    That situation with your committee member who you had hoped would be your advisor sounds so stressful. I could not have kept them on the committee, so kudos to you. It's always so interesting to hear how comps and programs operate in other universities/departments. My comps were essentially a master's defense/dissertation proposal wrapped into one.

      Thanks for watching! And yeah it was super stressful. I kind of wished i hadn’t kept them on but it’s over now so 🤷🏾‍♀️. And yeah, for my program, we had to have a master’s already so there was no thesis. And we had to also have a dissertation proposal defense. They did change the process recently which removed one of the two milestones we had but i can’t remember which one it was.
