Here it is: one of Parks and Recreations greatest, most unlikely friendships (second only to Ben and April). That's right - here's Ron Swanson and Andy Dwyer's journey to friendship! From "Parks & Recreation": a mockumentary series following Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler), the deputy director of the Parks and Recreation department in the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana. Leslie is determined to improve her small world through her job, despite resistance from Parks Director Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman), an anti-government Libertarian. That's not a friendship, Andy adopted Ron, without consent, and as time progressed Ron accepted it. I think the meat tornado was the turning point.
Its more like Andy just started following Ron, and Ron just accepted it

I love how Ron calls Andy “son” all of the time. He knew the dynamic and secretly liked it. Andy was his little boy.
Helping Andy along to becoming a responsible adult definitely prepped Ron for actual fatherhood by the time he met Diane.

I think he's only doing it because he genuinely cares about Andy and he knows its what Andy wants
@@mythicalashley9542 Not really. Ron frequently mentions that he values education and that, when he was younger, he purposely went behind his father's back to enroll in a local college (an experience he found very positive).
I feel like this is the one exception Ron makes to his libertarian philosophy (besides his admiration for the National Park system), in that he seems to genuinely value state-sponsored higher education. But I think this really emphasizes the degree to which Ron is a reasonable person. Most reasonable people will admit that, while they strongly believe in their personal philosophies, the real world is more complex than pure philosophical abstracts and that some exceptions must be made for the sake of practicality.

It not wild at all imo. Hes doesnt like "ethnic food" but he loves the meat tornado. He doesn't like europe, but he'll go there for diane. He doesnt like giving, or recieving gifts. But leslie makes an impact on him and makes him enjoy giving her gifts. He has set beliefs but hes not just a caricature, so his believes arent set in stone.

Unlikely? It's really the only friendship on the show that actually makes sense aside from Donna and Tom. They're cut from the same cloth, only difference is the maturity level.

Truly the best role I've ever seen Chris Pratt do. You can really tell he's having fun and it's not just at work to earn a paycheck
At this point in his career he wasn't that well known, like he is today, and I'm pretty sure most P&R fans know him for this role instead of the MCU. He is truly a treasure.
I wish he'd stop trying to be the next Tom Cruise, weird religious vigour included, and do more comedy again... It's probably not a great career move, but I'm just a fan, and thankfully not his agent

@@Kronkoft hey, I have no citation for this but I'd heard that it's not because he believes in God, it's because the church he joined is infamous for being incredibly homophobic. Believe in God, sure, but don't be homophobic while you do it.
They only mention Andy's Dad being deceased once to my knowledge. Seeing Ron be a "father" to Andy truly does my heart good. Being a son of a deadbeat it really resonated with me and gave me a reason to be invested, such a well written show.

@@CarrotFlowers421 Andy was taking a test to become a police. The officer testing him said something along the lines of “you pull someone over for speeding, but he turns out to be your dad, what do you do?” And replies with “well first I’d say ‘Dad!? Your alive!?”

Andy prepared Ron for fatherhood by basically turning into his adopted son.
They didn't really dwell on it, but Andy basically forgot to bring everything for his first day of college.
Andy is my favorite character from any tv show- I mean “Ron and Diane sitting in a tree kississippi… see that bird”
I think the most unlikely friendship was April and Ben. It was crazy to see them together.

I've seen the scene with Ron and Andy grilling and drinking beer together and it has only just hit me that Ron is grilling inside, unventilated.
Give the man some credit, he’s not crazy: Ron cracked a window! Still not ideal lmao, but that’s how he rolls
Honestly knowing Ron he probably installed a ventilation system in his office by himself, by hand, and kept it hidden from everyone for the exact purpose of grilling inside during work hours.
I love that Ron is just grilling in his office and of course, there are no veggies there (unless you count chips).😆

How is this unexpected? Ron and Andy seem like perfectly-fitted friends. They have similar interests, Ron finds Andy's eventual work-ethic admirable, and Andy looks up to Ron (for many obvious reasons).

Ron Swanson is my new hero and the man I want as role model for my 11-yr-old son. I will be showing him daily clips of Ron in action, as i guide him to a suitable model of manly behaviour. I am struggling not to imitate Ron in my own speech. I find myself saying "Please and thank you". Ron is my spiritual brother. "I haven't has lunch since yesterday" 🤣🤣🤣
