  • Purchased at Tractor Supply. These are my instructions on how to install the 60 and 50 gallon PTO sprayers by FIMCO. Something I didn't point out in the video is that the 90-degree hose fittings also come with the kit which connect the pump to the hoses. The owner's manuals that came with them are only good for campfire kindling, so I made a video to help people out and understand what to do for the installation.

    I just purchased mine from Tractor Supply. It came packaged and it was until after it was uncrated, that I found a ton of parts to assemble, with no instructions on assembly. I am glad I found this video. Thanks for posting it.

    Great no nonsense video on this sprayer. I bought two of these but with the boomless sprayer. The manual is quit useless especially the picture on connecting the hoses to tank and pump. The picture in my manual is backwards. Great video.

    Does this sprayer agitate the chemicals while the PTO is running with the sprayer turned off? Trying to understand if the system helps mix chemicals while operating. TIA

      I bought the agitator and added it to the sprayer kit. It does not come with the sprayer kit. So it will agitate the chemicals while the PTO is running however you need to purchase the separate kit from the manufacturer.

    Thanks so much for the video. I wonder if perhaps the sprayer should have included a 0-100 psi p;ressure gage, not a 0-400 psi. Does the manual recommend your nozzles be run at 40 psi or something different?

      I gave up on the manual. I used it for campfire kindling. I just turned the dial and eyeballed it until the pressure looked good.

    Thanks the great video. Have you been happy with the sprayer? Can you adjust the spray nozzles? I guess there is an off/on switch to use when driving.

    • @sonataq14
      @sonataq14  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I've been very happy with the sprayer. No issues and I've used it numerous times. Unfortunately, you cannot adjust the spray nozzles, however, they are pre-adjusted very well and really wouldn't need changing...even if you could. This is a PTO sprayer, so it is powered by the PTO on your tractor. That's why the pump attaches to the spline in the beginning of my video. The whole system is powered by the Power Take Off on the tractor. There is nothing electrical, it's all mechanical. If you want to stop spraying, then shut off the PTO. If you are using the hand sprayer, your tractor should have a safety mechanism that allows you to lock down the brake and run the rear PTO. To do this, you need to shut the water off on the spray bar (see the time at 4 minutes and 35 seconds on the video to see how to shut the water off on the spray bar). You need to be sitting in the seat to engage it, but then once the PTO is turned on and the brake has been locked, you can hop off the tractor and the rear PTO will continue to spin so you can use the hand sprayer. Then you just simply turn the boiler valve handle (found on my video at time mark...4 minutes and 15 seconds ) and the hand sprayer will begin working.

    Love the video! How do you like the sprayer so far? Thinking about picking one up very soon. I'm sure it has lots more pressure than the electric pumps.

    • @sonataq14
      @sonataq14  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I really like the sprayer. I use it to spray my grass (about 5 acres) to kill weeds and dandelions. That was the main reason for buying it. I had a different sprayer that was electric...and it had poor pressure and the boom arms were nowhere near as wide as these.

    yesterday everything worked great. Today not so much. I am trying to spray with the hand held only but the boom keeps coming on as well. I have turned the values to the correct position but they both come on at the same time. Not sure why the boom is spraying as well. Any advice??

      Hi Randell, when I got everything installed and hooked up to my tractor, it was last August. Since then, I have the sprayer under a cover out in the woods and I probably won't take it out yet for another few weeks yet when I'm ready to spray the lawn. I don't remember if there is some secret combination to turn off the spray bar while turning on just the hand-held sprayer. I would look in the owners manual and get the phone number for their tech support..and have someone walk you through. I remember having tons of problems with the crappy instruction manual they provided, so when I did my installation, I had to call their tech support line...and they actually did connect me with someone right away. The nice thing was that I spoke to someone in engineering and not some phone answering service in India. So, you'll get to speak to a real American. After their tech guy helped me over the phone, that's when I decided to make the video because, as I mentioned, their owners manual is only good for starting a campfire. After you call them and get things going, please reply back to me so everyone else can see the resolution. This video has gotten quite a few views and I imagine that lots of people need help with this unit. Thanks, and I'm really sorry I didn't have the magic answer on this problem.

    Can you measure the distance between the lower 3pt pins? Like the narrowest point inward and the widest point at the tips. Trying to see if it will fit my which hitch and the local stores don't have these in stock.

    • @sonataq14
      @sonataq14  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kyle, right now, for the winter season, I have a ballast on the back of the tractor to weigh it down for driving in the snow. The 3 point hitch cannot move with the ballast on it so I won't be able to measure the shortest distance between the lower 2 pins. I won't be taking the ballast off until springtime. I have the sprayer out in the woods right now under a cover so I won't be accessing that either (for a few months yet).

    Did you have trouble with the pto coupler not being long enough to slide on the pto shaft? I have a Deere 5100e. It’s right shaft size, 540 1 3/8 but not long enough for plastic balls to reach grove on shaft.

    • @sonataq14
      @sonataq14  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't have any problems at all. Other than the instruction manual, the only thing that was really manufactured "half-assed" was the chain to hold the pump from spinning. After I made the video, I used 2 bolts through the chain and into the pump...and then one side of the chain going to each arm on the 3-point hitch. But, no,...I had no problems getting the sleeve on the spline of the PTO.

    • @patrickjoy9551
      @patrickjoy9551 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sonataq14 I would suggest to attach the pump chain to something that does not move. The 3pt arms are not a good place because if they move you can actually damage the pump. I've heard of this actually happening.

    • @sonataq14
      @sonataq14  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@patrickjoy9551 Hi Patrick...last year, after I made the video, I actually got rid of the chain that came with the kit. I replaced it with a much heavier-duty chain. Instead of setting up the chain like I did in my video, I changed the chain setup. There are 2 threaded holes on the bottom of the pump. I took my new chain and cut it in half. One of the half-chains goes from the right hole at the bottom of the pump...to the lower (right) arm on the 3-point hitch. I used the same hole that I did in my video. I did the same thing with the other piece of chain...connecting it to the left threaded hole at the bottom of the pump, and connected it to the lower left arm on the 3-point hitch. The lengths of the chains are perfectly cut so that the arms on the 3-point hitch cannot swing left or right, while keeping the unit centered with the pump at all times.

    What about the valve on the strainer under the tank?

    • @sonataq14
      @sonataq14  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That valve going into that filter turns off the water between the tank and the pump. So, creating an example… if you accidentally smashed the plastic filter casing with a hammer, you could shut the water valve off so you didn't lose all the water in your tank. The valve shuts off the water before it gets to the filter. And then, from the filter, the water goes directly into the pump. Another example… if your tank was full, and the filter was clogged, you can shut the water valve off, remove the filter and clean it, and then put the filter back on without losing anything in the tank.

    But how do you use the wand?

    • @sonataq14
      @sonataq14  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To use the wand....let's start at the beginning. Your tractor will need to be parked. Your tractor will have a safety feature that prevents you from getting off the seat of the tractor. The tractor will shut off if you have the rear PTO engaged while you exit the tractor seat. Your tractor will have an "override" for this. To do this, put your parking brake on, then engage the rear PTO. You can now exit the tractor without the engine (or PTO) shutting off. Now that we have that established, to use the spray wand...fast forward in the video to 4 minutes and 18 seconds. You will see the lever-valve that you need to flip to get water to run to the hand sprayer-wand. Once you flip that valve to the open position, water will flow to the sprayer. Then you simply take the wand out of it's holder on the spray tank, pull the trigger....and start spraying. The nozzle is adjustable.

    Do you know what the two springs on the boom do?

    • @sonataq14
      @sonataq14  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The springs give light tension on the boom arms...so that when you put them into the storage position, they don't flop back out. When the boom arms are fully extended, there is an indent that they stay in. The spring isn't strong enough to pull them out of the fully extended position...but the spring is strong enough to hold them in the storage position. It was engineered quite well. I hope that makes sense.

      @@ChrisJones1974 ... Call up the John Deere dealer in the morning and see how much weight you can throw on the back of the tractor. That's probably the best answer I can give you. If you put a loader on the front of the tractor it would definitely help balance it.
