    I've watched hundreds of videos on how to disassemble and reassemble pistols and rifles over the years but this one is by far the best done video I have ever had the pleasure to use. Can't thank you enough for the time and effort you put into this, well done.

    Why is there even one thumbs down? This video should be a mandatory piece in any gunsmithing course or training. Thank you, A+ in all aspects.

      The thumbs down probably comes from the guy that pried his forearm off same as his double bbl shotgun, before he watched this video

    This video is by far the best tutorial on the Winchester 94, all the verbage spoken is accurate and easy to understand. The tools used are good quality gunsmithing tools that prevent damage during disassemble and reassembly and correctly handled including the tape tip on the punch. Camera angles and close ups are clear and professionally done. I applaud you for this 1st class video, I look forward to seeing more videos from this gentleman.

      @@cathat227 I was wondering the same thing! I have a pre 64 model and it seems to take one shell at a time. I assume that the spring has been replaced or compressed in some fashion? I am not confident about disassembling my rifle but if all I have to do is remove the magazine plug screw, I would certainly give that a shot.

    Bought the airgun th-cam.com/users/postUgkxQt2uORDRfFOVSrO4idv4B90ThT6EOnEL for pest control. Initially sighted-in with lead pellets but after about 100 shots decided to upgrade to the faster PBA Platinum pellets (spec'd at 1250 fps). The picture shows the distribution of 11 pellets on a target at ~20 yards. Overall, very happy with the handling of the Varmint, little recoil, no scope creep (make sure to follow the installation instructions that include the lock pin!), lightweight and fits nicely in a standard carrying case. The airgun is loud, more so shooting with PBA pellets. Something to consider if that's a possible issue in your environment / neighborhood.Update: considering upgrading to a more powerful 0.22, likely Gamo Magnum. I'm not thrilled about using toxic lead pellets but there's no other way to get sufficient impact without lead weight as far as I can tell, which is needed for adult iguanas pest control.

    Good Sir,
    Much appreciation for your disassembly/reassembly video. I had a rebluing job become necessary on the Model 94 bequeathed me by my brother at the time of his passing due to the neglect shown during the few years of his life.
    Now, mirror finished and nearly black as night, I can proudly pass this rifle to my son and his posterity for the enjoyment of the generations to come and know, so long as they care properly for the rifle this job should not be necessary again in the future.
    Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life. This wasn't work but rather a loving application of my skills made possible by your own.
    Thank you, be well, be safe and be blessed in all things my friend.
    Sincerely and Respectfully Yours,
    ...~Dr. Benny

    I have a rather early model 94 rifle with the octagonal barrel. It's action is very stiff when operating the lever. Other than that it's in mint condition. I believe it was manufactured in 1905. Up until your video I was rather intimidated with the dis assembly but after watching this I don't think I'll have any problems. I tend to think that the under side of the bolt is probably galled as well as the upper surface of the hammer where it rides so I surmise I'll have to do some polishing of those surfaces to regain it's smoothness of operation. At any rate, thanks so much for your taking the time to post this video. Totally appreciated.

    I just disassembled my 1894 made in 1950 for the first time since I inherited it from my grandfather about 2 months ago. I love lever actions as I was taught to shoot with them, grew up on cowboy movies, and the first gun I was crazy for and still holds a special place in my heart was the Winchester 1887 from Terminator 2. That being said, 3 hours for a first time break down, cleaning, and reassembling is insane. As I get more practiced, it will get easier but i have a feeling I will be using cotton swabs and pipe cleaners for the foreseeable future when I need to clean my deer gun

    Awesome tutorial Amateur Smith !I got a 1949 model 64 from a pawn shop and when I got it home I noticed it had loose cartridge guide rails /screws on both sides...yikes....! I pulled the guide rails out & cleaned/polished them then reinstalled with new screws from a Brownells screw kit.Very little room to work with,getting the screws back in....had to make custom flat blade drivers from allen wrenches on the bench grinder. Was not able to torque screws down tightly. and thinking screws will eventually back out again ,applied loctite blue to threads....Will range check now& monitor for tightness.

    • @Njennings42
      @Njennings42 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey man, you have no idea how much I appreciate the video! Most of the other videos out there don't even do a full breakdown. They just take out the sections but don't even break them down. I'm not a gun-expert by any means, but I could tell half of those guys did not even know what they were doing. You provided a good explanation of things and how they come apart and go back together.
      I do have a quick question though if you don't mind; I have a few screws in my gun that I can't seem to get loose. I don't want to strip them (any more than they already are), so for the moment I'm not going to take the gun apart. Would DW-40 be an alright thing to use on my gun, or is there something else I should be using? I'm relatively new to rifles, and don't want to mess anything up. This is my first rifle, I just bought it about a month ago. I own and have taken apart a number of shotguns, but they are a much easier thing to work on.
      I certainly appreciate your videos and expertise!

    • @amateursmith1697
      @amateursmith1697  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nathan Jennings awesome man glad I could help. The best thing to use would be rem oil an soak it for 10 min. But yes wd40 will work as well give it 10 min, grab a wooden mallet and smack the area around the screw. Grab an over size flat head screw driver and grind the thickness down until the tip barely fits in the screw, smack the handle with a hammer until it seats itself completely in the screw then start unscrewing.
      I recommend buying a gunsmith screw set in the future if you don't already have one. You never want to work on these firearms without the proper tapered screw bit. I would recommend buying new screws as well you can find them for 99cents on numrich

    He does an outstanding job of showing me how to disassemble and reassemble that weapon the only thing that been driving me crazy is your Vice bolt should be carriage bolts and they're upside down I can't take it it's driving me crazy take that damn bolt out of there. And change it with a carriage bolt turn it around and all you'll see is a flat surface and everything will be out of your way

    Thank you so much for this instructional video. All the models differ slightly over the years and I have a 94 that was made in 1965. So not to much was different, and it was easy to follow along with.

    Thanks for this! Took a while to get the first pin out on my dad’s old rifle. I had to let it sit with some penetrating oil for a day, and had to go down to a 1/16 inch punch to get it out. Would love to see this video updated with recommended tools and methods to deal within sticky parts.

    Thanks for this great tutorial on disassembly and reassembly of 1894 Winchester. My opinion, the best on utube. And I watched several others before this one. I just finished complete tear down, clean, relube and reassembly of a friends '08 25-30 WCF 1894 Winchester using your video for guidance.
    They haven't changed much internally. 😂 With your help it was a breeze. Subbed
    Thanks again.
