The only reason why Haney did well with other fighter's. Was the fact that, he was much bigger than his opponents. Which allowed Haney to be able to take the shot, and he still was struggling a bit with smaller fighter's. Haney problem in going forward at higher weights, is that he can't take a punch, and he can't punch.
You have to at the least, have one of the two, to get yourself out of hot water.

As a bodybuilder... Cutting weight takes a toll on your body... Most athletes who cut weight cut carbs... For all the experts in the comments go with out carbs for 3 weeks straight let me know how you feel
I don’t think it’s the carbs that take a toll on fighters as much as it is the water cut that affects them in the fight. A lot of these guys are losing 15+ pounds of water in a couple of days to make weight.

Prime example of pride coming before a fall. From still accepting the fight after the missed weight to going in there trying to prove a point instead of boxing. Went in there and sacrificed his IQ and primary tools that got him here to try and go into the midrange and pocket to hunt a big shot to make a statement and it backfired he gotta take it on the chin and regroup.

But he was just standing in front of Ryan too much. Dev usually fights timid, stay behind his jab, tie up when someone gets too close, and occasionally runs. But against Ryan he chose to go toe to toe......big mistake. But after the 7th round the fight was definitely over. It should've been stopped in the 8th

His punch resistance is low and he doesn’t recover well after being stunned look at the Linares fight got hit at the end of the 10th and held on for dear life in the 11th and 12th. On Saturday night he got hit with a hook in the 1st rd and never recovered. He needs to move up in weight he is draining himself to make 140. He needs to move up to 147 immediately
I don't think moving to 147 will make much of a difference. Unfortunately, Devin just doesn't have great punch resistance or power. The fact his legs turn to jelly for a long period of time is a terrible sign.

Dev shouldn’t try to make 140 again. Those last 3 pounds make all the difference. It takes every drop of fluid from you including most importantly the fluid around your brain. Without that fluid your brain crashes against the skull so even a jab might ko you. All of them walk around 175 or bigger, they need to weigh in the day of the fight and stop the shenanigans for fighters health.

If you think that the only rounds Ryan won were the rounds he knocked Haney down in, you don’t know boxing. Garcia win the first round. He won the 6th, the round before the first knock down. He lost the 8th. The round after the first knockdown. When he was still stunned from the knockdown. And the 12th could have gone either way. That’s 4 rounds without knockdowns in them that Ryan won. Plus the 3 rounds with knockdowns. 7 rounds in total. Even if you don’t score a single knockdown, Ryan won the fight

I know a thing or two. 1 of the official scorecards had Devin winning the 6th. and 2 of the official scorecards had Devin winning round 8 so obviously they were not dominant rounds for either. Ryan was on the backfoot a lot. just watched again and gave Ryan the 6th. Higher punch output and landed more. Round 8 Devin threw more but landed one punch less. I'll give Ryan 6 and Devin 8.

If we take away the Knockdowns let’s be real Ryan never really followed up closing the round. It’s like the mf would the knockdown Haney down but not finish the round strong. He started to look even sloppier each time.
But to add Haney also wasn’t fighting his typical fight. He was being the aggressor and we don’t see that from him. He was trying to fight more into style that favor Ryan (which Ryan got more power and he has speed) which ultimately Haney ended getting caught by those big punches

Ryan won the first round and "arguably" the 12th besides the knockdown rounds. Devin controlled the pace and had Ryan on the back foot the other rounds. Those knockdown rounds were pretty brutal though.

Cutting weight is terrible. I wrestled and to cut weight all week then stwp on scale tge day of a match and be over sucks. Even dropping .5 pounds sucks bc you have no more water weight to shed. And you only have an hour or two bwfore meets to rehydrate. And I get being drained but elite athletes finds that n xt gear and focus to make adjustments as well as coaches making adjustments. Dev didnt have that. He didnt nor dis his corner. But i yhink he can bounce back with the right team behind him.
