Very annoying how many psople are ignoring the fact he got hit in the head earlier in the match. I absolutely guarantee he was concussed and thats why it happened
That's a good context. But as Z had said in the video, this match isn't a "big game" so most people wouldn't have seen the full match. We see the interesting part only.
Same happened to Karius in the CL final, yet people still say that he was useless.
This a terrible excuse. Meslier was hit in the head a while before this incident, and between then he caught many balls into the box. How come he showed no signs of concussion during those catches?
@@vicvinegar4540a real fan, aren't you?
Hopefully he wasn’t otherwise this is poor by their medical staff.
What a bad mistake! I hope you didn’t make a silly mistake by not running today!
fucking hell didn’t think my club would end up on a Zealandism video anytime soon but Meslier has done it!!!!!
If it was gonna be anyone from Leeds, it would’ve been Meslier let’s be real
The most leeds thing possible
It's not like Leeds are some obscure 10th tier club
@@Lavassin yeah but Zealand doesn’t really ever cover anything from the championship so still surprising…
I love that Regis immediately went to him after the match to cheer him up. He knows him from u17 days. Also how can you not watch a great match up. Just a missed offsides and bogus foul call led to two goals. The tie was deserved
Should be noted that Meslier took a head injury before and that it deflected off of a Leeds player after Browne hits it
💯
Meslier got hit pretty hard in the head like 15 minutes before that happened and there was something on the pitch that the ball hit which changed its direction
"He looks uncomfortable."
Meslier has ALWAYS looked uncomfortable.. even when Leeds are down the other end of the pitch.. at least while he was in the Prem.. 😅
Love loading up TH-cam and seeing an incredibly blunt zealandism caption. Let’s feast.
Was anyone else struggling to see what Zealandism was talking about? Screen was so small...
Zealand: you probably weren't watching this match
Me: as a usmnt sicko, yes
me a leeds fan: 🥴
You know, with the Goalkeeper analysis, you should join Ben Foster in one of his weekly videos about Goalkeeper reviews for that week.
The problem with meslier is that he is a confidence player, when he has confidence he is almost world class. When Leeds was doing great in the premier league he was one of our best players, but when we startet to "fall apart" he lost all confidence and was extremely bad, he was also one of our worst players in the last season when we didnt get promoted. he had only recently gotten his confidence back and now i think he will need another season just to play at a consistent level. I don't blame him for the goal. He tok a hard knee to his head in the game and i have seen pictures of somthing on the pitch where the ball bounced. I think to get promotion this season we will have to get a new keeper in jaunuary, but with confidence meslier is good enough to be our keeper in the prem.
Zealand speaking about my club
I'd suggest that Massimo Taibi against Southampton was worse.
Z: makes it very clear he barely watches the championship
also Z: “he’s one of the best keepers in the championship” which is easy to prove false…he’s shite and the stats and eye test show it
I was like maybe he think he is best in fifa, not real life xD
Tbf, Z is an FM player (like most of us here) so I think he based that comment on FM stats, and Meslier is a beast in FM.
He's hardly shite, he's saved us so many games with his shot-stopping and usually concedes after the defence leaves him stranded. For some reason he is the scapegoat of this season. You look at images after the game there was something on the pitch/a divot which the ball hit in an incredibly low chance occurrence, Struijk came out and said it. Be a lot worse off without him in goal.
@@GingerArcher Meslier is a bad keeper who on occasion makes great saves. Leeds as a whole concede some of the lowest xG in the league. That means that Meslier is protected more than almost any other keeper from making saves. And yet he consistently concedes goals above the expected goals prediction. I've got a season ticket for the cheese wedge, and I'm tired of him being the obvious weakness in the team while others blindly defend him. Bonkers.
@@darrylbrown6946 Congrats on your season ticket, we have the lowest xg against because we keep the ball so much. When we have conceded this season it's been stranded 1v1s and penalties for the most part because others have made mistakes. He's not a bad keeper, he is a keeper who is only 24 and playing at a high championship level before he's even reaching his prime in his late 20s-30s.
I played GK back in my highschool days and was once lamblasted in front of my teamates by the coach after the match for booting the ball into touch rather than attempting to dive and save in the last min, in a scenario similiar to this.
Falling apart again 🤣🤣🤣
You love to see it 😂
For me the worst GK mistake was in the Bundesliga
A defender threw in the ball to the GK, who was busy drinking or tie his shoes. The ball went into the direction of the goal and when the GK noticed, he panicked, slightly touched the ball, which still went in. If he didnt touch it that wouldnt have been a legal goal, but that way it was an own goal...
Mark Flekken, now at Brentford last I checked
You see the ball also strike a leeds player on the head, so it's spinning in an even more unnatural way
Its impressive that you manage to make 12 minute video out of minute long clip, i just went on twitter to watch it myself...
If you are looking for more legendary howlers, check out 2.Bundesliga season 23/24 Hamburg derby, FC St.Pauli vs. Hamburger SV, matchday 15. HSV keeper Heuer-Fernandes tries to clear the ball, but DRILLS the ball in the own goal. The worst I have ever seen.
I missed it if zealand mentioned it, but it looks like Meslier over ran it because the ball took a bounce/skid off Firpo’s head that changed the trajectory. Only obvious from the replay from the camera near the corner flag to goalies right
Second division of The Netherlands plays most of its matches on Friday evening so you might want to give that a try
It's one of those balls you take two steps forward to collect it, not take two steps back and let it bounce
It was deflected
Sir Zealand, there's a Bundesliga game every Friday and 2 Bundesliga 2 games
Weirdly enough I was watching this match, had it on in the background on paramount+ as I had nothing else to do at the end of my work day
There's Bundesliga, Ligue 1, La Liga, Serie A and of course: The Danish Superliga on Fridays. Plenty of ball to go around. I watch Bundesliga on Fridays, because those games are almost always kind of crazy.
Well, actually 🤓 the image at the end is not shocking as it seems. Ilian Meslier came from Lorient's academy in France and Sunderland's manager, Régis Le Bris, was Lorient's head of youth development at the time before he stepped up to be Lorient and Sunderland's manager. So it was just a chance for both of them to catch up with each other and an unlikely reunion.
There was a watch or something on the pitch that it bounced off there pictures of him picking it up after.
Collymore and Flowers, the ultimate divert situation at Ewood Park. Followed by MacManaman V Walker at White Heart Lane.
I wonder where the goal kicks were taken from.
Almost as comical as Flowers.
100% concussed
Sunderland and weird bounce (beachball PTSD triggered).
You just dont understand how good Browne is. He played it in a way that would result in that unreal spin. No keeper saves that.
11:02 we're having play out the back keepers in sunday league now game's gone
LEEDS! LEEDS ARE FALLING APAAAAAAAAAART AGAIN!
Oh I remember making a very similar mistake like this a couple years back. made a mistake in estimating the exact position so you didn't get enough of the body behind the ball and then after that the ball also just slipped through my hands. This was 10 minutes before the end of the game(it was the 2-3). Wanted to disappear at the moment itself. I can only envy this keepers ability to shrug it of as easily after what seems to be just a couple seconds.
Bundesliga plays on Friday (even though nobody should watch it cause if you pay 35€ a month for DAZN you should rethink your life) and every League that doesn't and rather plays on Monday is absolute garbage.
after re watching the play at low speed i see what happened.
The ball was spinning to the goal keepers left, bounces and turn to his right, he can't react on time and he misses it. It doesn't even go between his legs.
he was expecting the ball to bounce and maintain it's curve to his left, didn't happened and well disaster.
the only think he could have done is not letting it bounce and just grab it before it does. It's a harder ball than one might think, once it bounces few goalkeeper will have the reflexes to grab it, that's why most goal keeper don't let it bounce
That's not even the worst mistake by a Leeds keeper. Gary Sprake literally threw the ball into his own net.
Typically I forgot there is a EFL Championship match in Friday
I was in fact watching this match and laughing at leeds
no way this dude managed to make a 12 minute video out of that.
Sorry, Zealand, that is not even the worst mistake by a Leeds goalkeeper.
Have you never heard of Gary Sprake? There is (or was) something called "doing a Gary Sprake", which meant a goalkeeping foul-up.
He was a good keeper - the Welsh international keeper - when Leeds were a terrific team in the 1970s. But he sometimes had a total disaster. The famous incident was when he threw the ball into his own net. Against Liverpool, at Anfield, in front of the Kop.
That was not filmed but everyone knew about it and he also allowed a simple chance to go under his body in the 1970 FA Cup Final.
Meslier just "did a Gary Sprake"
Japan has some Friday matches
"eel- ian" is how its pronounced
or ill- ian
It's really not. There is no i in his first name. It's "Il-an"
Hey Z did you see the nasty red card tackle in LA Galaxy vs Austin FC? Biro from Austin did one of the nastiest tackles I've ever seen against Ricky Puig
Please do the Europa and conference league updates.. those are my favorite
Dude please go fullscreen when youre showing a twitter video because i cant see shit
What was wrong with the frog for covering that spot, that lil pile of clothing looks like you tried military but then realized it just a lil spot
The League of Ireland, the best league in the world play pretty much all their games on a Friday night
I was at that game and the limbs after the goal were crazy.
Fucking love the championship let's hope my teams still in there next season 😂
There's pictures that show some kind of object had been thrown onto the pitch that it hit
Karius would have saved that 💀
It might be because z is always running but there is always a Friday match in the bundesliga
Would like to see other camera angles showing how much the ball deviated due to spin. In cricket terms, that one has beaten the wicket keeper and the umpire is signalling byes
Meslier = Lewis Hamilton? Nah, he's more like an Esteban Ocon
Concust ? I don't think so he was looked at for a long time so if so Leeds want fined and people sacked there are protocols.
If he'd had taken a proper position and concentrated rather than think about diving forward to lay on the ground till the final whistle .. Leeds would have the 3 points
SAVE INVERNESS CALLY THISTLE
Biggest mistake is Pepe the Frog gone missing??!?!
Hi zealand
why is it so bad he has 2 weeks to think about it (international break) now , look at karos for liverpool he was not the same afterwards he fumbles in the final .
Damn Zealand you still play . Please shhow us your highlights 😂
my fm hero...
re: your statement at the start about Fridays, there are always fun games on Friday evening cmon now Z
League of Ireland is always on Fridays 🇮🇪
HI Zealand, thoughts on the MLB playoffs so far?
millions of people watched the game
These Zealandism videos could be half the length, if Zealand eased off on the pointless waffling.
Yeah 2 minutes of nonsense to start the video. Had to switch off.
Laughing at the Chestw*nkers is never pointless! 😂
hes killing his channel with all that nonsense chit chat
Just full screen it please
Hi
hello there
It's not looking great for Leeds, already.
We look pretty good actually. Still very confident of autos
@@vicvinegar4540if you get more performances like that from Tim robinson you’ll do well
I watched this live :(
i Was at the game so I defo was watching it xd
Ilian Meslier: a man whose biggest career achievement is being less racist than Kiko Casilla
Illan. There's no "i" in his first name
Sorry meslier is not one of the best keeper in the league hes woeful.
Eighth
This honestly seems like blatant match fixing by the goalkeeper… someone check how many big late bets were placed on the match ending as a draw… 😅
