Ever Been to Pioneer Village in Minden, NE.??? You Need 2 Days to see it all. Started by the Man who Invented Plastic Wrap. He Lived to be 93 years old. Horacio Alger Award Winner at 88. He Literally Collected Everything from 1850-1950. He has the Tiny Train Depot from the Town where his Mother arrived from 🇳🇴 Norway. The Assayers Office that held the official papers for their homestead. Unbelievable Things. Thnx, I Think I’ll Watch This Again. CJ

I’m the same age as you, and I grew up going to my great-Aunt’s house in Kentucky. When I was younger she only had an outhouse (and no indoor tub/shower either). But about 15 years ago she finally put an indoor bathroom in her back bedroom....and she still prefers the outhouse!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this one!! We have a very similar Pioneer Museum out here in AZ that we visited last summer so this is right up our alley. Always love to see ones and are originals as well. We're a complete sucker for old pioneer things.
Firstly, I can not imagine 11 children and 2 parents in that teeny, tiny house consisting of 1 room and what looked like a closet with a bed in it! Plus the unbearable Florida heat - how did anyone live here before a/c? Secondly Adam, I love how you can always work a Back to the Future reference in! lol Love you Adam!
This place reminds me so much of Batsto village in Southern New Jersey. I love about 20 minutes from there and love walking around. If you ever find yourself in South Jersey it’s as wonderful place to visit.
I love all these places from the American pioneer days. The church reminded me of my grandparents old church. The school did remind me of the one in Little House On The Prairie. I probably love old things like this because I grew up around antiques in my grandparents old house from the civil war years. My grandparents from both sides were old. The front of that old truck looked like it had a smiley face on it smiling at you. Thank you for sharing this with us. God bless you
P. S. I love those fans. Some of the older churches used to have them. There’s an old country store in North Carolina where I got one. Don’t know if they still have them. My late grandmother in law had saved some of those kind of fans over the years before her passing.
When I visited Orlando this January, my nephew and I took a day off from visiting Disney/Universal and visited Pioneer Village in the morning. So glad I did. It's only $8 but you learn so much about the history of this area. I encourage anyone and everyone to visit living history parks like this. It's so rewarding and one never knows how much longer they'll be around.

That place is fantastic. I wish I could visit. Always been fascinated by pioneer history. I have ancestors who left the UK for the US in the 1880’s and took part in the Cherokee Strip Land Rush in 1893 settling in Oklahoma. That’s about all I know since I am in the UK but the idea of doing that has enthralled me since I was a child. One day I hope I will trace my ancestors footsteps but until thank you for visiting this Florida version of events, was brilliant. 👍
This was nice to see. I can remember Granny & Grandpauls' outhouse & using it in the middle of the night. My Mother would take all 4 of us at the same time. It was so beautiful seeing the stars sparkle like diamonds in the night. There were no street lights back then. That's been a very long time ago.
I am so going to add this to our places to visit next time we holiday in Florida, it will be a nice thing to do instead of the theme parks. My Nan still had a tin bath & outside toilet in the 80’s I can remember it vividly as it was so cold in the winter.
This was cool to see. If you've never been to Bodie, CA, that's a must see for a look into a great abandoned mining town. All building are original and kept up to a certain point. It has the feel of Knott's Ghost Town.

I live in West Palm Beach and I was over there about three years ago and a few of those buildings have some ghosts that came along with them...but they don't like talking about it too much 👻👻👻 I was told an old lady died in the house in the back, I could have sworn I saw the rocking chair rocking by itself when I was there 😳😳😳 Great video Adam👍👍👍 You should have superimposed a see-through "ghost train" coming down the tracks, that would have been super cool! 🤣🤣🤣 That antique cupboard with the screen is actually a place where they put their pies to cool....the screen would keep the flies and bugs off of them

I was born in the 70's and we had an outside loo (live in Wales UK) and my Dad used to make us go outside to use the toilet if we were going to do a number two rather than the inside toilet! Cold at times lol
I love these kinds of places. Back then the work was hard but fulfilling. Probably slept better then also with a pure conscience and a good tired. My husband's pappy never would use the newfangled indoor plumbing, he died age 99. Many wasn't convinced to use it until age 91! She lived to 98. I love indoor plumbing, as long as it's not next to the kitchen lol. Whose great idea was that to put them there? Lol. Safe travels home.
MANY years ago when my kids were little, my husband had a job where he had a business tip to the Orlando area for two consecutive years. My kids and I had to pay our own way down to FLorida but we could stay in my husband's hotel room without having that cost. Having little money. I would find inexpensive places to take them. Wish this had been here way back then. We would surely have come here. I would have been silly like you Adam and they would have been rolling their eyes! Both years we did the FREE tour of the Tupperware HQ and received free small Tupperware items as a gift for doing the tour. Done that, Adam, or do they not do that anymore. There is this really cool fountain outside the entrance.
the stilt house is also known as a chikee (or chickee) hut or platform dwelling. Since the Seminoles adapted to chikees around the time of the 2nd and 3rd Seminole Indian wars, i see why the mueseum included a couple of chikees in the village. Chikees are still found in Miccosukee villages in the Everglades as well as back country areas of the Everglades National Park.

I'm thinking of getting one...Being a Florida boy I need a straw hat year-round for the beach and I have to admit, that hat is styling! I noticed "TIKI Jay"was sporting one on Instagram too.
In Rochester Ny in normal times Monday closures for museums and art gallery locations was common. Our Memorial Art Gallery had even gone to only being open weds through Sunday. Currently none of these establishments is open as far as I know.

I've been to Pioneer Village a few times and I never realized that it was like a museum that you could tour. I just went to walk the trails.

I went there a few weeks ago. The place is very beautiful and also very quiet and relaxing. Well worth the entrance fee.

Such a great place to explore. The wood work in the school room is so lovely.
In the summer we slept in screened in porches just like that in Phoenix when I was a kid.

The fountain is great . My mom sold Tupperware for years
That wrapping paper wasn't for meat items. It's for wrapping parcels of clothing etc.
Outhouses were the hardest to deal with in the Winter according to my dad. Particularly in a snowstorm.
