I have to tell you...I visited for the first time this past year. I did not go in because I didn't have any equipment(head lamps etc) so my friend and I walked around the perimeter of the cavern outside . we saw a couple of Amish kids that had been spelunking, coming up out of the ground. it was awesome. I remember saying to them, "I always wondered where the Amish come from"
    They thought it was funny.

It pains me to see that no matter how many clean up attempts from many individuals, this cave goes right back to trash in mere months. People have no respect for the world around them let alone for each other.

Great vid! I've been in Wind cave a number of times but not for about 15 years. I was cool to see it on your video. I renember squeezing through places and it got a bit hairy at times. Also remember going in during march when I slipped on ice going in, hit hard and nearly lost my light. I live near there and it is said that the first traders found pots filled with various offerings the Natives lined the long entrance with. Life can be traced back 15,000 years in that area. Also the largest consintrarion of petroglyphs on the east coast. Thanks Much! DaveyJO

Shame about all that graffiti. Really need to get you out here to the desert Southwest for some awesome abandoned mine exploration. You’d love it!

I been there many times before.Actually crawled a distance through jagged rocks extremely narrow.
Been on top of the cave and heard high pitched laughing somewhere nearby. So if
you go there don't go alone let someone know your going there. This area is haunted
and use caution in that cave.

WOW!!!! What a place. I can only compare it to the slot canyon and the calcite caves in Sonora, Tx. I was very lucky to go there. My partner was a geologist. He passed away last August. He was only 65. Sigh. I hope I find another person who likes to travel, and has a curious mind!!! I truly believe that is the secret to staying young. I felt like a child, being out in the high desert. I never camped out before. Not really. He said I was a "trooper". I don't complain and am low-maintenance. RIP, Barry Smith, formerly of San Antonio......

there is no way.......I began getting claustrophobic just watching this...does not look like fun but a way to the panic room. too bad there is no way to find out who did the vandalism but its against the law....should be a stiff fine or punishment for such defacing of public property. Glad you enjoy this type of recreation but it would never even make my list....I can't take compression rooms in haunted houses. I agree that you should never do this alone. A sudden medical emergency while caving could be fatal. Plas don't go alone.

I've been all through this place many times. There used to be lots of bats but haven't seen any there for 10 years or so. There's a disease that's killing them plus the people running them out. It's not good for people who are claustrophobic at all. If you do go here be careful and don't take up any more parking then needed cause there isn't much. It's especially nice hiking in from Tucquan glen or the Pinnacle on a hot day when you get there it's like a walk in refrigerator.

As a caver myself, honestly that's the first thing I was thinking too (and I'm surprised yours is the only comment saying anything about it).
People, you have no idea how easy it is to bump your head... hard... on something while doing this, until you do it and are laying on the ground for awhile right after that. You really don't wanna be that guy.

Yes Yes Yes. I have been in a cave like this, possibly this one or the one before. It has been decades ago and we called it the Pequea cave. I went with a professor and some other students. We were fine but there were some scary moments, in any case.

    • @karenboyd6293

I wouldn't explore in such places without climbing equipment. You need ropes, hard hats, a first aid kit, candles, direction markers, a grappling hook, rations plus stove, waterproofs and pegs to fix into cracks. Lack of preparation hastens disaster. It is imperative you go properly prepared and you know the grading of your climb / descent.
