I wear dresses everyday just like you. I'm so glad I found this video. I'm 5 months pregnant with my 5th baby and I really want to live more simply. I have decluttered a lot but I still have so much.
I loved when you said you were trying to live a simple life for the glory of his kingdom. That resonated with me so much because I spend a lot of time managing my things taking care of kids clothes and everything that there is to do.
I really want to live even more simply
I wear skirts or dresses exclusively. These I pair with a cardigan, vest, or jacket or blazer. As a classic, almost daily I use a belt, pearls (both genuine and costume) and a scarf to feel put together. I often receive compliments on my appearance. I enjoy the art of dressing in a modest and feminine manner. A simple black skirt and a simple black dress are the mainstays of my wardrobe. Then I love a bright pop of colour in the sweater or jacket.
Love the wardrobe! I secondhand all my clothes. I wear Maxi dresses everyday with a plain top for modesty and sandals (mostly barefoot). In the fall I just add a cardigan sweater and flats. And winter a waterproof shell jacket over the cardigan and some rain/snow boots. My entire wardrobe consists of 5 dresses and 5 tops that accompany it. 2 cardigans. Rainjacket. Sandals. Flats. And the boots. For over 2 years now.
Getting things secondhand is really important to me, too, even if it's "cheaper" to buy an item new from Amazon or Shein or something like that. My favorite things to wear are black denim shorts that I got from my neighborhood Buy Nothing group and one of the tank tops/t-shirts I got from my apartment building's giveaway area. Giveaway areas are pretty common in low-to-middle-income apartment buildings in New York City because folks declutter their spaces all the time, and it's easier to put stuff out for your neighbors to take than it is to transport it all the way to a donation center. Hi Joy, I was searching videos on contentment and came across your channel. I already watched them all. You showed me what true contentment is. I was always chasing after the dollar. Never having enough and getting so upset when I would lose y money in the stock market or miss out in gains. It ate away at me like a cancer. I have so much to be thankful for and God has met all of my needs. Can you do a video on how you save money!! I want to find a balance so money does not control me. God bless.you and your family.

I love your dresses especially paired with the jean jacket. I started wearing dresses, often with leggings, throughout the year. I love dressing modestly and pretty. It can feel a little odd in some situations, but I love it, my grandmother always wore dresses and beads no matter what she was doing, and I tell myself it worked for her, and it will work for me. Love all your dresses! I have never been a jeans girl either...just don't find them comfortable. I mostly wear dresses and skirts. I too have mostly blue, lots of navy and stripes. I feel most comfortable in polo style dresses. I have tried thrifting online but after a few didn't fit I stopped.
Your wardrobe is so pretty! Thanks for showing us! In the winter my uniform is black paper bag pants and a black top. In the summer my uniform is black linen style pants and a black tank top. I love how different styles work for different people!

This is the first time I am seeing your channel. I love your style and all of your dresses are beautiful. This year I have been on a self discovery journey, I have decided to let my gray hair grow out, no longer dying it, gone through my makeup to choose the best colors that look good on me, and I have decided to stop wearing pants and only wearing leggings to the gym and just mostly wear skirts and dresses since I feel the most comfortable in them. I buy most of my clothes from Shein, but I am trying Bloomchic, at times its hard to find the style that I like and fits my apple body shape.

I love wearing dresses too but I am working hard on not worrying about my 'squishy' arms and my 'had 10 babies' tummy. I wonder why I am always surprised by the areas of my life that I need God to help me with (spoiler alert: everything). Blue is your color, Joy!🥰 I've discovered this past year+ that I am half classy/dressy and half casual...so, dark jeans with a blouse or sweater, or conversely, a crisp, white T-shirt with a beige skirt. I mostly love neutral colors, and fairly modest. I bought 2 pairs of skinny jeans (not REAL skinny jeans, but on me they are fitted) this winter on sale...and then the styles all changed and fitted jeans went out of style.😭 Since I always wear them with a longer cardigan, sweater or blouse, I will continue to wear them. I will proudly be out of fashion, until they wear out!😆 Very inspiring video.♥️🇨🇦
I mostly wear skirts and dresses. My current favorite is a knee length kakhi skirt with a flowy flowered shirt. Hope asked me to say 'Hi!' to Sanyu. Thanks for sharing.😀

Ok...comment number 3...I wear jeans and crew neck t-shirts in different colours. It isn't my favourite thing to wear. It is just what I wear. We are in lockdown again but when we aren't I go to Vinnies or Salvos and sometimes Savers. I LOVE to thrift! Now I am really going haha

I to enjoy a good dress. I try my best to search first at our thrift stores and don't always have "luck" unfortunately then I go to clearance/sale items. I mostly were skirts & dresses in summer, but where I live in Canada 🇨🇦, the temps can vary A LOT! Saturday was 35C and today it was 12C when I left the house for work. So I do keep a couple pairs of slacks and a couple cardigans for summer wear.

Yes, I do always wear an apron for all my cooking and messy cleaning!! I wish I had a pretty apron to show you, but sadly mine is pretty utilitarian blue with white stripes. ;)

All of these dresses are so beautiful, and I love how cohesive your style is. I would love to add a different color to my wardrobe, almost all of my dresses are black. One of the biggest issues I’ve had is finding fabrics that I like. Clothing can be such poor quality these days and the fabrics often feel very cheap.
On an unrelated note, how has the pandemic affected you and your community in Uganda?
Finding fabric that I like has been a big issue for me as well! It is difficult to find the fabric that I like! Lockdown in Uganda has not been easy. 2020 was rough for most Ugandans as we were locked down from even driving for 5 plus months. We have just entered another lock down here in UG which isn't as tight as before, but I worry about the community here not being able to work or go to school
Recently I’ve been wearing dresses and a few skirts almost entirely at home. I’ve even found a few good camping skirts for my tee shirts. Love love love the simple wardrobe and the blue. I’m actually wondering how dresses are going to work out during fall and winter here in South Eastern Kentucky 😕

Such a fun peek into your wardrobe! Mostly dresses are my uniform along with leggings and tunic-length top on occasion. I found that they work best for me a little over 10 years ago so they have become my signature. I'd like to wear jeans again one day but I usually find them uncomfortable and too hot. I think they look amazing with a nice blouse and heels though. I prefer to purchase most of my clothes off of Thred Up too. That way, I can buy quality items but for a lower price. I've had mostly good luck.

I wear dresses or skirts mostly. If I do need pants I like wearing palazzo pants. I find my clothes at thrift stores or Thread Up.

It's my first visit to your vlog. I was intrigued by the fact that you own so few clothes. I'm amazed but now that I know you like wearing dresses and you live in Uganda it is certainly more doable. I too am trying to simplify but it is hard for me to get rid of perfectly good items and I find I need a lot more because I live in place where we have 4 distinct seasons. I keep buying more too as I've lost weight. I always buy on sale and though I buy other things at the thrift I do not buy clothing. Perhaps one day I will find something I like but I go so seldom. Favourite or daily items to wear include comfortable trousers and a long sleeved pullover top and possibly a cardi/hoodie/jacket of some kind depending on the cold. In summer much the same with short sleeved tops and lightweight trousers. I also wear far more dresses in summer and dressier tops. I look forward to checking out more of your videos.
Hi!! So last year when I was in the States I still did a ten item wardrobe, but adjusted it for the season there. If you have lost weight, yes, of course you need to buy different things! You shouldn't feel guilty! If it was me I would make a list of what you want/need for each season, color palette, how many items you want/need, and go from there! It sounds quite fun to make a new wardrobe over time. I'd love to help you if you want the help!! ;)
@@JoyForney Wow, I might take you up on the kind offer one day. It may not be for awhile because I'm currently decluttering and trying to downsize possessions and do minor DIYs. I do have one pair of leggings and one exercise top (and some thrifted Nike's) I wear them every day to walk (no longer jogging at the moment) and then I wash them every 3 days.... not too exciting, but gets the job done!! ;)

I make the vast majority of my clothes because being just 5 foot, not even petite sizes fit well enough.

Why did you get rid of your lovely Pyne and Smith dresses? 😭 those were high quality to last many years. I admired them, but they are very expensive.
