      With "Auto" on the bottom right turned on I use left click + drag to select the entire car.

    Thank you for this video! I’ve not been able to find a good tutorial as most just skip to where you already have the files, thank you for showing us how to find the files! Most say find them online but some modded cars on my fivem server don’t have templates sadly

    I don't know what I'm doing wrong but every vehicle I try to render the parts in the UV Mapper overlap each other. How can I fix this?

    I'm specifically trying to generate a vehicle template but it always comes broken, I noticed that in the textures it doesn't have the namecar_sing_1, namecar_sign_2.
    What can I do in situations like this?

    when i do this and everything correctly it does not show up i have tried it on 3 different cars and even the sultanrs and im still not getting anything

      Car might not be livery mapped.

    how do i add this to the ytd? name it xxx_sign_1.png? if i do this the oem gtav car does not show it in openiv, do i need to edit somting els to enable livery this car?
    Iam talking about the elegy (classic rh5)

    Do you know how I would retain the transparency of a texture? For context, I am trying to put a sticker on a add-on rim, I've created a thin-duplicate layer of the specific spoke I'm placing the sticker on and replaced it with my sticker texture. However, It always makes the background of the white or black, despite the actual sticker image being clear/no background and only of the logo/sticker. Reason I'm also doing this is because I don't want the rim paint:4 to affect the sticker. Maybe my approach to achieve this is wrong. Thanks heaps for this video aswell :)
    EDIT: I used some random material as a test, In Zmod it shows as I want (no background). But Ingame it's totally invisible....

      Alpha enabled shaders don't work on wheels. You have to use the vehicle_tire shader on rims, it's the only one that works. If you want to add a logo or badge to a rim you have to model it or create a texture with any background other than transparent.

    When i click import after following the first step, nothing happens and the button greys out. Unsure of what i did wrong already.

      Model is locked don't try to import other people's mods without their permission. They're locked because they don't want you to edit it.

      Turn off "Continuous Mesh Surface" in the UV Editor window before pressing OK :)

      @@Dion-Dabbington If an add-on vehicle has a working template map, you can use this tutorial to render that as well, however if the vehicle you download doesn't have any obvious signs of livery support, then it's not mapped.

    Hey stew, I'm trying to do a UV map on a vehicle that already has a livery, and the template layout is different than the one u put on here. It has the two sides on bottom, the roof, bonnet, and boot in the middle, and bumpers in the top. How do I get that layout?

      Some cars aren't livery mapped (but are dirt mapped on uv2) which sounds like what you saw. You can generally tell if a car is livery mapped based on the shader used for the paint material. vehicle_paint1 = not livery mapped, vehicle_paint3 / vehicle_paint4 = livery mapped

      @@13Stewartc Hey Stew, so quick update, but it was already livery mapped, I assume, because it's a police vehicle. It didn't have a PAINT:2, but it had a PAINT:4. The only thing, is after I rendered and saved it, there was something at the bottom that said it couldn't create mip-maps, and I'd need to download an external thing for it to generate mip-maps

    I'm modding a new car texture for the Growler, I have manage to do all the carcols settings in fivem, car mapping, texture png an everything... yet I can not export my texture file as YFT therefore can't review my file, how can I export YFT?

    I do everything you did in the video and first i didnt get any mesh on the uv map. When i finally had the uv map, when i clicked render it rendered nothing. Can you help me?

      It's possible your vehicle doesn't have a livery template. But other than that and you missing a step in the tutorial (or doing something else incorrectly) I can't think of what else would cause the issue you're describing

      I don't think the baller2 is livery mapped mate. If it's a base game car (one that released with the original game, not any dlc) it'll not be livery mapped.

      You need ZModeler ideally for the moment. In the future though there'll be an alternative called sollumz that I plan to make tutorials for.

    So i made it and i want to use it in game but it doesnt work, it says: This car has no liveries ;( i dont know what to do. i already put the sign files in the ytd etc

      The car might use modkit style liveries. (You can usually tell if it does as blank.dds will be present in the ytd and the detail2 slot of the paint material)
      Check out my livery mapping tutorial, near the end it explains how to put modkit liveries into the game which will assist you in adding liveries to your car.

      Make sure you select the correct UV channel (top right of the edit UV window) it's usually UV Channel 2. But only if your vehicle is livery mapped. If it's not it'll look quite messy.

      Check out my livery mapping tutorial, it explains the entire process including getting your liveries to work in game. (The method I teach is the modern way of doing liveries via modkit parts) ytd liveries are un-optimised as they're loaded all the time.

    Hey man, do you know how to make light doors? If you open the door your logo in the ground?

      There's no proper way to do this (that works properly all the time) but I believe people attach a plane to the door that uses the lightsemissive shader with a texture UV mapped to it used as the logo. Said plane is high enough that it's hidden under above the bottom of the chassis or in the chassis when closed but high enough that it doesn't clip through the ground. (Ofc on some elevation it will clip through the ground but that's unavoidable)

      Whilst in the import window hold ctrl and left click the models. To select all the models in the user window, make sure auto is active then drag select over the entire thing. (Make sure L0 is active)

    Once I’ve done that, I import that into photoshop put a logo on the door export and put the texture in the sultanrs.ytd will my car have this logo when I make it spawn on my server ?

      If you replace blank.dds with your livery it will appear permanently on the car (sultanrs or any other car with blank.dds) but this isn't how you're meant to do it. Check my Livery Mapping Tutorial on YT to see how to properly setup liveries

    What do you name the livery files to make them appear?

      I usually go by the naming scheme:
      carname_livery_number for my addon cars.
      The name doesn't define if it appears in game though unless you're replacing an existing vehicles livery.
      To make a custom livery show on an add-on car (not a car that exists in GTA 5 already) you need to define it's name in carcols.meta. Under a valid modkit id. You can find many examples of this on cars from GTA5-Mods :)

    I noticed when you imported you had a few other files such as vehshare.ytd, vehshare_army, etc. Are those files needed also? If so where do I get them?

      They're additional shared texture dictionaries that I keep loaded on the offchance any vanilla vehicle I am importing uses them. You can find them in OpenIV by doing CTRL + F3 and then searching for "vehshare" then extract them to a shared textures folder and add them to zmod in the import section.

      Not all vehicles are livery mapped even if they use the vehicle_paint4 shader (livery enabled paint material) it's also possible that you didn't pick UV Channel 2 to keep original mapping on. (This is the layer that has the template UV) if you did and it's not showing your template then it's probs not livery mapped.

      @@13Stewartc I get what you mean but one of the vehicles i was trying sis somewhat had a template but still had some random polygon stretching through and also whe template was like squished.
      And when i tried to check if the vehicle has the problem then i tried take out template of sultan as you did i got the temple out of the little box that it was supposed to and was not at all looking like a template and was squished like the other vehicles.
      Does the version of application have any role in this?

      @@gamerx_1202 what you probably saw there was the dirtmap. If the paint material has the vehicle_paint1 shader assigned, the car doesn't have nor support livery mapping.

    is it possible to move the pieces once your already in the uv mapping thing and it will adapt to the moved one ?

      Yeah if you re export the car it will. But you'll need to adjust any existing liveries to match your new template. (Also some cars have aftermarket parts with livery mapping as well so you should keep this in mind)

      @@13Stewartc Little late but if I understand them correctly, they want a 3d software that allows them to place the Template over a 3d model of the vehicle & that allows them to draw on the template on another window so they can see their design in real time on the 3d model as they create their livery.

      Did you click materials (bottom left of UV mapper window) then select the material ?
      If you did and it's still not showing its possible that your vehicle isn't livery mapped. It's also possible that even though you selected by material in polygon mode the bottom right 'selected' text is not red which means it's not selected. (If it's blue it's not selected, if it's red it is)
