Dave, I watched every one of your videos and virtually all of Kyle’s on each of his channels. I find them both informative and entertaining. I especially love your road trips with Kathy. I just watched Part 2 of your trip home from Fort Collins.
I’m a radio news anchor in New York City. And the reporter in me has one question that has been bothering me for several years. I know it’s none of my business but I love to watch your son and Alyssa on their road trips. They are also terrific together, especially with the dogs. But there is never an explanation of just who Alyssa is. Is she just an Out of Spec employee. Or just what is their relationship. Thanks again to you and Kyle for the many happy hours of viewing. Mitch.
Nobody, nobody, does a road trip like you Dave. Thanks to you and you lovely wife!
Listening to your wife is a wise thing Dave.
Very wise thing yup
My favorite part was the throwing shade at Kyle charging stops. 😂. The hands up killed it.
Next Dave Video: I bought an EQS.
I think it will be a Macan with massaging seats rather than an EQS
@@timoliver8940yeah the macan for Cathy and the new m3p for himself
Good luck charging in Marco/Napkes
😂
you guys are fun and informational! Keep it up and I hope that Kathy gets that Porsche!
Morning, Dave I think Cathy has a good idea about charging at 13% optimum charging speed, you go girl. :)
Maybe haha
Love you guys. These trips are so fun to watch!
They're getting that 'Premium' 350 electricity, instead of that plain old 'Regular' 150 electricity. It's better at preventing knock in the Bolt's motor. I thought everyone knew this!
🤣😂🤣
Hahaha
Another great video!!! Yall make my day amazing!!
Nice video from "C" to shining "C". (Colorado to Connecticut)
The Ohio turnpike has a bad ass charging setup. It’s so easy to get off and on at rest stops.
Hi OOS Dave and OOS Mom! Back in February we drove our Lightning ER from SE Pennsylvania to Chicago, IL (no tesla adapter) for a meetup with Ford at the Auto Show and there are several rest stops on the OH turnpike (I 80) that have EA stations that worked well. Only one of the stations was off the main highway in Sheffield, OH in a Giant supermarket parking lot. But all in all - the path on I 80 from PA to Chicago was well covered.
EQS doesn’t call it dog mode, but after you turn off the EV, there’s a button to keep AC on for 15 minutes. Also, you can turn on AC from their app. When driving another couple to dinner in Florida, I turn on the AC when the check arrives. They are stunned to get into a cool car.
My favorite channel!
Thank You Everybody for All that you are doing for our Planet Earth.... Peace.. Shalom.. Salam.. Namaste
🙏🏻 😊 ✌ ☮ ❤ 🕊
Great video. When its overcast I use night mode on my display. I think that help with screen not looking so washed out when you were showing the different charging stations.
Dave, I’m sure there are some great deals on EQS & EQE SUVs. Their massage seats are wonderful, ride is very smooth & quiet, rear wheel steering if equipped is fabulous, and lane changing works well. You may be disappointed AC charging is only 9.6kW, no frunk, a nuisance start/stop button, and no walk-away locking.
Great video, love your road trips.🙂
Hi Out of Spec Dave - We were visiting ND early on Easter Sunday - we would have said hi. Thank you for the videos. Keep up the great work.
Thank you so much for this generous contribution to the channel! You are the first person to ever do this for me! This money officially has been allocated to the cost of the cinnamon buns
Bolt doing Bolt things as always!
Great trip back home, safe and sound. Many beautiful sights and a well edited vlog.
i live in Ohio, ashamed of our crappy roads, loved the cinnamon rolls by the way, big big smile, love road trips
You were near my neck of the woods (just a bit south of me, I’m near Ann Arbor!) I’ve SuperCharged in Maumee but not in Genoa.
I think the charging stats alone made the f150 last in that race. However, you guys were in comfort and ate well. So winning in my book.
great road trip video
Those dual sided Superchargers with the Tesla only sign is so only Teslas park in the one row while vehicles with the charge port on the other side can park in the other row- so no loss of charging spots.
Great video series, Dave! In answer to your question about non-Tesla charging in Broadview Heights is that supercharger site is only open to Teslas. A Ford Lightning cannot charge at that location. So, the signs are accurate.
hmmm... i wonder how Tesla can prevent an F-150 Lightning from charging there since it's a V3?
Thank you for the video. Looking forward to watching new road trips in new upcoming owned cars as it is customary on Out of spec Dave.
30:44 - I've changed over to 1 pull for AP. when you change lanes AP and TACC are both disengaged but you dont get that weird slow down. i like that better than TACC staying on during the lane change
Mrs and Mr OOSP DAVE are hilarious !
Regarding the re-activation of Autopilot after lane change: you could also get a product called Commander from Enhance, which is the base for their S3XY Buttons. In the Commander settings, you can activate a smart action called 'Continous Autopilot'. It will automatically reactivate Autopilot after a selectable amount of time after lane change/ blinker shutoff. It is a very nice feature.
Cool! Did not know this
Loved the seemingly SLO-MO video recording in Dubois, PA. Made me laugh.
Wow, there's an old booth on the eastern Ohio border too but they at least installed ezpass on it. But there was no ez pass only lane 🤦🏾 but the solar eclipse was awesome 😎
Who doesn't love @outofspecmom? Yea, as she said - Tesla does know more than you and Kyle - :) We have the same car, except we went with the yoke. Ok, it was on the lot. After 2k+ miles, we are happy with that option. As a fellow Floridian, I hope to run into you and your better half at a Tesla SC sometime/where in the Sunshine State.
The S3XY buttons Commander can fix that lane change issue you were talking about. When you change lanes and AP turns off, the Commander will automatically turn AP back on when the lane change is complete.
The Merc & Genesis in 12 months or less will be road tripping at least in the US thanks to access to the superchargers which will be interesting as some SC sites could be full of non-Tesla cars charging and the broken 4 bay EA station down the road will be empty collecting cobwebs.
You need the Continuous Autopilot function that comes with the S3XY Buttons or Knob!
In Ohio the State Patrol used to say 9 over you’re fine, 10 over you’re mine. Keep it under 80.
I read that statistically red cars get the most speeding tickets. I wonder why. PS I like how Kathy held onto the roof there when you were coming up on that tractor trailer. Keep up the great videos.
Ohio is behind the times on tollways. In Oklahoma, the turnpikes have platepay. You don't have to stop at all, the toll plaza has cameras that read your plate and bill you.
No we are not we have upgraded
As someone who had someone driving their car who decided to go through ez pass instead of paying. I assure you they will send you a bill in the mail.
Ask Kathy if she's ever been to Intercourse PA
Dave get the S3XY buttons they have enabled lane change Auto-pilot resume, great feature worth the fee and lot less than Enhanced Auto-pilot.
Ohio turnpike rest areas probably are decent thanks to PA turnpike setting an example. 😉
My guess is. there is a current limit set on the charging so the lower the pack voltage the lower the max charge.
What a great road trip with the wifey!
This was another great video. It is interesting watching you roadtrip in a Tesla. I just drove from Los Angeles to Las Vegas (and back) in our '22 Mach-e. Two weeks prior, we drove from LA to Morro Bay (central California). You know the Chevy Bolt owner has no clue that they can only charge at a 55 kW rate. Pathetic. The state of non-Tesla charging is abysmal out there. Yet, whenever I was looking for a charger, I'd see Tesla supercharging everywhere. I have now three NACS adapters on order and hopefully will get one Septober 32nd. Oh, and I never thought I'd want even heated seats. Now that I'm older than dirt (according to my son) I love my heated seat. At least I have leather and not the artificial stuff on Tesla seats.
There was a story recently about a Ford owner who was charging at a Tesla Supercharger (I believe in California) that had the "Tesla Only" signs and a Tesla owner (who was charging, there was no wait) called the cops. I doubt the signs are legally enforceable, since they seem to have been put their by Tesla (and the fact that you can charge at the station shows Tesla has approved you to charge at that location). In this case, from what I recall the Ford had basically finished charging and left before the cops showed up, so nothing really happened.
i have eqs 580 , 22, sedan has so much room its insane ,better ride , more mileage ,, when ever i look at the suv ,i say why what's the gain
With FSD I have not experienced the slow down prior to lane changes behind a vehicle. You drive a 100K vehicle…pony up for $99 FSD subscription and try out the lane changes! Can’t imagine driving cross country and NOT having automatic lane changes as well as the other FSD features. Just saying…
Yuppers
I was confused by that quirky Supercharger (please use other side) as well on the Ohio Turnpike on the way back to Long Island. PA superchargers on 80 stink, most are V2s.
Someone needs to make a massaging seats retrofit for the model x
Let’s goooo
Dave, ramping up a battery to full speed on very low SoC (under 7 or so percent) is not great for the battery if done all the time. It's the same with the last 10 to 15% of the battery, so Tesla limits the rampup to full until it gets above that. So 10% is a great SoC to plug in. You can do it occasionally with no issues, but you shouldn't do it very often.
As for the Bolt (and its 55kw maximim it can do) on the 350kw with the 150's free right next to it, what else did you expect? They do it ALL the time. You can explained it to them over and over and they still keep doing it. Which was the goal for GM to beging with.
As you know, Tesla fixes all that by making all the chargers the same speed. That will confuse the hell out of them when they get access. "But which one is the highest, I need to plug into the highest. Where's the screen?"
No more EAP since FSD prices have dropped
Did you guys stop in and see Tom on your way past?
At 6:23, the students are all home looking for eggs.
Lmao. The eye looks. U 2 funny
Thanks, Dave and Kathy! I'll be doing this same road trip in a week and this was invaluable. BTW on regular autopilot, I found if I step slightly on the accelerator before putting the turn signal on, then the car won't slow down coming up on the car/truck in front. More annoyingly, I have to wait for the 'ding' that disengages autopilot before manually changing lanes, else it tries to pull me back and it jerks as it disengages.
What is the deal with the napkin above the rear view mirror?
Dave wher did u find her?? Logical thinking an following directions new oos Ha
The Chevrolet Bolt driver is strictly convinced that his EV charges faster on 350 kW EA station vs 150 kW even the physics, common sense, you, Dave and Kyle, plus manufacturers say otherwise.
Massaging seats - make sure that you road test them as they aren’t all created equal! The Germans don’t give you particularly good massages from their seats and my car’s massage feels like a baker’s rolling pin moving up and down inside the seat back - nothing like a proper massage, in fact it’s really unpleasant to use and once started there’s no way to stop it until it reaches the end of its programmed 20 minutes cycle or I switch off the “ignition” and open the driver’s door…………. The car is the new Mini Countryman. S E Sport L3 BEV.
I believe that the Koreans and Chinese car makers make best massaging seats. I heard the Mercedes massage seat effect described as “ a cat walking up and down your spine!”
8:00 into the video - im guess yall get home at 10pm
8:40 p.m.!!
Man you’re touring all the college campuses, but when you stopped in Iowa city you didn’t even mention the Hawkeyes!😜
Oops
Beautiful campus. Maybe next time clean the windshield.
I did. Afterwards though: apologies!
@@dconner9 No problem. Wish Tesla Superchargers had windshield cleaners. I guess Tesla wants us to carry the windshield cleaning supplies inside our Tesla.
Without dog mode Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV will not be good enough for you even with perfect seats equipped with massaging, and with a real world range close to 450 miles, and with an adapter to be able to use Tesla Superchargers V3 when approved.
28:00 Yes, Ohio state police doesn't f around. They are everywhere and they are ruthless!!!
I'm pretty sure they're all iin Ohio.
You don't need a dedicated dog mode. Just turn A/C on remotely from the app in the Benz. Problem solved.
I'd hate to drive my Model Y with Kyle in the car. Don't get me wrong, I've learned a lot from him, I just wouldn't want to drive with him unless he's the driver. 😁
Dave and Kathy are my TH-cam parents.
Excellent! I get a new tax deduction now
You sed it wrong Dave, you say it like Due.boys
Kathy, let Dave buy the new Porsche Macan.
(53:31) Dubois, Pa maybe a French word, but they don’t pronounce it as such. More like do-boys.
the lords town foxconn plant was tghe old GM Chevy Cruse plant than sold to Lordstown Motors to do EV trucks Total failure than FOXCONN got involved than pulled their investments
I’ve always enjoyed the content you present but I don’t think I’ve watched anything over the past few months because I am not going to spend the same amount of time as a movie. I’m willing to bet that this can be a 18 minute video. Until these are scaled down to reasonable length, I don’t think I have enough time in the day to view these.
No worries; I am going to still make the content I want to make. Appreciate you kind words and understand you need to pick your spots
Some time you just have admit your wife is right 😅
News update about TESLA Auto pilot ( copied from CNBC ) > Federal authorities say a “critical safety gap” in Tesla’s Autopilot system contributed to at least 467 collisions, 13 resulting in fatalities.
The findings come from a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration analysis of 956 crashes in which Tesla Autopilot was thought to have been in use.
Tesla’s Autopilot design has “led to foreseeable misuse and avoidable crashes,” the NHTSA report said.
Is the 'safety gap' a result of drivers relying too much on Autopilot and not paying good enough attention to the road? I don't know, I'm just presuming this would be the case in most of the incidents.
