The very first Mario Party game and you can tell that they really put a lot of effort into this one! It feels like the most complete Mario Party game I've played so far. They truly wanted to get the most out of the whole concept.
There are 6+2 maps to be played. The first 6 are each dedicated to one of the 6 characters you can choose from.
Once you have played all 6 maps, you can purchase the special bowser map for 980 coins. Then lastly, you can unlock the final eternal star map when you have unlocked a HUNDRED stars (this took a while to grind lol). The Eternal Star map works a little bit differently as there are many more stars to collect. It's a really exciting map. When you win the Eternal Star, you get to see the ending and credits. This is the actual end-game which most people have never seen before. All uploaded longplays of this game are incomplete in this sense, too.
What makes the first Mario Party game so unique is how it doesn't feature shops on the board or items to be used. This makes the game far more dependent on RNG. Even if you win every mini-game and try to make the right board choices, there's still a good possibility to not make it to the first place whereas the later MP entries allow those who win a lot of minigames to purchase items to give themselves an advantage (genie lamps, mushrooms, etc).
Our old upload and it's comments can be viewed here: th-cam.com/video/-xM0mjP8_K8/w-d-xo.html

This first game is always a classic! Sure, it’s annoying that you lose stars, but that’s the charm of what makes it so fun!

Hard to believe that this game is turning 25 this year. You'd be surprised how time flies. Anyway, I currently own this game and its sequel along with Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, GoldenEye 007, Wave Race 64, 1080° Snowboarding, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Excitebike 64, Banjo-Kazooie, and Super Smash Bros.

I was a week old newborn when this was launched in Japan first on December 14th 1998.
24 years later it still holds up to this day damn I feel so old.
I find it so funny the first 3 games were launched in Japan first in December just in time for Christmas holidays back in the day.
The second entry was launched in Japan on December 17th 1999 10 days after my first birthday.
The third entry which was the last one on the N64 was launched in Japan on December 7th 2000 my 2nd birthday.

    All Last Place Aftermaths:
-1:01:55 Mario's Rainbow Castle (Fall trying to climb the rainbow, and carried away by Lakitu)
-2:03:20 Donkey Kong's Jungle Adventure (The classic Indiana Jones bolder chase)
-2:52:55 Peach's Birthday Cake (Mauled by a Piranha Plant)
-3:53:58 Yoshi's Tropical Island (Fish Food for Bubba/Cheep Chomp)
-4:58:45 Wario's Battle Canyon (Shot out of Bowser's cannon, which is ironically the only time it's used)
-5:54:10 Luigi's Engine Room (Burning buns via steam generators)
(By the way, you got the Wario's Battle Canyon and Luigi's Engine Room timestamps mixed up in the description)
