Another delightfully dense dissemination of didactic delights. I’ve been spending a lot of time with the major triads, this is a great nudge a bit further down the road. I also really appreciate the “archeology” aside. A great way of starting in an unknown place and tracing back to a familiar location. Love it.

This is really powerful knowledge when your in the business we're in. This is an awesome lesson and basics 101 of playing lead. I suggest everyone out there watch to pay close attention to this one, save it, and watch multiple time for longterm memory.
R, 3rd, 5th = major
R, b 3rd, 5th = minor

Hey Chris I loved this lesson I think for me what might have helped a little more was connecting the notes to the caged chording system. It helped me a lot with major triads and might help someone else out. Again thanks for the awesome videos

The Pep Guardiola of guitar teachers... The way I've been working on these (been stuck in the triad woodshed for a while)... is staying the same set of strings and going up and down the neck. I love this approach! As usual, and AWESOME explanation and information sharing!

Hey Chris. I really get a ton from these lessons and truly appreciate you putting them out.💯 I’m having trouble however getting in my mind how to identify a #9 or 11 or… of the scale the way you do effortlessly. Wondering if you had any method on how to achieve this.

Well here I'm only looking at he R, b3 and 5. But for identifying any of these scale tones, I think the biggest progress you can make is to say the numbers as you play the scale, nice and slow at first, then after a while you can see them all VERY clearly.

Hey Chris, just recently found your channel. You post some really great stuff and I think you’re the best music theory instructor on TH-cam! You teach in a very conversational and easy to understand way, and I really appreciate that. My question for you, where should I start if I’m learning Blues Guitar? I know the A minor blues scale, the I IV V chord progressions, and how to move shapes of the pentatonic scale to different keys. You have a lot of really great videos on this channel, just not sure exactly where I should dive in. Any support or direction is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Another great lesson. So, I have been drilling the major triads a la your video for months now, and they are finally starting to become automatic. Seems like I'll need to do the same for minor triads now. It's tempting to think "if I just follow the formula (root on bottom string, third on bottom string, fifth on bottom string) going up the neck, I won't have to learn and drill the shapes for so long, but the shapes are so unique in each case that it seems like the only way to have them at your fingertips is drilling them. N'est ce pas Chris?

What do you mean by take it around the circle the fifths? I know what the circle of 5ths is and kinda how to use jt. Do you mean just do it for every key as you go around the circle?
