Nope, I disagree, As much as I love the guy, it's fair to say Kenny is messy with the rhythm and the tone, he goes too fast and his bands try to compensate...But he does not keep the tempo right on Are you afraid. It's cool to have energy and stage presence, I give you that, but not at the expense of the musicality.
Have you heard TON's version of Paranoid/Black Sabbath? I promise you gooselumps pluss pluss :-) Don't remember what record they do Paranoid, but he sings like a god
Pete’s voice shines throughout here. The low B or C at the start, the melody, then his deep banshee screams in Gravity, rolling his Rs..all while beatin the shit out of a bass. Legendary
He reaches a A1 in this live version, and being a bass baritone, just like Peter, I can confirm that its not a register that we can achieve all the time with this awesome quality.
Saw these guys on tour with Cradle of Filth in the early 2000's in OKC. Pete was drinking red wine on stage while performing, playing bass one-handed. Everyone was wearing prison jumpsuits and bandannas. Kenny had a cage around his keyboard rig that he kept pulling and ripping at while screaming and generally throwing a tantrum. In hearing/reading about the period after the fact, I realize how little of it was an act, how rough things were with Pete at this point. The thing is, though, they fucking KILLED. I'm not letting my fanboy opinion in here: they didn't miss a note, and while Pete might have been drunk, high, and bored, he sure as shit didn't sound like it. He ripped the tunes with feeling. Made the up-tempo theatrics of Cradle seem like a high school play. I consider myself extremely lucky to have had a chance to see them.
I was at that show too, man! 2004 I believe it was, at the Coca Cola center. Great fucking show and I too count myself lucky to have seen these guys. Did they do two sets that night? I remember seeing them play and then leaving and the security guard asking "dont you guys wanna see Type O negative play?". Anyway, perfect fucking band.
I saw them around same time(2001-2002) at a club in Iowa call the Pig Pen; It was fucking awesome. I was surprised at the smaller size of the venue because I saw them at a much larger venue in Indianapolis. But the club in Iowa is a fan's dream. They were accessible after the show. My friends and I got our cd cases autographed. The band was so kind and down to earth. They sat at the bar and drank with us(after the bar closed). I was blown away... I didn't have any trouble talking to Josh, Johnny and Kenny, but I couldn't seem to squeak out a word to Peter whom I was dying to talk to. If only I could have a do over with part of that night.
On a further note, i managed to get to the second row at the concert in Ludwigsburg that time. First row was impossible, because the most beautiful girls of germany where banging there. RIP Pete
I got a problem, A problem with hate. I can't go on raving this way. A cold steel hand that won't let go. Acid filled thoughts, out of control. I built myself a nice little cage, with bars of anger and a lock of rage. I can't help askin', "Who's got the key?" when I know damn well, IT'S ME!
I'm just a fireball. At Christmas! I'm just a fireball. I'm just a fireball. At Christmas! I'm just a fireball. At Christmas! - Spoken like a true poet. Lyrical genius he was.
I wish I could've meet Peter at least once in my life...so sad I discovered ToN 5 years ago and he helped me through hard times... RIP gentle giant, you are dead but not forgotten.
I remember the first time I saw em live was at The Odeon in Cleveland with Static X and Dope in '98...Man there was so much bass when they played that the rafters were literally visibly oscillating and my nads had that peculiar feeling one gets on a roller coaster. I expected a vampire to come out, and I was suprised that Pete sounded more like Sly Stone than Dracula, it was just epic. That show also got me into Static X. Only comparable show I saw was Pantera/anthrax. Man those were the days.
My favorite band of all time and one of my favorite two tunes of all time. Not a day goes by that I don't think about Peter. RIP Green Man . .you are gone but never, ever forgotten.
RIP my man, you made me laugh so much in my misery, there were times when I could only listen to Type - O because only they understood...I will really miss you guys, you were the soundtrack to my survival.
This is one of the best Type o live performances on tape, and also a great live song for them. It really uses the best live-dynamics in Peters voice. More of these please!
well, he doesn't wanna be there. He's just there for you, it's great you are thankful, the green man coping with stage fright is a present for all of us.
hell yeah still shivers my skin . miss type o negative so much. never got to see them due to an evil controlling partner this band helped me survive that.x
found them on MTv when I was a kid. I will forever be sad I never got to see them live. Alll of my friends have seen their favorite band live, and it saddens me that I never will. R.I.P Peter.
Who here was at this concert!!?? Never got to see them live. But met Pete breifly... Always wanted to see them live. 🖤💚💔 Never will get too. You guys are so lucky!!
Saw them after October Rust came out. Got to meet Peter before the show. Got to meet Josh during the Manhole set. Type O is a once in a lifetime band. Miss you terribly Green Man.
Now this is a Type O video. Just them kicking ass! They were an experience to see live and I consider myself quite lucky. He threw a pumpkin in the crowd.
I managed to see every tour from Bloody Kisses to Dead Again. They played Florida pretty heavily. Saw them in night clubs in Fort Myers (with Life Of Agony and God Lives Under Water), Ozzfest, St. Petersburg, Orlando, but the best shows were ALWAYS at Masquerade in downtown Tampa (Ybor).
@SuicideSelfExpress Actually, he's doing a tour of the universe with Ronnie James Dio. They'll be back to save us metal heads when the apocalypse happens.
+Jaw the Loyal ME TOOO :) In Long Beach CA. 1996 Twas my first Type O experience. Saw them 2xs later with Celtic Frost in Hollywierd (both times pregnant) ...my son drumming along to the double bass in womb (from the balcony) and is now a drummer - go figure :) He loves Type O too @ 8 yrs old. Still and forever will be my all time Favorite band. RIP Peter
Me too. State college. I don’t even think 500 were there. It was so cool. My first beverage I ever had was red wine with Peter Steele and I got to see drain and Peter said they always have their stuff out.
One year later and there still is nothing for us to replace what we lost in Pete's death. I miss him, I miss the anticipation of the next Type O masterpiece, I miss the autumn shows on the East Coast.......thanks for everything Pete. RIP
Greatest band ever. Just saw them this week in Buffalo. They played a bunch of stuff from Origin & SDH as well as getting a bunch of Rust in there, fucking awsome set. It started snowing onstage for Too Late : Frozen. I'm still not over it.
why do people click on the 'thumb down' ? i dont understand it. if u dont like Type O negative, why are you watching this in the first place? and if you DO like them .... why give a thumb down? it has to be trolls
now im not afraid, someone paranoid like me is already over there thank pete for help us in cruel times whith your sarcasm and that kind of musik we loved since that time we heard u the first time, rest in peace
I wish they made a better recording of this transition between are you afraid and gravity... its SO GOOD and this is the best version ive heard... would have been great if they rly produced it and not just had live versions
Make no mistake. This performance is the greatest version of these songs.
I couldn't agree more!
Yes!
Gravity and Gravitational Constance seriously have got nothing on this one
Nope, I disagree, As much as I love the guy, it's fair to say Kenny is messy with the rhythm and the tone, he goes too fast and his bands try to compensate...But he does not keep the tempo right on Are you afraid. It's cool to have energy and stage presence, I give you that, but not at the expense of the musicality.
Only a giant could ever have a voice so epic. Rest in peace, Pete. We love you man.
da green man lives!
Mr Steele, I love your voice
Have you heard TON's version of Paranoid/Black Sabbath? I promise you gooselumps pluss pluss :-) Don't remember what record they do Paranoid, but he sings like a god
Persperation is strenght. Peter Steele knew his poetry when it came to songs.
He knows
The beginning is just.... flawless
Sends chills up my spine
Me,too...
And the rest!
It really is flawless! God do I miss Pete and The rest of Type O Negative!
chills

Regarding keyboards, that would've been Josh, not Kenny. Kenny was lead guitar and 2nd vocalist.

I saw them a couple of times (in 1999 and 2007). I really do miss everything they had to offer, both as a band and individually.
On a further note, i managed to get to the second row at the concert in Ludwigsburg that time. First row was impossible, because the most beautiful girls of germany where banging there. RIP Pete
I fucking miss my high school years man. Type O and Danzig. Didnt and still doesnt get any better than that
Word.
What a kick ass band! Fan since the 90s. My love for the band CONTINUES TO GROW here in 2022. Rip Peter. Gone but never forgotten

Its 3 songs in 1 but yes, it certainly is fan-fuckin'-tastic :)
I remember the first time I saw em live was at The Odeon in Cleveland with Static X and Dope in '98...Man there was so much bass when they played that the rafters were literally visibly oscillating and my nads had that peculiar feeling one gets on a roller coaster. One of my favorite band when I was in High School (94-98),I am so sorry I've never seen them live ...and never will.
Crixy M I saw them once. Pete was drunk and the show was about 7 songs long.
He forgets half the words due to drunkenness, and it's still a fucking awesome performance.
well, he doesn't wanna be there. He's just there for you, it's great you are thankful, the green man coping with stage fright is a present for all of us.
Was it good for????🙏🤑
It doesn't get better than this...damn it...still can't believe Pete's gone
hell yeah still shivers my skin . miss type o negative so much. never got to see them due to an evil controlling partner this band helped me survive that.x

The best human voice I've ever heard in my life.... Love u from India
I had the Hammer Gear emblem painted on my truck in Iraq. Those that knew said it was bad ass. Those that didn't just thought it was a Motor-T thing.
