Gandhi- an interesting Story When we hear the name Gandhi the first thing which comes to our mind is the salt march, an act of non-violent civil disobedience. But who was the man behind the salt march? How did he live? Why did he act like this? The film “Gandhi” was written in 1982 by John Briley only and produced and directed by Richard Attenborough. It starts with Gandhi’s assassination, then the actual story of his live starts. The atmosphere is contemplative and informs about Gandhi’s leadership. He is depicted as a political and spiritual leader against racism and laws in South Africa and later also in India. His principles of equality and tolerance substantiate his position in India’s fight for independence. The movie also deals with his religious tolerance: It is shown that Gandhi told Jinnah that “they were brothers of the same mother India.” Jinnah didn’t support Gandhi’s idea of a tolerant India with Muslims and Hindus. Some scenes ally Indians fighting for their rights showed me that the film wasn’t only about Gandhi rather about the dream of freedom and justice all over the world. Ben Kingsely played Gandhi very authentic and all other actors seemed motivated and serious. In conclusion an interesting movie for everyone who’s interested in history.
Actually I love this movie, but one if my big criticisms of it is that the portrayal of Muhammad Ali Jinnah is simplistic and not entirely inaccurate. Jinnah did not initially push for an independent Pakistan.
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was greatest freedom fighter . We give respect to Gandhi ji and nehru but and even celebrate there birthday but we always forget Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose . I think he deserve more respect.
It was actually Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose himself who was the first one to call Gandhi ji as "the father of the nation". Gandhi ji and his colleagues fought for non-violence and non-cooperation and set an example for the world to look up to. That is why he is respected more than any other freedom fighter and is also celebrated around the world for his pioneering and bold approach to attaining freedom. Netaji took to war, i.e., he indirectly supported the violence associated with it, which was not a new thing for freedom movements around the world. That's why there is not much to celebrate here. PS : To everyone reading this, please don't destroy the dignity of this comment chain with toxic replies to my comment.
I really don't understand why Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, Taj Mahal and others are part of our Philippines' History Book? Maybe I miss something during my elementary and high school days or maybe I'm not paying attention in class..
Because "Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth." ~Albert Einstein for Gandhiji
Firstly, because these were important people internationally. Secondly, because India & Philippines have had historic, social, cultural, religious, trade & political relationships going back thousands of years.
In Canada we learned about many countries in history. The European settlements here and European history in general was the larger part of our history teachings but they taught a fair amount about other countries too. Personally I found other countries, other than Europe, much more interesting. Sadly and disgustingly though they taught us very little about our Indigenous people back when I was in school in the 70s and 80s and I don't know if that's changed. When I was 11, one of my favorite teachers was from India and I wrote my favorite and proudest report on the Taj Mahal.

It’s not like Gandhi himself said it or anything, and we can all see it for ourselves in the trailer so why do you feel the need to post this all over the place? I’m confused by this behavior.. plz explain IF I had to render a guess, I’d say you love this movie so much that you watch it often, but for some reason you watch the trailer first to hype yourself up or something. Then every time you hear that line you’re like “oh my gosh, that is SOO PROFOUND!!! I MUST share this feeling with the whole world!”. Is that about right? Cuz I mean, we’ve all had that feeling before but it’s the dedication to post it in as many places as you have that confuses me..

Bharat (in case you never heard this name, it is India's name in Indian languages) is a nation from times immemorial. There were valid gievences against Gandhi for many in India, killing him for these is not justified though.
If that so, if Prime minister modi stated that she will not be forgiven, than why she's holding her position till date ? After stating such statements which assassins character of one of the most respected and important figure of not only india but for some other countries too in the world like South Africa, that lady should be have presented before the court. Or atleast should have terminated from her position. And I agree that Gadhi may not be the father of the nation. And infact there were many great personalities in the Indian history to be at the position of father of the nation, some of which are greater than Gandhi be it like Aryabhatta who gave the world most important gift which is zero the fun part is in many instances zero is considered, which has no value but yet the most valuable number. And Shushruta a great physician. And there are many more. Well i know Bharat / Bharata and the name of India which is derived from Sanskrit language and also if I'm not wrong there was a prince name Bharata in india. Also india got many names like hindustan , jambudwipa and there were also few japanese and Hebrew terms which is dicy. And at last India name given by Brits.

This movie is just a pacification to make Westerners guilty and accept many wrong things by making them fall in guilt trap. Gandhi wanted the perpetrators to feel guilty, not their innocent sons and daughters who did and are doing nothing wrong. The US Army bombs the middle East and guilt traps its own citizens for activities they never did or never paid taxes for! These are all mind games. Gandhi was a great saint of ours, but he wrote in English too. If Westerners are interested they should just read him. He was an evolving person, his opinions got better over time. So best to read Gandhi as a progression rather than read his few early books.

@Boris Sladakovic WTF xD
Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Well There wasn’t corona at that time
They were suffering from Colonial virus back then, reducing the social distance was the only way
No, they are not.
Gandhi- an interesting Story
When we hear the name Gandhi the first thing which comes to our mind is the salt march, an act of non-violent civil disobedience.
So well put
@Marshall Kinnaird same thing pops up in my mind when i hear the word CHURCHILL
Actually I love this movie, but one if my big criticisms of it is that the portrayal of Muhammad Ali Jinnah is simplistic and not entirely inaccurate. Jinnah did not initially push for an independent Pakistan.
1. sir ben kingsley born for this role.
2. daniel day-lewis as an extra in this movie.

I really don't understand why Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, Taj Mahal and others are part of our Philippines' History Book? Maybe I miss something during my elementary and high school days or maybe I'm not paying attention in class..
Because
"Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth." ~Albert Einstein for Gandhiji
Firstly, because these were important people internationally. Secondly, because India & Philippines have had historic, social, cultural, religious, trade & political relationships going back thousands of years.
Take it out we don't care about Philippines lol we barely heard that country

In Canada we learned about many countries in history. The European settlements here and European history in general was the larger part of our history teachings but they taught a fair amount about other countries too. Personally I found other countries, other than Europe, much more interesting. Sadly and disgustingly though they taught us very little about our Indigenous people back when I was in school in the 70s and 80s and I don't know if that's changed. When I was 11, one of my favorite teachers was from India and I wrote my favorite and proudest report on the Taj Mahal.
This movie and “Cry Freedom,” deserve a “Criterion,” treatment!
Both of them directed by Attenborough.

Damn bro, I’ve seen you post this same exact comment multiple times on several different trailers for this movie, sometimes months apart! What’s your deal?
Like you know that’s just a quote from the ppl who made the movie right? It’s not like Gandhi himself said it or anything, and we can all see it for ourselves in the trailer so why do you feel the need to post this all over the place? I’m confused by this behavior.. plz explain
IF I had to render a guess, I’d say you love this movie so much that you watch it often, but for some reason you watch the trailer first to hype yourself up or something. Then every time you hear that line you’re like “oh my gosh, that is SOO PROFOUND!!! I MUST share this feeling with the whole world!”. Is that about right? Cuz I mean, we’ve all had that feeling before but it’s the dedication to post it in as many places as you have that confuses me..

not true, Gandhi was assassinated by N.V.Godse who belonged to Hindu Mahasabha which also fought elections and was defeated. The current regime in India has no connection to Hindu Mahasabha.
@@Bhadrudu If I'm not wrong a minister from the ruling party of India named Pragya Thakur seem to be delivering pro Godse slogans and no wonder that the ruling party have soft spots on them. In another account one lady , pardon i forgot the name . Deliberately shooting effigy of Mahatma Gandhi which had baloons inside it with red colors to resemble the blood.
And all this are either root level ministers or sympathisers of the Ruling party. If the root level of the party is sympathisers of the man who murdered the father of the nation which also celebrated how can any one get convinced that the elite post holders of the same party are somewhat different.
@@asishbarman8192 Pragya Thakur expressed her opinion about Gandhi & N.V.Godse; it is her personal opinion and the party does not endorse it. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he would not forgive her for her statement.
By the way Gandhi is NOT father of the nation. The concept of father of nation itself is false concept cooked up by foreigners and their Indian stooges.
@@asishbarman8192 what position of Pragya Thakur? she is not a minister.
