    My grandfather, Harry Haywood Pollard, was the West Baden Springs Hotel's head bellman. He served in that capacity from the teens up until the hotel's closure in 1931.

    an additional chapter of history of the Town of French lick in WWII when the War Emergency Pipeline (WEP) passed close by to French Lick. During WWII my dad and a friend stayed in French LIck at Halloween. There was a contest for best costume. My dad and his Friend were recruited to be the Judges for the contest because they were from out of town. They chose on young lad because of his inventiveness to create the costume from common Items( (people still poor from the depression) but the town supervisor daughter was not chosen because she had a fancy purchased outfit. So the p[people running the contest invented an award. by the way explore the WEP project. Second only to the Manhattan project.
