    Having learned to fly on the A-1 version, with its twin altitude-compensating carburettors, I learned that the A-1 is very underpowered. Rotax 912 is a reliable engine, but at 80 HP it is too underpowered for a two-seater. I got twice the climb rate while flying solo vs flying with my instructor. C-1 version seems to be a much better aircraft with its 160 hp engine. Plus the rear-facing windows improve rearwards visibility.

    I wonder why nobody seems to perform the procedure that is very important for a Rotax engine. That is before starting it (ignition switch off!!!), remove the oil cap and then manually rotate the prop 3-4 turns until you hear some gurgling of the oil. That makes sure to have enough lubrication for the startup. If you skip that, the engine experiences unnecessary extra wear causing reduced lifetime.

    Thank you for not cranking up the engine to 1700 RPM like the checklist says to. It's rough on the engine before the oil has a chance to lubricate it.

    Was watching videos on DA20C1. Funny to come across yours. I recognized that airport. didn't take long to realize you're preflighting one of the Diamonds at KSMD. I am a student pilot, currently training part 141 there. Cool to come across your video. 🙂 You forgot to check the tires, struts, brake pads, propeller, air intake, and air filter 😉 Great job though, especially with interior checklist! Happy flying and may your landings always be soft friend.

    4:03 the SUCKING actually creates the noise of the stall horn. Not the blowing. You could just as well use your mouth to give it a good s u c c and achieve the samw

    • @dawidrodak8181
      @dawidrodak8181 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      yep, and it works not when you fly to slow but on to high angle of attack, if it works when you are to slow it will be noisy during taxi for example or on ground roll.

    • @hawaiirealmedia5610
      @hawaiirealmedia5610 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know anything about this, but I did notice that and thought it did not make sense to measure blowing when it is supposed to indicate lack of air as in a stall.

The video was very informative. Would you ever consider to do a video on taxi, pre-takeoff and takeoff? I just cant wait until i get to fly and get my ppl :-) Thank you again, have a good one!

    You're not supposed to put the fuel back into the airplane when you've drained it. It has to be discarded in a fuel drain container. Otherwise, thanks for good video!

    Really enjoyed your video. :) I've just learned about PCL and am intrigued with the history. But none of my Google searches has turned up the date when pilot-controlled lighting first went into use. Do you have any information on that or how/when they were developed or even where they were first used? If you have any reference to point me to, I'm happy to go looking for my own info. :) Thanks much.
