Managed to find a brand new 2012 MD-515 with a gloss finish -- it had been on the shelf for 10 years! Sounds great right out of the box. Very resonant. Finish had plenty of time to harden.
I have one of these. It is fantastic. Beyond great. Sounds beautiful, rings beautifully acoustically, I have a fish man bluegrass pickup in it, sounds amazing. It looks amazing aswell. I’ve actually played it so much the finish is starting to come off around the holes😂 but I don’t expect that to happen to anyone who plays casually, I play 4-5 hours a day and use it on stage. I’m not lying when I say it’s the best, if not the second best mandolin I’ve played. I’m putting it right up there next to a Gibson. If you’re looking for a quality mandolin at a solid price point, get this. It will not disappoint. I’m in love with it.
Hey I love the banter but in the constructive criticism comment section here maybe instead of 90% talking and 10% playing reverse that. Keep up the good work

I have a 515 for a few years Couple of years ago I got a Weber Bitterroot, which I really like, but I find myself gravitating back to the Eastman Here's the thing- would it be a good idea to upgrade to an Eastman 915 rather than something like a Northfield? I mean, the Northfield is more expensive and I like the neck of the Eastman Incidentally- have you ever featured a 915..?
