful stout finish. I really like stout beer, but I find that any beer finish tends to add sour notes, that don't really match the whisky flavors. This might work🙂

This Jack Ryan took home my surprise of the year last year. I absolutely love it. And rumour is another similar release is coming from them soon.
Awesome! Yep, they commented in some other places, new liquid is on its way!
Another nice review Jon!
Thanks!

I ha e heard from a few now that the Stout came off as bitter. This one is not that for me, and yes, you heard right. I should have bought two!!

I have not had the chance, but sounds like a great exploration!

It worked for me. Overall really surprised at how good this is. Still a little sweet, but enough good malt to balance. Thanks for dropping in!
