Fabulous playing! Excellent woodwind principals - first oboe in particular. Really enjoyable performance, conductor's singing along notwithstanding! A good year. More, please!
Eines der schwersten Werke der klassischen Literatur, gespielt von einem so jungen Orchester - Hut ab! * One of the most difficult pieces of classics literature, played by such a young Orchestra - hat off! 👏
A little late with the CU of the four hand piano, but at least it's there. I saw Tortelier conduct this at San Francisco Symphony, about 20 yrs. ago, and it blew me away, so I see it when I get the chance. This past weekend, L.A. Philh. Orch. played it at Disney Hall. Sat right behind the orchestra in the 2d row, and everyone was leaning over the railing to see the 4 hand piano and the organ player in tandem. An odd, but pleasiing, difference in this weekend's work was that the conductor (another French guy...Louis Langree') added 4 french horns to go w/ the trumpets; luckily I was sitting right at the business end of said horns....pretty cool.
Very good performance of the orchestra, the conductor did a superb job. The only disfonction or lack of breath was the organ, the star of that symphony. The horns were outperforming the organ.
Outstanding performance. Difficult piece to control. Excellent tempi maintained by Maestro Tortelier. This young orchestra played as true veterans. I still enjoy the old choir method of conducting without a baton. Only wish the organ had more wind.
sehr gute Interpretation, eventuell wäre der eine oder andere zusätzliche Bass hilfreich gewesen, aber das Gesamtwerk ist spitze , die Kamera Regie ist grottenschlecht, aber das wichtigste ist der Klang
8:55 - a sight and sound that just thrills.
This is nothing short of BRILLIANT!! I love it all; the amazing young lady on Cymbals! I watched her constantly! thank you
Jeunes musiciens brillants, un chef excellent ! Le génie de l'oeuvre est respecté, on retrouve la "furia francese" ! Bravo !

_Maestro Pascal point's to the horns and tells them to blow there brains out! Another very _*_FANTASTIC_*_ performance of this classic!_ 😁
A great performance and the conductor nailed the tempo on the finale.
Truly and excellent performance.
Great to see Waldo is playing the violin in this concert. Didnt know he could play the violin. Great job.

Bravo! Very strong string section

Wonderful! Wish the organ was a little louder in this recording.

it takes a lot of ranks to do this piece justice.
Enfin ! "l'entente cordiale" franco-britannique !!!!!
Depuis M. Charles-Marie Widor et M. Horace Hawkins, titulaire de la cathedrale de Chichester, il y'en avait !!
@Yves le coz. I am British and my favourite composer is Louis Hector Berlioz :-)
The Symphony from Saint-Saens was actually commissioned from the United Kingdom!
Was that the conductor I heard singing out loud toward the end?
I have heard conductors singing along in the Finale of Beethoven's 9th.
he's singing/humming through the whole thing if you listen carefully!
Nice set of pipes! What are the technical specs on that organ?
WHICH Royal Academy of Music and WHERE is Duke's Hall?
RAM/London. Duke's Hall is their principal performing venue at the Academy with good acoustics.
est-ce le chef d'orchestre qui chantonne ? C'est fort désagréable !!!!!!
