Actually, it depends more on what strata of society one is in as to how much one uses tea cups over coffee mugs. Practical people use coffee mugs. Plain and simple. Impractical people (I.e. most rich, over-pampered people) like to use tea cups to seem more elegant than others. Expensive cups made of bone china so thin you can see through them. Definitely not practical. Trust me, guys like Trump know their way around tea cups in social situations.
