Saw the bernina video and I thought wow my mom's been doing it wrong all this while? Then I come here and you use the same 'start' technique of rolling the hem up befire feeding and majority are saying finally a method that works. So mom was right all along. Never had an issue hemming with this method. Thank you for the video.

Tamara Jones, remember you can ask your Bernina Dealer for help on a presser foot you bought from them. At least we do that, we try to make sure our customers understand how to use it so they are not frustrated with their purchase.

Your tutorial is very helpful! I received this foot for Christmas and found the instructions on the package insert that came with the foot to be very inadequate. I want to use this foot for lightweight, silky fabrics so if you have any additional tips on how to maximize success for fabrics that have a lot of 'slip', please share. Thank you!

It seems all the videos show straight seems. How about when trying to hem a finished garment, how do you handle the side seams that one has to hem over?
I have #62 (2mm) and can't get this thing to work using the method Bernina International shows on their website. I'll give this method a try, you gave some awesome pointers they didn't mention. Is #62 suitable for quilter's cotton, or would #64 (4mm) be better?
Hi Kate, If I had to pick between Foot #62 and #64 I would pick #64 for quilters cotton. Foot #63 is my favorite for cotton fabric. It finishes at 3mm. Hope this helps. ~Sara~

Yes you can get hemmer feet for the older Bernina machines. Just make sure they come in a red box and have black lettering on the foot instead of the white box with the red lettering. Your local Bernina dealer can get them for you if they do not have them in stock.

Very curvy edges can be a challenge. The only tip is to be sure to stay-stitch the edge before using the hemmer foot. If they are too curvy the foot will not be your best choice. ~Sara~
Bernina hemmer feet are available for all Bernina models old and new. Please contact your local Bernina dealer with your Bernina model number and they will assist with getting you the correct version of these feet for your machine. If you have any questions, we would be happy to help.

I was taught to stitch the edge of fabric once and use the thread to pull the fabric thru to start. It's actually just as effective....
And it works like a little stay stitch also

Hi - Yes, it can be difficult to get through seams. I have been known to press open the seams and then trim a little of the seam allowance away.

orestesdd Yes genuine Bernina parts are more expensive and use better materials. That is a good price for a bobbin case.
