Great fix and documentation! need to do this on mine :D
Cool! Glad to hear folks are finding it useful. 💫
Excellent fix and things to check. Thank you for the clear easy to follow presentation. My GSO focuser has a couple sticking/rough points and going to bet loosening the bearing nut will solve it.
Sounds very likely. 👍💫
Wow!! Great review and instructions. The detail you went into is on another level. I’m considering getting this telescope for a review as well so I’m glad I saw your video just in case. Highpoint scientific is a good outfit to deal with.
Best regards
Luis from NY
Thanks, much appreciated!💫
Nice! I did the exact same thing you did but 3-D printed it.
Didn't think of that one. Great idea and the way to go if a guy has got a 3-D printer. 👍💫
Ran into same problem with the old plastic housing GSO focuser. Trying to back off the tension nut sheared the brass treaded body, total garbage. Sadly good focusers cost as much as some telescopes. Your teardowm tells me the GSO focusers are still the same internal design, nope, not worth the aggravation. Axial is too thin also, not enough friction surface - rack and pinion all the way for astrophotography.
Axel, not axial.
For my needs, they work. But as you said, a R&P would be better but would cost more; that or a better friction bearing in this case. Thanks for posting!💫
"unloosened". Not quite sure how that word fits in the video...
