    Thanks Jez. Perfect instructions. And for those who are moaning about Jez talking too fast, you do have an option in your youtube settings to play the video slower.

    Thanks, this made this so easy as the manual was a bit sparse in this area

    My story is very similar to the one by Ken G4KII ... your video was very useful after having struggled a few days trying to work it out myself. A BIG thumbs up 🙂

    Huh, I didn't know I had to set Option 38 from R to T. Couldn't figure out why my radio wouldn't transmit :(
    Its working now! Thanks, great video :)

    Mny Tnx for the excellent video. It has been 40 years since my last QSO and I’m re-entering the hobby slowly via VHF & UHF bands. Your guidance helped me through the programming of my local repeaters (GB3BM & GB3CB) into my tiny FT-4X; equipment in these areas have changed enormously and the little handbook supplied is quite ambiguous in places. So once again, thank you…back to the SWbands soon. Ken G4KII.

    on?

    • @2j4ez
      @2j4ez  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The 82.5 is used to access the repeater if you don't put it in you wont be able to access the repeater

    I'm new to HAM , got bored of CB, just waiting for the new syllabus get sorted to book my Foundation license.
    In the case of leaving ARS ON would it not find the settings automatically, split freq., shift, and CTCSS tone?
    But then would ARS only kick in when the repeater is at the device reach? Is that the idea?
    Thanks for the explanations.

    After I've stored a memory, how can I examine that memory for the repeater's frequency?
    CHIRP uses the call sign as the tag, but there are multiple repeaters with the same call sign but different frequencies. I want to examine one of them to see what frequency it's using.

    • @gnormhurst
      @gnormhurst 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I figured it out: Select that memory slot, then press "#Band". The frequency will appear. Press "#Band" again to show the tag.

    Why does this radio autofill the last digit at 5? I keep trying to enter a frequency that ends in .820 and the damn thing just keeps autofilling it as .825. Very annoying.

    Thanks for this information but when I get to Txmit after 38 my display shows "Error". what am I missing please? Incidentally, I have Reset the device so as to provide a clear run but still get his problem which is very frustrating to say the least. My FT4XE is close to going out of the window.

    • @2j4ez
      @2j4ez  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My UHF/VHF antenna is setup by the factory so no SWR adjustments needed. if I use a HF antenna (AMPRO) and use it from the bike which has a ground plane and the swr is low. Ive got a SX20 SWR meter and a Nissell meter for 2/70

    Easy to programme but why is the menu button on the side easier on the front ⭐⭐ for that .Yaesu trying to compete with Chinese HTs they have been ripping people off for years, made in China anyway a HTonly worth £30 the most and they are not unlocked for use on 446 like our well loved Chinese HT ⭐⭐⭐ a £ shop HT
