So many YTers make it seem like owning and running an etsy business is a fairytale, but there's really so many things that go wrong lol

Some orange cats (like flamepoint ragdolls) do indeed get more orange in the cold. So I think that's a great rationalization for the difference in the winter puddin and valentines day puddin.
I honestly can align both my creativity and productivity with my menstrual cycle!
Fellow artist and small business owner here and it’s so refreshing seeing you talk about forcing creativity and having unproductive weeks - I think sometimes we feel pressured to be productive and churn out new designs constantly, but in reality sometimes our brains just don’t work like that. Fab and calming vlog as always! 🥰💗💫
I absolutely am the Queen of procrastination 🤣🤣 not an illustrator though .. I just have some days a month where nothing gets done 🤣🙌 those new pins are just beautiful 😍

idk if you know yet but eye twitches are usually caused by stress or lack of sleep, it’s not usually something to be really concerned about but please look after yourself and give yourself some more rest! thanks for your updates it keeps me inspired to keep trying ❤️
its real easy, you stop when people stop ordering your calendar. so if it is June and your calendar is still in high demand, you keep restocking :)
I think you hit the nail on the head about the productive or hustle because i have been feeling this way. I dont want to push it and do things i dont want to do or love and release them... but its so frustrating. I totally get it and thank you for including that. I have those days where i cannot draw for nothing... or nothing i draw i just dont like it...
I think the calendar should be full price until Feb and I would maybe keep them on with a good discount for at least 6 months. The illustrations are beautiful so I’m sure you would still sell them. 😊

oh yes, I have bad art days all the time. I either do packaging stuff or just binge watch things.
I’d stop selling late feb- but I’d definitely plan to do a mid-year calendar if possible, so July 2023- june 2024 as people who don’t start a calendar in Jan (or missed out on your 2023 full year) can get one!
Thank you for sharing the challenge at times with being creative as a career, I struggle with that and then feel bad. I usually switch to a different creative outlet such as practicing my flute, and then hopefully I can come back to my other creative work with a fresh mind.
Hello Catherine, loved you in the lime green top with the grey skirt. The lime green really suits your complexion. Calendars I would stop in early March at the latest. But that’s just me. Always look forward to your vlogs.

I like that you do not have a pristine or aesthetic studio space. Love seeing all of your office spaces. Shows everyone how you work and move from thing to thing or space to space. As always you are a person that we all can relate to. Showing us your business, how you run it, create things as well as your ups and downs with business and creativity makes people who have a business or starting one see the real side of things. Not just the scripted perfection that tends to be seen and makes everyone think that its always perfect or 'oh my I am not there yet' or ' oh wow I am never going to get to that' Thank you for everything that you do!

When I have days where I have to force my art I free draw for a bit, I know you needed to focus and get it done, but sometimes doing something totally different sparks the creativity and passion again.
Also too procrastinating can be a sign of burn out or fear of failure. Make sure you have time to draw just for fun too! It doesn’t always have to be for work or sale. I know this is your income, but creative burnout is real.
My therapist tells me sometimes the most productive thing is to do nothing at all to let your mind and body reset. Girl, take a week off from everything! No making things, no selling things, no going anywhere, just chill.
We’ll still be here, but with the eye twitch and how your designs weren’t working don’t fight that. You’re a human and you need to be kind to yourself right now. Art has its ebbs and flows, it’s okay if this doesn’t get launched, it’s okay if a design doesn’t work, hell does it even need to be Valentine’s Day themed? I was just reading too Etsy has a thing now for people to opt out and not see Valentine’s Day things now as well because not everyone likes it. I’m not trying to discourage you, but take care of yourself!! Art is supposed to be something the creator and viewer both enjoy every step of the process.
We all love you and your work and it would break my heart if you hurt yourself or had a serious breakdown from the pressure.
We are not meant to always be on and productive, we need nothingness and rest. In fact, it’s in moments of those that our creative drive will come back. Please take care of yourself!! I can tell you’ve been so overwhelmed. You work every day and too damn hard. I had to unlearn a lot of this type of thinking, but we need lazy days too.

@@KatnippStudios I know it’s easier said than done, but don’t feel pressure either that your art vlogs need to be about the studio or your business, while they’re nice to watch, it’s okay to show us you bumming out on the couch just doodling whatever. Even if you need to take a break from TH-cam take it. I see part of what you’re going through what happened to me and now I have a chiropractor every week and a therapist I’ve been seeing since summer because it was too much and I never got my mental ducks in order. Burn out lasts for a while and it’s really depressing when the drive to draw comes back but you need to rest…
I would love to see you make another illustration that you just make for fun. While I love your characters, my favorite design was the girl you made on that tote bag because you were so excited about it and proud that it was an unplanned design!

Maybe you could look into cycle syncing your creative tasks to the beginning of your cycle, there are tons of theories of this, could be an idea ;)

I feel you on the off-days for drawing! Sometimes it just happens, and I totally agree: Anything I create when I try to force through a bad mood or a bad drawing day just ends up being a bad result, too. So I try to manage my energy instead of my time. When inspiration hits, I try to drop everything and get to painting :). Gotta go with the flow! Thanks for the kind reminder in this video that this is a solid approach :D.

I can SO relate to that 'bad drawing day' - sometimes the pen just doesn't feel right on the iPad, or like my hand won't cooperate and move/apply pressure the way I usually do. I find the best thing is to be kind to yourself and just go for a walk and try again another day.

About the Bumblebutt pin... It can be that he got the glitter wings after going to space, like little stars got stuck in them or something. Maybe he always dreamt of being the queen bee, so he thought if he could catch a star, he would be considered part of royalty, IDK. I think he would be really innocent and dreamy about life, so in his mind would make sense.
He caught a star, but when entering the atmosphere it shattered and covered his wings????

Everyone has off days no matter if its in personal like or work life or what job it is you do. Its normal. Also i think yeh it is good to make a weekly planner but its also normal and fine for some jobs to be skipped for another day. It is good to be able to Juggle jobs or tasks. I do not do New Years resolutions etc because i think ...what will happen will happen with what ever mood i am in at the time

Actually, can I just say how amazed I am by your continued commitment and years of hard work to get where you are now? Keeping organised when no one is telling you what needs doing, etc. is so hard. I am learning this now as I study after being made redundant and working in the same role for a decade and a half .. I am struggling to get my day into some shape of schedule and this is so damn hard. How do you do it? Even after watching so may 'DITL' I can't figure it out lol .. kudos. For real. You got this! And I used to be so organised in my job lol
I’m literally at the start of the video, but in regards to your organization description, look up “the Clutterbug philosophy” or Clutterbug here on TH-cam! She defines organization types in 4 styles (including wanting to hide stuff/out of sight, out of mind) and how you can cater to it and organize in the best way for you!

I feel this so much right now. I have a con coming up in February, my first time being a vendor and this week has been such a hard week to draw anything, like I sit down to draw but it feels so forced. And I think having a deadline makes it so much worse, but I know I have to push through to have enough inventory for this convention.
Do you ever get burnt out from trying to think of new ideas? I always wanted to try and do creative things but they come in bursts with weeks to months in between. In this day and age I always feel like artists are pressured to have something new out on a daily basis

Thanks for this post, and the reality check for small business creatives such as yourself! (BTW: You and Dean should also be proud of your journey to health and fitness. You are both looking the trim couple!) You must already know that one of the telltale signs of not feeling creative is when it stops feeling like play. I don't think it's about inspiration as much as it is about feeling playful in your headspace. That's likely why it felt forced for you and more like a grind. It may be Catherine, you'll have to discover pathways back into your playful space (i.e., the Zone)when you get the zoomies that pull you into pits of procrastinatiion. Cheers! 💗

OhMGosh! Your pin collection is top notch! So relatable here as I print all my stuff at home and messed up on a sticker pack I have worked on for so long....I merged the layers. So I can't fix it and I know better! Yikes, so now I'm gonna scrap it and at the moment trying to get my greeting card and sticker out for V-Day.... Were you perhaps using references at all during your drawing process? I think if I have a bad drawing day sometimes I’ll think hmm maybe im missing some references that could provide inspiration. Which yes sometimes ends in a rabbit hole down Pinterest but at least that’s semi productive if you find some good references!
