I don't think he did. They ran a trailer throught the summer of 1994 (while they were on the roof) promoting the arrival of the "Children's BBC Aardvark" in the autumn. I don't remember here appearing until after they moved into Studio A.
A little known fact the person who did Otis then returned to CBBC two years later for the Saturday Show with a new puppet called Tiny the hamster which was a double act known as tiny and Mr Duck. He then reunited with Dick n Dom where he did puppet for the bungalow while also doing puppet on Cbeebies
Sorry Otis But The Way Things Have Been Going CBBC Can't Afford To Keep You We're Going To Have To Kick You Out (Cries) This is The Hardest Thing We've Ever Had To Do
Does anyone know if Otis appeared on the broom cupboard? I've half an idea he might have been there right at the end in embryonic form but he seemed to be there right at the start of the Studio A years. Can't find any clips though...
I don't he did but "Tell that aardvark that's a wrap" was there over the end titles in the Andi Peters days. I always thought that was hint of what was to come. I wonder if Edd The Duck guessed that he would be replaced by an aardvark though!
Otis was one scary creature. Not only were his eyes wide and scary, but my Brother's name is OTIS!!! I use to imagine him popping out the tv when it was off- and him quickly zooming in and out going "Duahh! Duahh!". Then disappearing. Thats why i never wanted to see a TV screen black. Sodding Otis.
Yeah early 90s used for series 1 of Live and Kicking but also the broom cupboard called rats. The technology wasn't that good though and he got replaced by the leprechauns for series 2.
Ratz the cat (voiced by Paul Brophy). He featured on series 1 of Live and Kicking and Sunday mornings CBBC with Philippa Forester. There was one L & K when he called Emma by the name of Philippa. The technology did not work 100% and Andi Peters told me there was many a time when they were on the phone to America where he originated five minutes before the show started to get him fixed. Nice idea though. L and K was always trying to be ahead of its time and Saturday morning TV in general was often used as a test for new technology.
Bring him Back with Edd The Duck I loved Them both Best line ever Shh that's my song (^_^) My 90's years Rocked!! I've Seen The talking cataus and Talking dog Scare the hell out of me (O_O)
You got to be joking, well Nobody is going to agree with you there, Hacker the Dog is the worst puppet CBBC has ever had and should be axed as he is not appropriate for it's audience, Emlyn the Gremlin is much better in fact he's the best.
Otis was a lovely character
Otis was a constant source of nightmares for me as a child.
In the background in the Studio 9 links it's the instrumental of Better Off Alone by Alice Deejay

Interesting how he got to meet Robin Williams at one point.
*sigh* Hard to believe this was nearly 10 years ago now... where does the time go? :(
Haha, and now it's 10 years since your comment. I hope they've treated you well.
Now it's been over 10 years since your comment! Where indeed does time go...
With CBBC celebrating its 30th birthday in the new year, they'd better bring back Otis!
adultmoshifan87 Would you look at that, they did.
I had two full episodes of it in the past, but it seems that the tapes we had were taped over to re-use so I unfortunately no longer have them :(
This is fucking mad memories
Did someone finally tell that aardvark it's a wrap?

Brilliant! I'm sure this was on youtube quite a while ago so it's great to see it here. Then came Emlin the Gremlin...

Awh, this is really sad. I loved Otis.
Yeah Why Would He Want To Leave
1:07 - 1:15 there's a clip from the "Ants in your Pants" show which he presented from 1995-1996 and featured pre-school shows in a 20 minute slot.
I remember this..I have no idea why!
Me too he was amazing

and he now "assists" Stanley the orange monster on Saturday Mash Up Live, the current Saturday morning show on CBBC. Dave Chapman by the way!

@@Cheeseandwhiskers Maybe he just wanted to do something else or the time to do something else. His credits are wide and varied.
