I never understood why the other characters were always accusing him of not pulling his weight and being a cockroach. He was constantly doing things for people without recognition. A lot of what he did just happened when the others weren't around and he didn't go around trying to convince people of his contributions like others did, such as Clark. The deals he worked out, the chess games, saving those kids, running the camp while the others were gone and not telling them he had held it together all that time, going on a pilgrimage that lasted a couple of years to come to grips with himself, taking a mind chip to give up his mindspace knowing it would kill him, etc... He's the most solid and underappreciated character in the whole series.
While I agree on every thing you said about Murphy and mentioning Clark is pretty reasonable in this context, I find it ironic that Clark treated Murphy better than others people did. She gave him benefit of the doubt and didn't accused of things he hadn't done cause they were all in difficult situation and tried their best to survive.
After all he's done, you just cant hate him. John Murphy is the reason I love this show. Unlike most characters in 100, he just seems so realistic. He adapts to the enviroment but he's not a pretender. :-)
