Don’t see many pitchers throwing 124 pitches anymore. Bro was throwing 95mph in the 9th too. You literally can’t not be impressed by that. I freakin love this team man
We're in something of a golden age of Philly sports. This city goes as the Phillies and Eagles go and to have them both doing special things at the same time is amazing. Something about this city man
He was throwing 100+ mph in college in the 9th inning and throwing guys out at the plate from center field as a two-way player, so no surprise here. ~GO Titans!
@@treywilliams5400 Much appreciated by this Phillies fan of many decades. WIth Lorenzen as 6th starter, Turner and Schwarber finally waking up, Harper getting stronger by the day, and a strong bullpen, the Phillies are becoming very dangerous. Despite all this, my vote for "best in MLB" is the Atlanta Braves.
@@henryt9281 Nah, a lot of those would've been genuinely difficult for a lot of people. Rojas just makes them look easy because he's good at getting a read on where the ball will be as soon as it leaves the bat.
I was not prepared to cry through an ENTIRE baseball game lol. Watching Casty hit his 200th HR, 2nd HR of the game, which ended up being the THIRD MOST important thing that happened 😂, along w/ Wes Wilson getting a HR in his 1st major league at bat w/ his whole family there, plus a no no from Lorenzen....HOW CAN YOU NOT BE ROMANTIC ABOUT BASEBALL???

@@geo3172 yes, that is [VERY OBVIOUSLY] what I meant. Obvious to people with common sense such as yourself, apparently not obvious to people with the IQs of gnats, such as Carmen up above.
Saw his pitch count at the end of the 8th and thought to my self that Rob might not let him out to try and finish this but i was so happy when i saw him come back out for the 9th
This was a great game to watch to show the effects of fatigue on a pitcher as well. You could see the contact getting harder off him by the 7th and 8th. Prior to those innings he was absolutely dominating the hitters and they could not square anything up. It's obviously rare for managers to leave pitchers in for so long, but there was no chance he was coming out of this game. Given the contact in the 7th and 8th it was cool to see him completely lock in for the 9th and dominate them for the last 3 outs.
As a Tigers fan with connection to the Phillies this make me so happy i dont know what to say other than I am so happy to see this, such an emotional game and what makes baseball special
This team is something special. Frustrating to say the least, but they have the heart! We can make the World Series again this year on the sheer unknown! It just takes games like these!
On August 1, 2023,Michael Lorenzen was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for prospect Hao-Yu Lee. AMAZING 👍😎⚾️ Michael Lorenzen pitched a no-hitter on August 9, 2023, at Citizens Bank Park against the Washington Nationals, which the Phillies won 7-0 AMAZING 👍😎⚾️
Usually there is that one defensive play that secure the no-no. I'd say Bohm to Harper in the 3rd was probably it. Sure, Nationals hit a TON of fly balls, but nothing too troubling. Great no hitter. Fun to watch.
We certainly enjoyed him for the brief time he was here in Detroit and he was already enjoying a career year, this couldn’t have happened to a finer individual, way to go!
The ONE thing this historic performance didn’t have is they signature incredible def play. There were tons of fly ball outs but there wasn’t that iconic hit saving play we usually see in these games. Either way huge props to ML he’s amazing and couldn’t be happier for the guy
I couldn't pitch a no-hitter. But give me Realmuto behind the plate, an infield of Stott and Harper , and a one-man outfield consisting of Johan Rojas, and I'll pitch a 2-hit shutout.
Well I really like him in Detroit probably was my favortie of the bunch pitching out of there...congrats though man seems Tiger pitchers just shine after they leave.
I hate the Phillies, but amazing job by Lorenzen. Congrats! Credit to the manager for letting him finish it out at 124 pitches and not making it potentially a combined (maybe) no hitter. If the Phillies were in serious contention he would have probably been pulled tho.
Yeah but still very unlikely that called strike would have affected anything since it was an 0-2 count. If it was full it would have been a different story

Gotta give Rojas a ton of credit too. He was handling that outfield so well.
He got a ton of action, but every one of those catches were can-of-corn routine for every Major League centerfielder.

Just amazing, his dad is looking from above proud as ever!
Let’s go! Well deserved congrats Michael ❤
I can't remember a no-hitter that had this much action in the outfield
I was thinking the same thing .. so many balls hit less than 10 ft from being home runs… WOW!!
I saw the mom on the jumbo tron on tv, and she was so emotional, it was very happy to see him get a no hitter 😊
No hits.
No dropped baby.
Win win.
Mom fielded baby cleanly throughout. Quite impressive!

Aww. Really great story with it being his debut with Philly and his mom in the stands. I’m sure his Dad is mighty proud of him.
I am so glad that I got to witness this in person. Congrats Lorenzen and go Phillies! ❤🤍💙
A couple of nice throws from Bohm at 3rd as well. One gorgeous performance by Lorenzen!

I’m not even a Phillies fan and this got me emotional 😅 Rojas reaction after making the catch for the last out is so wholesome.
Congratulations! From Japan.

Sorry if I offended you.

I'm a Cardinals fan, but I'm glad to see that there are these kinds of feats. whatever team it is, because they don't see each other often

I’ve re-watched this 3 times and it is just so much more amazing each time.
Awww, Mom got me emotional there at the end. Congrats!

one of the highlights of this great Phillies season. Hope Lorenzen can get that magic back we could really use him to finish the job in the playoffs\
I can’t handle the family shots. Y’all got me tearing up in the break room.
One of the best athletes to ever play baseball. Starting to figure out the pitching thing. What an accomplishment!
We certainly enjoyed him for the brief time he was here in Detroit and he was already enjoying a career year, this couldn’t have happened to a finer individual, way to go!
Struggled afterwards but if anyone can get the best out of him it's easily Mike Maddux! Welcome to the Rangers!
This game was so fun to be at the ballpark, gl in Texas Michael
A no-hitter in his first home game with a new team. Incredible!! And a morale boost for sure!
Incredible! What a GREAT pitching performance
Always been a big fan of Lorenzen. Just seems like a good guy, and he always puts in the work. So happy for him.
Our friends little brother from Anaheim. Congratulations 👏

Seriously, what's the record for most outs by flyballs to center field through 9 innings?
Good stuff.
No No's always give me goosebumps.
Michael needs to be thanking the outfielders
His Change Ups Pitches are Really Good
Kudos to the skip for allowing him to go out in the 9th.
It was such an awesome game! I was so lucky to have attended.
THE ONE GAME I MISS
When was the last time you remember a phils pitcher pitching a complete 9 innings ?
Vince Velasquez ironically
Love these moments. Great job kid 👍
For the love of god spell his last name right MLB
We missed you on the Reds man 😢. Yet congratulations, love it.
Lorenzen was NEVER the same after this game. He was an All star pitcher all year long. It was worth it for him regardless of what happened.
Tears of joy tears of joy 🥲
