Thanks for the detailed review of the da20! I start my college flight training in a week and will be flying the da20 hopefully. This helped me become familiarized with all the instruments!
Good video. I'm about to start flying again and I'm going to use the Diamond DA20... so this video helped getting a feel for the basics of this airplane. Thank you
Like many others in the comments, I’m also about to start at a flight school… and guess what planes they fly??? Thanks man, really insightful video. Now I’ve got a tiny head start ;)
Was watching videos on DA20C1. Funny to come across yours. I recognized that airport. didn't take long to realize you're preflighting one of the Diamonds at KSMD. I am a student pilot, currently training part 141 there. Cool to come across your video. 🙂 You forgot to check the tires, struts, brake pads, propeller, air intake, and air filter 😉 Great job though, especially with interior checklist! Happy flying and may your landings always be soft friend.
Hey, how’s that training going? I fly the DA40/DA20 and C172 at Sweet. Check out the “Northeast Indiana Pilots” group to get social! It’s fun to fly with others.
I would also check the gear struts and tires, check the prop and spinner, and dump the sumped fuel instead of pouring back in. Other than that, pretty good.
4:03 the SUCKING actually creates the noise of the stall horn. Not the blowing. You could just as well use your mouth to give it a good s u c c and achieve the samw
yep, and it works not when you fly to slow but on to high angle of attack, if it works when you are to slow it will be noisy during taxi for example or on ground roll.
I don't know anything about this, but I did notice that and thought it did not make sense to measure blowing when it is supposed to indicate lack of air as in a stall.
Pretty sure you were in my ground class. If your the guy who always brung the monster and went to sweet aviation then you were- it was the class of 2020
Hei Buddy! Thank you very much for this amazing video. I'm looking forward to attend flight school in 2021. The plane they use is the DV20, similar to this one i guess. The video was very informative. Would you ever consider to do a video on taxi, pre-takeoff and takeoff? I just cant wait until i get to fly and get my ppl :-) Thank you again, have a good one!
Having learned to fly on the A-1 version, with its twin altitude-compensating carburettors, I learned that the A-1 is very underpowered. Rotax 912 is a reliable engine, but at 80 HP it is too underpowered for a two-seater. I got twice the climb rate while flying solo vs flying with my instructor. C-1 version seems to be a much better aircraft with its 160 hp engine. Plus the rear-facing windows improve rearwards visibility.
I wonder why nobody seems to perform the procedure that is very important for a Rotax engine. That is before starting it (ignition switch off!!!), remove the oil cap and then manually rotate the prop 3-4 turns until you hear some gurgling of the oil. That makes sure to have enough lubrication for the startup. If you skip that, the engine experiences unnecessary extra wear causing reduced lifetime.
You're not supposed to put the fuel back into the airplane when you've drained it. It has to be discarded in a fuel drain container. Otherwise, thanks for good video!
That is the fastest starting katana I have ever seen. You deserve a medal for that start lol

Hello there! And also forgot to manually turn the propeller to manage to see the real level of oil, is it?
Thank you so much for posting this video. So helpful! ❤
Thank you! Very informative.!! Was searching a lot for such a practical video
saf.pathwalker am glad it helped you!!
Thank you! Checking out in a DA20 next month after years of flying older Cessnas, so this is very helpful.
John Trimble am glad it helped you!
Excellent video! I hope I can see some more from you!
Thank you! Sure, will make more.
Thank you, have a good flight :)
This is a great video. Thanks.
Hi, for the stall it sucks air out of it.
Thank you for the great video !
Congratulations dude. Proud of u
Nice flying shoes!

Oh, and you didn't yell "CLEAR!" haha

❤❤❤great vedio

Alec Snyder haha yes i got trained from sweet aviation, but i did not attend the ground school over there..
Did you get your license? I fly the DA40/DA20 and C172 at Sweet. Check out the “Northeast Indiana Pilots” group to get social!

Sure will do!
is this DA20- C1?
Thanks bro
Nice and very helpful. But I think you did not yell "clear" before starting engine???
Great video! I’m impressed with the camera clarity. What did you use to record?
Also, I fly with Sweet and often in the DA20s!
I just used my phone to record it. Samsung galaxy S8.

Thank you for not cranking up the engine to 1700 RPM like the checklist says to. It's rough on the engine before the oil has a chance to lubricate it.
Like the vid did not like the fact you did not "CLEAR" the area considering ther was a work truck right next to you

@Zyonix007 you can but not recommended
It’s not like you own a diamond da20
RIP N212DX tho 😢
i know right :(
Never pour the fuel back in from a tester!
Need to yell clear before that prop runs!!!
Only if there’s other people near it, which there obviously isnt
music too loud.
