Awning LED Light Strip

- A video showing the installation of an LED Light Strip under the Awning on our RV. I was able to do this without any drilling into the tailer by utilizing the existing Porch Light.

I have a 2015 rockwood roo 233s and am looking for a direct replacement led strip for under my awning. I have 2 wires there from the old strip and my switch at the control panel. I can't find one anywhere
Is there a slot that the lights sit in? I would think that those 2 wires are delivering 12v when on... You could measure it with a volt meter. Then you can pretty much find anything LED on Amazon or eBay. You'll probably have to solder those wires onto the led strip.

Nice job. I have the same camper and this video is perfect. I was thinking of running it up from the light and drilling a hole just under the awning, so as to not have the wire run across the top to the right. Do you think this would be possible?
I don't have the exact one but when he pulled the porch light off, you could see inside. I would do it like you are thinking. Run a fish up that short distance or use a metal coat hanger if you don't have a fish. Measure how far it goes so you know where to drill. I'd then feed wire from the newly drilled hole down to light fixture. I'd look around at the different cabling from Amazon to see if I couldn't find one where the infrared wasn't so close to power connector. I'm pretty sure you'd be able to mount sensor by the light so you don't have to point to the corner. I'm going to do this to my new, well new to me, when I pick it up in a few days.
@@colleenv5040 Yea, I definitely went the 'easy route'. I know the walls are mostly foam so I didn't want to futz with that. I ended up putting some white tape over the wire to hide it. That being said, that wire probably does come down from the ceiling area so there's probably a channel in the foam there to fish up.
@@colleenv5040 The east route is to use a RF controller. Just search for Mini RF LED controller on Amazon or Ebay.
I found a inline bluetooth controller just like the RF controller on Ebay for just a couple dollars more. Think I'm gonna go that route so I can control it from my phone and dont have to worry about losing a remote or have to point a remote right at the controller to change settings.
It seems that the small controller you added in the links is different than yours. The one in the link is an RF controller not infrared. I’m having issues pairing it

I did lose the red lights this year. I kind of suspect the controller or the interface from controller to the lights. I've got the camper setup about 3 hrs away from home thoughand not in a good place to monkey with it. Other than that, the lights have stayed stuck on nicely with that 3m tape and I'm happy with the install.
Those control boxes aren't waterproof. Should have found a place inside to connect the box, drilled a hole to run wiring to box and keep IR sensor outside, use a rubber grommet to isolate in hole and a bit of sealant. Mine is connected behind the microwave in the cabinet and plugged into the 110 ac outlet. All you see is the light and IR sensor.
thanks for a great video but do you need to silicone the infra red sensor for the remote for protection or do you leave it exposed to the weather
Can you hook these lights straight up to a 15 Amp fuse instead of using the adapter or the LED Small Controller?
Well, you need the controller to control the lights. And the controller is infra red so your remote needs to transmit to it directly (line of sight). So, it needs to be wherever you want to control the lights from. In my case, it is outside. DC is DC so hooking to a 15 amp fuse should work no problem.

No problems with that... There's no "pairing" with the one I had... It's simply infra-red connection. Pairing would indicate some sort of Bluetooth connection.
@@MichaelPicher43 Yes I see that yours was infrared, but I purchased the one you added in the link which is RF not Bluetooth and requires pairing. I assume it’s better because you don’t have to point to the controller to operate. Anyway, I may have received a defective one. I’m returning it for another one, if I have no luck I’ll try the one with infrared. Thanks for responding.
