Funny thing about this video is that Sorin was mad because there was no challenge for him, meanwhile for us mere mortals it could have taken days before we find the problem, let alone fixing it

hey mr sorin ! good to see you again ! and there not waste of time jobs, its good to see the train of thought that leads you to the cause of the problem, as in the power button issue. so with the macbook was it just the dirt and liquid damage that was stopping it from powering on? or the battery needed a boost like you do with the phones ?

@Electronicsrepairschool I wanted to leave a tip here, where I'm having enough difficulties. Test N channel and P channel transistors, as well as power fet. I have seen many videos through youtub but each one is more confusing than the other and testing the way many of them do not hit either on the boards or off the boards. Hugs.

On the dell laptop, I was expecting a chip broken for the power button not to work. I have seen that problem 2 times.

I had a e5440 completely dead even with a new battery. I shorted the bios pins and it turns on now but only runs for 3 seconds and turns off

What does it mean when the computer only turns on with BIOS Battery out to reset?
Unit must be drained of all power and cmos battery out. Power Pluged in, then battery added back in, cmos battery added back in. Then it will start. After shut down it will not start until this procedure is repeated again.
Can you please do a video on how you make your liquid flux? Or tell how you do it? I just bought the same stuff you use from Ebay but don't know how to make it like yours. please.

I made my own colophonium by collecting Pine Sap, it was old and dry but clean of debris. I heated it to make it runny and then filtered it through very fine mesh. Heated it again to drive off the turpentine then filter again. The mesh was about 120 fibers/inch stainless steal.

I mixed my colophon (break it down to make it like powder) with acetone and I got my liquid flux.
You can get the acetone from any Tesco
I purchased the Stannol Kolophonium which Sorin uses from Ebay and I have isopropyl alcohol. What I mean when I ask how to make it the same as sorins is how much of the Kolophonium did he break up and how much isopropyl alcohol did he use to get it to the right consistency that he works with. I know crushing it and mixing it is what you have to do but I dont know how much of each to use.
