    Wow - he was moving so casually and so slow. It’s quite the contrast when you watch him play other professionals - so fast.

    Obviously xu xin was just chilling with these matches. Last one had clever game, since she knows her opponent wouldn’t attack

    Hahaha so funny to watch and at the same time a great honor and experience for these amateurs to play with professionals like
    Xu Xin!!

    It's so much more entertaining to watch Xu Xin playing vs amateur or exhibition matches than him playing serious because he would attract more non TT fans to watch and make TT popular. He could make a decent living just playing exhibition matches like Killerspin in USA.

    I would say these ladies are not true amateurs. Most of them, if not all, at one time played professionally. Or, at least had some professional trainings when they were young.

  • @peterbrorsson5714
    @peterbrorsson5714 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Struggled a bit with the serve from #2 not tossing the ball up. When these ladies played it was 0-0 start. When the CHN national ladies team met the men they got a 8-6 lead (I think) :-).

    Good that the Xuperman was toying with those amateurs. Everyone but the last one all had foul serves. Also the last one was able to play some decent backhands. Those older penholder style with the first two ladies were so 1970s that they are completely obsolete today. Also noticed that they were playing their forehands everywhere on the table. Their weak footwork meant that they couldn't cover side-to-side fast enough.
    As well, the difficulty of smashing from Xu's towering lobs were all there to see. Either they were too tired to hit those high balls repeatedly, but the dips and swirls from those lobs made it difficult to hit properly as well.

    • @johnjkiwi7818
      @johnjkiwi7818 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I think you are being too critical.
      The two ladies' penholder technique and footwork may not be the best, but
      remember they are playing table tennis just for the sheer joy of it.
      Also that they were able to play against a former world champion is something
      they will treasure for the rest of their lives.

  • @ramonbmovies
    @ramonbmovies ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Interesting. But I'm sure even I could beat most of the amateurs. I'd want to see him play someone rated 2400-2500 in the U.S. Even more interesting is if I played him - now that would be a dream come true.

    • @yianpap6093
      @yianpap6093 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why would that be interesting? Surely you realise he can go up 10 levels for what he is doing here. As for playing someone rated 2400 in the US, how did you pick that number?! He could beat pretty much anyone in the US regardless of their ranking.

    • @ramonbmovies
      @ramonbmovies ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@yianpap6093 Yes, you're 100% right. I chose 2400 because 2400 is around the rating of my tt coach, and that's the low-end of a competitive player in elite levels of the U.S. After that, every 100 pts is like going up 500 pts. I've seen 2600+ lvl, i.e., Jishan Liang, which is the low-end of Olympic-quality level. Kanak Jha is around or near 2800, and he even won a set against Ma Long. I suppose if I saw Xu Xin vs. a 2400 player, that would be a fun game to watch. I don't think he'd be able to simply stand there lazily like he did against the amateurs in the video. He'd have to step it up a few levels if he didn't want to lose. But yes, I know that's just a few lvls, and he'd have plenty of leeway to be a showman. And yes, he'd absolutely destroy the best of the best in the U.S.

      @@qidongxu7339 I guess that depends on the definition of amateur. Basically it describes someone who doesn´t play professional at the moment. Means, that he don´t get paid for it. But most of the former players are playing in amateur leagues, aren´t they? So yeah I guess it would be a match of amateur players who were professionals

    Serious? Fun is Adam Bobrow, Xu Xin is terrible as a entertainer… He practically doesn't smile, he doesn't make any jokes, there's no fun here... If you watch this kind of promotional game in tennis, with Federer, Nadal, Jocko, then you'll see that there's fun... here's just a famous table tennis top playing without sketching any emotion. It looks like he didn't even want to be there! I wasted my time trying to find some fun here, but not.
