Having "gracefully fallen" into the martech industry and hearing what that Austin has said, it's comforting to know there's a valid career and avenue in this role that a fair amount of companies and sectors are still struggling to understand

One more comment for good luck: the point he makes at the end about MarTech tooling is so germane, "you'll never be an expert because there's way too many tools to be an expert on." This is why personally I have struggled to pursue the actual certifications and training pipelines for platforms like Adobe or Salesforce, it's hard to know you're committing to hundreds of hours of reading and study for tasks within the platform that are required for the test, but are not solving an urgent problem for the business at that moment. It's hard to justify spending time to learn how to grant user permissions to someone in finance when you're also trying to implement a client-side attribution model for your web application that accounts for freemium user conversions due to remarketing ads...etc.
