The first step is two years of clearing deadwood and what good manager wants to be around for that so who are they gonna get? Keep him, clear the squad out and replace them with academy players, and don’t spend any money on new players. Then two years from now when you have money to spend and the atmosphere has changed, get a proper manager.

I’ll make no apology for saying that United have the lowest standards of any big club in English football. Even Spurs, who everyone mocks, sacked Conte and Mourinho when they had only had a bad few months and still sat in the top 8 of the table. Arsenal sacked Emery when they were 8th and he’d only had a bad three months at the start of the season. Chelsea always sack underperforming managers within 3-4 months. Liverpool, even when they were at rock bottom, had high enough standards to take the painful decision to remove arguably their biggest ever legend in Dalglish when their results and position in the table wasn’t good enough. Genuinely cannot believe there are still United fans who back this guy just because of an FA Cup, which they only got the chance to win after fluking a win against a Coventry side in the division below them.
