Sleeping for Just 3-3.5 hrs is clearly the sign that Allah SWT has blessed him. May Allah bless all of us.

    يَا أَيُّهَا الْمُزَّمِّلُ * قُمِ اللَّيْلَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا * نِصْفَهُ أَوِ انْقُصْ مِنْهُ قَلِيلًا *
Some scholars indicated that, sleeping after the Eshaa and between 1:00am equalls almost more than eight hours. And that is what most of prophets AS and people in Salef did use.
I personally tried this the results were amusing. I slept around 9: 00pm and got up around 2:00am like I have slept a whole night. So let's keep sleeping early hours of the night instead of late hours it has more Barakah.
    Allah knows the best.

It all depends on one's passion & mindset. A person would still feel lazy and sleepy after sleeping 8 hrs if they have no higher purpose and goal in life. But a Muslim strives to earn's Allah's love and pleasure. The fire of love is sufficient to keep one awake and sleep less.

Save this comment, If Allāh wills, It will benefit you in your whole life. (Specially for practicing muslims including Tahajjud)
In my opinion as I gained the knowledge, experienced & understood the methods. Sleep doesn’t depends on hours but it fully depends on the seasons of sunset, & sunrise. In winter everyone knows the night becomes longer & day shortens.
You should sleep 2 times in 24 hours. 1st at Night & the 2nd at Mid-Day. (Before Zuhr is Sunnah of the last prophet & the maximum companions).
In my country, we can Sleep 7.5 hours in winter & 6 hours in summer MAXIMUM from Ishaa to Fajr.
Just calculate, there is 1.5 hours of difference between two major changing seasons.
In Summer we have long days & we feel sleepy at noon. So we take a short nap where many research says the time of nap should be between 15 minutes to 90 minutes (1.5 hrs).
So, I will advice you to sleep 7 hours daily (including nap). How ??
If it is Summer season, Sleep 5.5 hours at night & remaining 1.5 hours at noon.
& If it is winter season, sleep 7 hours at night & also take short nap of 15 minutes at noon because there are many hadith of sleeping at noon. You’ll be rewarded deeds & it can also energize your remaining next half day.
So I try to target 7 hours+ of sleep in 24 hours. Quality Sleep.
& If you pray Tahajjud (30 minutes). Add 30 minutes extra at Noon (Nap Sleep).
Your body is Amaanah. Feed it well 🙃

If you think that you should decrease the time you sleep try to sleep that exact hrs for 21 days like if you want to sleep for 4hrs you have to practice it for 21 days and after that your sleep patern will be changed to it.
You might feel drowsy but you must keep it in your mind not to sleep during the day.

well I also felt the same, problem is that when i felt that is when i used to spend the night on social media, youtube, watching movies, or playing vidoe games............ believe my, if you lose your sleep, try to pray or do tasbeeh, dhikhr or even read the quran with the light on....... believe me if it is past 10pm , you wont last 30 minutes...... shaytan himself will massage you to help you sleep....... problem is not that some people cant sleep early, its what they're doing that maintaint their adrenaline high, and prevent them from sleeping earlier.
