2002 Town and Country A/C Fix

  • After driving for about an hour in the summer with the A/C on, the A/C stopped blowing as cold or nearly as hard. I found an easy fix for this by replacing the In-Cabin Air Filter which was clogged with debris and had gotten wet and was totally surprised what a difference it made! Even better, I was thankful for NOT having to take the van into the shop and having to have the coolant added or whatever else they would come up with and charge me for.

    It helps a lot, I've 2003 T&C and wondered where's the cabin filter, mostly it's behind glove box

    Wow. I have the same symptom in 2008 Chrysler van.
    I will try this fix. Hope it works! After about 1-2 hours in a drive with AC on it blows weak, even though the fan is loud still on high.

    So, I have an 06 Town and Country. They no longer have replaceable cabin air filters. Most likely due to the water issue. I imagine you could drill a drain hole and put a plug in it to see if is filling with water.

    Having found both those random plastic pieces in the floor board. 2 weeks apart narrowed down the problem. Just needed to know which way it went back,drunk
    Buddy took it out. Thanx

    The filter was a option on many models. My 2 vans don't have one. I thought I would cut the box & installing one, but then realized that I have a life.

    Thanks, I didn't realize there's a retaining clip for the filter cover. I need to find a replacement clip to hold that cover in place.

    Nice! Gonna check mine tomorrow, 2003 T&C. Topped off the refrigerant & shows good pressure, but it's still not blowing cold...

      Did that help? I was surprised it worked for me on that trip. Now that I have a honda van instead, I wonder if they also have an in-cabin air filter. I'll have to check!

    what if my 2005 town country does not have cabin filter ?

    • @stoppedsnoring
      @stoppedsnoring  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your van isn't equipped with one, then I guess there would be nothing to restrict flow and cause that sort of problem like I was experiencing. I'm thinking In-cabin air filters may be overrated anyway just like my hepa-filter vacuum cleaner that never seemed to draw very well after a few minutes following cleaning the filter . Maybe someone else can chime in with their opinion..

    I just had the shop to replace this and now the A/C is NOT working!!! Do you know how this could happen?? Is it possible the shop did something just so my A/C would quit and I’d have to go back in to be charged more money?!! HELP PLZ! I’m a single mom with 3 kids and can’t afford to go back to the shop!!

      Replacing the cabin filter shouldn't cause any problem with the A/C. If you mean they replaced the A/C system, I would expect and demand that they would warranty/honor their work. If they replaced and recharged the system and it leaked out directly after that, then they really didn't do a good job.
