  • This is an awesome conversation between Coach Liebs and Cooper Kupp of the LA Rams. They talk about Kupp's journey to becoming a great route runner and discuss a ton of great detail about the wide receiver position.
    Kupp is a route running genius. This is an interview players & coaches of all levels can take something from.
    Shout out to the Nike Football family for setting this interview up and for taking care of us throughout Super Bowl week!!
    Hope you guys enjoy!

    "If I start getting to the point where I'm thinking through steps... I become really robotic." I feel that.

    3:17 is like I hear myself talking. I am obviously not nearly on the level Kupp is at. But the reasoning is the same, not the fastest guy, so I have to be the smartest guy.

    Can you explain on not running 100% during parts of routes?

    If a DB plays 8-10 yards off and I have a slant, should I forget about stemming 3 yards before breaking and just break for the slant from the the LOS.

      Eoin Delargy absolutely not. The sooner you break the sooner the DB will drive on it. If too break right away he will have time to make a play on it. You wanna push vertical 3 full steps. Open stride. Low pads. Then snap inside on that 2nd outside step.

    What does he mean by indicator steps?

    • @SidelineHustle
      @SidelineHustle  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      defined steps. sharp cuts so the QB knows what path you are on and knows when you are breaking. adding definition and detail to your routes.
