Gerubach, i don't know if i had stated this in your channel before, but i thank you behalf of musicians from all around the globe for your labor of spreading the sheet music of these great works here on TH-cam. Forever grateful to you
I "gould"'nt hear that version; listening to harpsichord I NEVER think of glenn, but rather of Scott Ross or Kenneth Gilbert, ... Many other performers on Harpsichord, but certainly not on piano; let alone piano FORTE! LOL
Couldn't help but notice: the second movement (Adagio) has a similar chord progression (3:57-4:32) as the "Ave Maria di Caccini". Check it out: th-cam.com/video/IDHyn7pCZEQ/w-d-xo.html

There are thousands of pieces which use the same or a similar chord progression. It's actually very interesting to find that many pieces that maybe you already know have that same armonical structure underneath. It's a very interesting topic to discuse. To name at least two of that other pieces, and very different examples: Handel's "Sarabande" in G minor and Gloria Gaynor's "I will survive".
As much as I love Bach's work, this piece doesn't really do it for me. The harpsichord is a great instrument, but the piece was written for oboe and it sounds best with oboe. I usually really like Bach's transcriptions, but this is an exception for me.
That’s kind of funny, since this is usually most people’s favorite arrangement by Bach, and is certainly by far the best known. To each their own, I guess.
Horribly affected rhythm alterations, with zero understanding of the harmonic, melodic, or structural context. "Baroque" has become synonym of "I will do whatever I feel like doing" in order to "interpret" the music under the guise of "historical performance."
this woman is a great harpsichordist !!!

The adagio is sublime
Very good !
Excelente...!!!
Thanks!
Bach really admired Marcello right? wonderful music
Lord Chameleon hope he didnt. Marcello didnt deserve it.
How could one dislike Marcello??!?
thomase13 i dont dislike marcello but his quality can't compare to bach's
If Bach likes Marcello, maybe has enough quality for Bach and maybe for us too.
Bach could have created a great concerto based on the sound of a creaky door hinge.
This is one of those pieces where every time I hear it, I automatically hear Gould's version.
I don't hear Gould when listening to Harpsichord music LOL

It's the music that makes me think of Gould. The fact this is on a harpsichord is not relevant. Gould's version is fantastic.
Thanks for taking me to the Gould interpretation...since yesterday I ve heard it more than 5 times !!!
Just listened to the gould version; it even doesn't sound as Bach's music, it sounds as... glenn gouldn't FCOL
Impressive
Sigue así...!!!

It's a fake en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ave_Maria_(Vavilov). You clearly are not a musician or you'd have realized it at once.
Circle of fifths bruh
Vladimir Vavilov is the author of ave maria

for this piece, no one beats Mr. gould.
A Harpsichordist can, simple as that
@@CodeNameParis Though I wish Scott Ross or Pierre Hantai would have been the chosen harpsichordist for this one.
@@CodeNameParis fuck that sorta instrumental purism.
@@sameash3153 I'm not an instrument purist, I simply prefer how most (not all) of Bach's ouvre sounds on the Harpsichord, rather than the piano.
