      I tried to close it out with all of the sentry missiles and shields, but to no avail. When I didn't finish the game in round eight, I'm not going to lie, I was worried. 😅

    Nice game. Scorpion with double-shot and acid does a number on sandworms. Acid is the most important part of that combo though. Good job identifying your problem and putting down the counter to them.

      Scorpions are my favorite unit in the game. I use 'em when I need 'em and sadly even when I do not lol. :D

    Finally getting the game today, were there any crucial mistakes you made when you first started out?

    • @4FunCycle
      @4FunCycle 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not getting enough chaff. That is the biggest mistake low MMR players make.
      Search "Rats rules for Mechabellum" They will give you rules to live by until you learn when to break them.

      The biggest things were not building enough chaff and not prioritizing chaff clear. I still have to work on building out my board. 😁

    Taking the nuke when he has only 195 health left would have almost certainly immediteadly have won you the game. You even sold your flank so two worms plus his wasps would have been hit by that nuke.
    I you are this close to winning the game the nuke is fantastic

    • @WhoopedGG
      @WhoopedGG  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Normally I'd look for an excuse to take the nuke but I was worried he was too close and I wasn't able to accurately judge the 15 seconds given his proximity. You're right though--if I landed it, GGs :)

    I might not have gone for the Fire Badgers in the unit pick, because the Arclights were already serving that role pretty well against Crawlers and Mustangs, and two units in the same role is a bit of a waste IMO. The Typhoon would also complement that chaff clear role and give you AA, which your comp was missing at that point. I think Fire Badger would have been a better pick for your opponent, because Mustangs don't excel as a counter against Crawlers. I might be wrong here, I dunno.

    • @WhoopedGG
      @WhoopedGG  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Typhoon would have been a great pick. To me, I didn't want to make it my carry unit and I wasn't going to take advantage of its tech--so I just wouldn't have utilized it much. The Firebadgers do serve a similar role as the Arclights, but they were also front-lining and allowed me to put a lot of pressure on his flanks. I wanted the overkill in terms of chaff clear, if you will. I can absolutely see the Typhoon being an excellent pickup though.

    Round 3 supply specialist might have been good, but I guess firepower or laser sights are quite good
    The missiles this game cost you hundreds, imagine if you put those hundreds to upgrades instead
    Mustang against worm is pretty meh. Melting point probably would have been better right as you saw the first worm.

    • @WhoopedGG
      @WhoopedGG  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Some of the missiles gave me great value I believe--specifically the ones that hit both his Crawlers and Mustangs. I did have a lot of waste though. My thought was to close it out and do whatever it takes to do so. I took a shot and missed, basically. And you're right, Melting Point would have been way better.

    If you really want to gain mmr mabye try putting yourself out of your comfort zone with different builds, i.e skip the scorps for a bit, try steel balls and typhoon which you seem to not like so much.
    Idk great content either way

      @@WhoopedGGthey’re basically fast ground only teir 2 melters. Facing marksmen/sabertooth, can add shields; facing crawlers, can add replicate. Hard countered by scorpions and phoenix, though.

    My takes (1500 - 1600). Anyone who disagrees feel encouraged to let me know:
    So I think you blundered this game hard, which almost made you loose. It should have been a win by turn 5 or 6.
    You were doing really well turn 1 though 4. Nothing I feel qualified to criticize there. But omg turn 5. Let me explain:
    The situation is, you were absolutely trashing him in the chaff war and you see he's transitioning into sandstorm worms and wasps. You go sledge emp which is useless, since the sandstorm procs before they can hit the worm. Then you tech into you single pack of mustangs. Mustangs are not intended for or good at killing high HP units like worms. Instead, standstorm counters stangs, because it forces a retarget, prevents them from killing wasps and makes them run into danger range. Then you buy temp range which is bad since it doesn't really do anything to massivly swing the round in your favor and you are ahead anyway. Also you don't buy any units. As a general rule you want use both of you free deployments in almost every round (80-90%), especially if it isn't a unit drop round or you are forcing out an important expensive unit.
    What you should have done instead in my opinion is buy three packs of balls. In hindsight I also spotted you could loan and go replicate on top of that as well (probably wouldn't have seen that in the game). Balls counter worms if you are winning the chaff war and are better than melters in this scenario, since you would be pushing as soon as the frontline worm dies and they are cheaper. Once the worms are gone your lvl2, itemized mustangs are more than enough to kill his wasp. They also aren't realistically in danger of dying, since you already have a shield from last round which would protect against Ion or Vulcan's Decent. You would probably win the round even harder and win that turn. If not you, could add on more stangs and balls the next round and win then.
    Over the last couple of vids I feel like you are a little too attached to stangs. While they are a good general purpose dps unit, they mainly counter fangs, wasp and phoenixes. If none of those are present there might be better options, so you shouldn't autopilot to going/teching into them. Although in this game the pickup was perfectly reasonable due to the item drop and wasp being on board. However, teching into them and going up to 4 packs, while your opp was already starting to build counters almost lost you the game.
    Still a good game though as you put yourself in a hard winning position early on.
