- [UPDATE, 12-09-2024: Beyond happy over the last decade and so to see how many people love this upload. :) This will not be Unlisted, Deleted or Privatised but I'd like to also point you folks to two newer YT uploads from a cleaner, 50fps source. For the Making-Of, go here: • "Snow White and the Se... and for the actual Closing section after, go here: • "Snow White and the Se... ...or don't! Either way, enjoy yourselves. :D]
A continuation from the VHS trailer reel video I uploaded and, unlike that, it doesn't seem to have been uploaded by anyone else before me (unless anyone would like to prove me wrong) so...here you go! This includes the fantastic "Making Of" featurette they put right after the film that has previously only been on TH-cam as a "shot through a TV" screen capture, which REALLY isn't as good as having it uploaded like this, eh? Anyway, ENJOY!
CONTENTS!:
1) "SOOOOOME DAAAAAY WHEN SPRIIIIIIING IS HEEEEERE" goosebumps / Le Fin / 1993 Remaster credits
2) The Making of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" (This lasts for about 11 minutes and its absolutely brilliant so I'm not going to say anything else on this additional note here, just enjoy!)
3) "Coming Soon from Walt Disney Home Video"
4) Promos for "Mickey's Christmas Carol", "Sing Along Songs: The Twelve Days of Christmas" (Think this was what my hospital played in the children's ward cafeteria when I was in hospital once. Other than that, haven't seen this, looks nice though.), "A Walt Disney Christmas", "Winnie the Pooh & Christmas Too!" & "Sing Along Songs: Very Merry Christmas Songs" (...I should of waited until this Christmas to upload this now, ah whatever, no harm in something like this early, right? ;) )
5) "Also Available from Walt Disney Home Video"
6) "Bambi" Home Video Promo (Ah Disney, never stop misadvertising your infamous "this film ruined me, his mother died out of nowhere" movie as fun and whimsical.)
7) "Also Available from Walt Disney Home Video" (Twice? Oh, okay...)
8) "Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey" trailer
9) Jim Henson Home Video (AWR YEAH!)
"A Muppet Movie"
"The Great Muppet Caper" (Nice effect to literally turn London "upside down". ;) )
"It's The Muppets!" (Who else was p-ed off when the 2011 Muppet movie changed the location of the studios of "The Muppet Show" from London to California? Just me? Well, okay.)
"Muppet Sing Alongs: Billy Bunny's Animal Songs!" ("ROAR! ROAR! That is what we really do BEST!" Gosh, I would of loved this video as a kid, never had it though.)
10) "Look Out for Future Releases from Walt Disney Home Video"
imagine being right there in the cinema on the premiere date, witnesing the birth of a legend, getting hit by that ending orchestra. it must have felt amazing. nothing like today.
Yeah i wish i could travel back to that time or even better, helping them that would be even better 😉👌
Holy crap, December 21, 1937... And this year December 21, 2017 marks the 80th anniversary of Snow White and the Seven Drawfs, the very first Disney movie ever!!!!
Wow, I have to admit: the unfinished and never before seen animation for the film was a delight to watch! A shame it was never shown in the film.
You're welcome on being able to see/hear it here and such. :D And yeah, it's a fun little deleted scene.
Fun fact: the guy who animated the entire scene was really proud it that when Walt decided to not put it in the film cause it felt unnecessary. He felt so heartbroken by this that when Walt started doing Pinocchio, he felt pity for him and decided to make him be responsible for animating Jimminy Cricket.
I use to watch this VHS at my Grandparents house in Cuffley, back in the 90s in my childhood.
When I watched this interesting documentary short on the making of Snow White as a kid in the 1990's on VHS it was interesting. But as a grown adult watching this again after so many years, it has gotten more and more interesting. Amazing into how so much time, money, effort, fear and sweat was endured into the making of a pioneering full length animated film. The computer animated films of today are just a load of peer utter disgrace and shame. Showing no interest or humor that are seen in the older classics. Snow White is a true treasure of a film.
You're welcome over this little making-of featurette being avaliable in a way that you find satisfying. :)
+Great Western MGM I couldn't have said it better myself. I was a kid in the 90s too, so I guess you could say that we were spoiled to have grown up with such great animated films--it amazed me back then (and still does) how people could bring simple drawings to life like magic. And I agree that from my experience, CG animation doesn't have the same warmth, depth, and life of hand-drawn traditional animation. Even limited animation styles are more enjoyable for me despite being looking less "realistic." And because of the false stigma that animation is only for kids, most animation today is loaded with immature, childish humor that makes it less enchanting and more crass. I briefly considered an animation career but decided against it once I realized that most of the feature film animation on this side of the Pacific was going to CG, a move that greatly saddens my heart. How I wish we could have more animators take the kinds of risks that Walt Disney did with Snow White, or that others like Don Bluth made later on.
My favourite 'Making of' documentary about Snow White. Even now, the last minute never fails to bring tears to my eyes. Thank you so much. Why Disney has never put this on the DVD or Bluray, I'll probably never know.
Denchar1138 You're super, super welcome.
I just realised the only person who uploaded it did it as a "I took my camcorder and recorded the TV screen" upload, when I just KNEW it would be a lot nicer if it was archived like this. So you're totally welcome~ :D
Hm, when I was young I’m pretty sure I had the DVD of Snow White. I was very young so I really don’t know for sure.
@Denchar1138, one of the few reasons I've been holding back on replacing my 2001 VHS copy. It has the "Making of" (commentated slightly differently by Angela Lansbury), sing-along songs and a 2001 studio rendition of "Someday My Prince Will Come" performed by Barbara Streisand, set to certain scenes of the film. I know I probably won't get the same means on a DVD upgrade and that's a childhood memory for me.
When I was 5, this was one of my favorite part of the VHS! I loved it, I found it so interesting! I wanted to know EVERYTHING about the movie.
Aw man that classic Disney Home video logo with Sorcerers Apprentice Mickey really brings back memories
Ankford You're welcome on the nostalgia that this upload brought, then~ :D
I remember watching this as a little kid.
I use to watch this VHS at my Grandparents house in Cuffley back in the 90s when I was Little Hallingbury Primary School kid age in my childhood.
I remember watching this when I was young but never understood what it was all about but seeing it now, absolutely brilliant
Poor Ward. He spent months on that soup sequence.
That's the animation business for you.
Just as Ward Kimball was about to quit his job at the studio, hen Walt gave Ward Kimball the assignment of animating Jiminy Cricket, who carries most of the picture and is in most of scenes in the movie. Ward Kimball got to work with Cliff Edwards (then a massive film and music star). All good things come to those who wait!
Amazing. It’s very amazing to watch the behind the scenes of these beloved movies. I enjoy it so much and see how they’re made.
I'm crying from nostalgia, geez
"Over at our place, we're sure of just one thing: everybody in the world was once a child. So when planning a new picture, we don't think of grown-ups or children, but just of that kind, clean, unspoilt spot down deep in every one of us, that maybe the world has made us forget, and maybe our pictures can help recall."
❤❤Walt Disney❤❤
Where it all started 😍🤩!

i remember I had the vhs and this segment I've been searching for it for some time, thank you
I have been looking for this for years, I lost my VHS tape and I missed this making of so much. Thanks a lot! =D
You know, watching this "making of" video, it's amazing to see all the hard effort put into what we now know as a brilliant masterpiece from Walt Disney himself. It's a shame they don't make films like this anymore.
Anti-Röra Creations Animated movies both CGI and handdrawn take a lot of hard work and effort to get right even on a basic level, but CG and handdrawn are made both in different ways and require different amounts of effort and attention.
I do wish there were more handdrawn animated films out there that were released in cinemas, but I'd also personally would love it if animation itself wasn't limited to just "kids fodder" like a lot of animation is. Animation should be for everyone!
But I mumble, I just think animation's an artform that people really should embrace a bit better.
Before DVD`s extras were even a thing
Yes, indeed! Laserdiscs came with extras like this too but like VHS, they were attached to the discs/tapes rather than accessible through the menus like on DVD and Blu-ray. =P
Merry Christmas 2022.
I remember this movie and it's on Disney plus. Another thing I remembered is that this movie is on Walt Disney presents.
"Why, the whole place is clean."
"There's dirty work afoot."
Valt Disney är ett geni, finns ingen som har tecknat så Bra.
Never realised how funny the "music in your soup" scene really is. :D
5:38 Sneezy, Doc and Dopey's faces are so blissful. :)
I think everyone in the comments can agree its a lovely deleted scene, really! That's what I'm seeing here. :D
It did explain how Dopey got the soap out of his stomach (he previously ate it on accident during the washing scene)
It does! Yes, you're right!
Old but Gold.
My feelings exactly. :)
Well said, well said indeed :)
jpcancela Pure gold!!! I Cried watching at this :3
Oh man, hah. Assuming its tears of joy, I'm glad this upload resonated such strong emotions. :D
10:56 Disney Christmas VHS Trailer
9:01 if I didn't know better I think happy enjoyed that
For sure 😂
i don't think technology is bad in any way, it is a gift how easier the production for these kind of work got
However, movies nowadays, animations or blockbusters, they have all this money and technology to make a good movie yet it lacks soul; watching this, or idk even silent movies, a time where it was so much difficult to embody special effects like in Metropolis, even if the effects were rudimentar they capture our interest to the end
How much money and time and work was invested to make Snow White, delivered a masterpiece. In my mind it was made by people who loved the project, that's why it was treated with so much love
I mean, look at this animation, look how fluid and soothing it looks, we have computers yet animators can't achieve this on machines; that's why i will always prefer the old-fashioned way of animating
Snow White is a masterpiece
oh the memories, love this. Thank you so much ^-^
You're welcome! :D
i just can't imagine how hard these people had to work, it must've been hellish sometimes. i mean the ends justified the means, but those poor animators must've been pushed to their absolute limits with the amount of detail in movement required in these films
Some of them apparently booked hospital appointments in advance so they can recover from working on something this huge! Which sounds silly now, but this was back when making a project like this was still a huge rarity and still very new to most people so...yeah. o_o
@jhibbit1, and to think it took 24 separate drawings for one second of film. You can understand why it was time-consuming and sometimes took 4 years to make. The reason why they knew they had to make the money back and the fact they made so much profit was a bonus. So, I can kind of see why it was justified in future films to at least use the same movement cells for other films. For example, Snow's dance movements are used with Maid Marian in "Robin Hood."
Moreover, while so time-consuming, I still absolutely love the beauty behind 2D animation and wish they would go back and do more of it.
Holy Crap I jumped off my chair at the end of the video when I saw the Dark Red announcement of *LOOK OUT FOR FUTURE RELEASES FROM WALT DISNEY HOME VIDEO* really that was a very creepy text ending and I didn't saw that coming! :O
...you're welcome? :O
I know right. It's super creepy. Had a go at watching that in the dark as well!
Will Aron Yikes seriously I'm going to have nightmares with that ending! o.O
Aysha Wattellier I used to have the French version on Vhs with the first dub before the DVD release and the 2001 redubbed but goodness gracious that creepy uk ending was not included in the French dub since it finished after the end of The Muppets trailer, phew! But goddamit that ending was unexpected 😨
I remember this movie and it's on Disney plus. But this finale is on Limited gold edition.
Best FairytaleMovie ever! Besides Lion king
I cried at the end it is so happy!
End of "Snow White", I take it?
Great choice of icon, btw, simply due to the movie its from being *awesome*. :)
Lachlan W me too!!!!
Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was the equivalent to James Cameron's Titanic, when it was released in 1938. It was a massive blockbuster and became the highest grossing film of all time (until Gone With The Wind in 1939).
1937
It only premiered on 21st December, 1937. It went on its worldwide release in 1938.
@@filmsforallnations oh ok cool
It really did set the world alight in 1938 and was really successful on every reissue and outsold Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park, when the studio finally released it to VHS in 1994. Cecil b. DeMille thought that Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was the greatest film ever made and even stated that he wished that he could make films like Walt Disney.
@@filmsforallnations amazing
Don Ameche ( born Dominic Felix Amici; May 31, 1908 - December 6, 1993) was an American actor, comedian and vaudevillian. After playing in college shows, repertory theatre, and vaudeville, he became a major radio star in the early 1930s, which led to the offer of a movie contract from 20th Century Fox in 1935.
He did the voice act of Shadow the dog. from Homeward Bound. The Incredible Journey.
I remember the first time we watched this, even after all those previews and the "Look out for future releases" text, my mum still wasn't convinced it was the end of the tape until static appeared. I remember a similar thing the first time we watched Alice In Wonderland. From memory that one had no previews at all at the end.
Hah, nice. x3 I don't really blame your Mum for feeling that way, the closing reel to this is...pretty much a genuine monster in size! o.o
I agree with you there. Its definatley longer than on other Disney releases. I think the reason it seems longer though is because of the "Making Of Snow White" documentary being placed after the movie.
I seem to remember watching other tapes like "Fox and The Hound" and "Aristocats" where there were only one or two previews at the end and thinking "What.....is that the end already?"

Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs
Walt Disney. is my favorite animator
Me too 😊
AND that Jim Henson Video mega-promo is also on "The Muppet Christmas Carol". I know because I almost recorded that but decided not to until before this Christmas. :)
7:18 Snow White's been to the future! lol.
Thanks for the comment. It's funny how things always look different the first time.
Imagine how many hours of work that scene took in 1935 lol. That's awful it had to get cut
Enough that Ward Kimball, the supervising animator on that scene, was going to quit. But then Walt gave him the job of supervising animation on Jiminy Cricket in "Pinocchio" to make up for it. Thank God Ward stayed, otherwise we wouldn't have Jiminy, the mice and Lucifer, the Cheshire Cat, or the Mad Hatter and March Hare.
I actually stumbled upon this tape in the Netherlands(!) during queensmarket a few years ago. Because of the pretty pretty cover-artwork I bought it... Didn't regret :D
JayDee Good find!
For some reason the Jim Henson Video logo with it's creepy music gives me goosebumps.
Thanks for the tip! Also, thanks for being alright with me posting this too in this sort of quality. :D
The great mystery of the universe has been SOLVED! Congratulations! :D
I use to watch this all the time it had scenes never shown like the soup scene.
While this is the 1994 video release with the behind the scenes, I have 2001, with the commentary done by the wonderful Miss Price, Mrs Potts and balloon lady herself, Angela Lansbury. I even remember the way she starts it off (very similarly I will add).
"It doesn't take a magic mirror to know that the Walt Disney studio has brought us some of our most treasured film memories. That it was all started by a little princess. The one that started it all, and is still the fairest of them all."
My copy also has the Barbara Streisand rendition of "Someday My Prince Will Come." Next to Hello Dolly! it was probably my first intro to the wonderful BABS and loving her voice.
I never had the 2001 edition of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" (I chalk it down to how oddly they marketed it, given they zeroed in on the Evil Queen and that weirding me out) so that's actually pretty neat! Would've actually kinda dug that. Maybe that stuff's on my Blu-ray copy, hmm...
I remember seeing the Music in Your Soup part somehow before I ever saw the movie and I loved the part where Dopey swallowed his spoon. I was disappointed when I learned that scene was cut.
Was it played on TV somewhere, perhaps?
It was on some behind the scenes documentary.
...same as this?
4:36 - 4:38 Now I wish they kept that.
I remember this. It was on the Danish edition as well.
+NB Cool!
(Sorry for the 6-year old reply!)
It was on both the Norwegian and Swedish VHS-edition, too.
On the Swedish one, however, instead of trailers for Mickey's Christmas Carol, Disney's SingALong Songs, A Walt Disney Christmas, Winnie The Pooh & Christmas Too!, Bambi, Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey, and Muppet Sing Alongs after the short documentary, there was a trailer for the VHS-release of Aladdin (since Aladdin premiered in Swedish theaters a year later than America).
Merry Christmas Day 2023.
"I didn't know what I had or what would happen or anything, we had the family fortune, we had *everything* wrapped up in "Snow White". In fact, the banker I think was losing more sleep than I was!"
Funny how you wanted a written translation over what he said when he's speaking English pretty clearly anyway but, alright. =P
I like the way he says "Disney's Houme Videou" in British English!!
It’s just English! 🤦♀️

8:22 Hey!
the end a Walt Disney production
As someone a little bit older than Snow White, 1937 I can't help but think what a tragedy it was for Walt Disney 1900 - 1966 to die so young of tobacco addiction. Cigarette makers have been as sleazy as the illegal drug dealers with their miss information campaigns. You know. "Cigarettes aren't addicting, they're habituating." as if there was difference as for decades they were hooking 3,000 school kids a day on their filthy, but highly profitable product.
Homeward Bound, Wilderness Watchout Tower Ranger.
Food for thought there. Well, I can tell you that that I wasn't one of those 3,000 a day. Never smoked in my life. And it'll proberbly remain that way as I don't have any interest in it anyway and I know why they're so bad.
It would of been interesting to see how the world would of been like if Walt Disney lived for longer, that's for sure...still, thanks for the great comment! Makes a nice change of pace from the usual stuff I get for these uploads, that's for sure.
2:41 lol I could totally see this being Tim Burton's design for her
And like I said to the other guy who echoed the same thoughts, I was more scared of the fact that straight afterwards, the VHS just becomes this big, black seemingly never-ending abyss that ends eventually by going into white noise. That irked me, like as if...well...if I kept watching the white noise, suddenly something may appear but I'd be too worried to look.
VHS. It's a beautifully nostalgic format but also one that through its functions, can be so creepy too. xD But I digress~
Homeward Bound is da bomb. Don't make 'em like that any more. Now we stuck with shit like Black Panther.
I Have Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs On DVD
The Great Muppet Caper 1981, London Policeman.
Derek Chafer as The Arresting London Policeman in The Great Muppet Caper 1981.
Thanks for the tip!
The documentary is narrated by Brian Cummings.
10:22 Snow White Kissing Dopey
I feel that Mark Elliot (the narrator of this behind the scenes featurette) ought to have been a documentary narrator for *Star Wars*, *Harry Potter*, *Power Rangers*, *The Chronicles of Narnia*, *Percy Jackson*, and *The Lord of the Rings*.
The more I watch this, the more tempted I am to share my memories of how things looked different at a young age.
12:22 and 12:49 When Mickey and Pluto look out the window, it always seemed like Mickey’s face had Quagmire’s huge chin and Dr Neo Cortex's moustache. It really did seem that way since it blacked out the first instance. Even today, the thought of it lingers in my head. :-S
But the question is, wouldn't or shouldn't be Dopey sick, after he ate the soap... and than the spoon too?😅
But I remember the other movies and both Jim Henson movies are on Disney plus.
I wonder if Miss Caselotti watched this.
Miss Piggy Stole a Neacklese!
Don't worry miss piggy we'll get you out of this!

Oh dear lord. Homeward Bound. As A VHS collector I have been searching for the ex-rental version for 3 years.

You earn a thumbs-up from me, that last sentence there was wonderful. ;D And I can DEFINITELY see what you mean there!
The dwarf models creep me out
😊😊😊😊😊
💗💗💗💗💗
I used to be afraid of that 'Look out for future releases' thing too. There's no Mickey or creepy 'hmmmmm' sound at the start. It just appears out of nowhere.
In my opinion, Billy Bunny almost looks like Br’er Rabbit from Song of the South.
I'm sure the design similarities were a total coincedence, though I never thought of it before now so...interesting! x)
I remembered some of the other movies that are also on Disney plus.
When I was a kid, it wasn't that which freaked me out and creeped the fudge out of me, it was the realisation that straight after that message...well...the VHS ends so all that's left is a big, black silent abyss before going to white noise after what at the time felt like an aching eternity. ;) But there we go, different strokes for different folks.
Soup scene!! Starts at 5:16 :)
You're welcome. :D
Am I the only wally that used to be so scared of the whole Disney Christmas promo section? I still get anxious knowing it comes after the making of at 28 years old and it's literally just a promo for a bunch of Christmas cartoons! 😂
Disney's Short Films Mickey Mouse Chip N Dale Pluto's Christmas Tree With Goofy Donald Duck And Minnie Mouse
Yeah, indeed! xD Squiting while looking at the part of this you're referring to actually makes it resemble one of these, actually. :O So yeah, I see what you mean there. ;) --> /watch?v=cNZPRsrwumQ
