- In memory of Walter (Wally) Murphy & James Darmody.
Wanderson | Filmed in 2016 | In Contract & Farm 5, we spend a few months with Murphy Brothers Contractors based in Portlaw, Co.Waterford. In this DVD we talk to the dealers about the machines that they supply to Murphy's & get their perspective.
Murphy's fleet of tractors consist or Fendt & New Holland along with Claas, Case IH and John Deere.
We catch up with them ploughing with Overum ploughs & drilling with a Lemken one pass along with tilling, bed forming and planting potatoes. They spread fertilizer with a Bogballe spreader and slurry with a Joskin tanker.
Silage is cut with a reverse drive Fendt 828 with rear Claas triples & harvested with a Claas 900 forager and hauled with Dooley Trailers. They also have a 2nd crew with 4 Pottinger wagons backed up 2 JCB 435s loaders. Murphy's run Hitachi excavators that we see working on different jobs.
The cereal harvest is completed with a Claas Lexion 620 & NH TX34 and as autumn approaches we move to the maize and potato harvest. We follow the crew at ploughing, drilling and spreading dung with a Richard Western. We finish up looking at Murphy's covering carrots with a Jones Engineering straw layer..
