    Before I got my first Pioneer, I thought I won't have any use for the reamer.
    Nowadays, it's probably my most used tool. It's a sharp and pointy piece of steel - useful for a lot of random tasks.

    Love my Compact and Climber! I added the mini screwdriver, pin, and magnet to the Climber for alot of extra functionality. I like your use of the Swisscard when paired with a smaller SAK.

    I have a climber with the silver scales I bought to go with a watch more than anything else, but it does make a light urban carry.
    Thanks for the upload 🍻

    I've carried the Executive for something like 30 years. I've tried several others but like the Executive form factor; two layer, 75mm, twin blades. After watching lots of video's, and hearing others worship of the Compact, I purchased one and have been trying it out. What I like about the Compact is the more robust blade and scissors. I miss the file on the Executive that also doubles as a phillips screw driver, and I also miss the small blade. I also really like the lighter weight of the Executive. The Compact has certainly earned a place in the rotation; but the Executive is still my go to EDC Knife. To be sure, habit plays a large part in my preference!

    • @urbanknifeguy
      @urbanknifeguy  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for sharing! Personally, I find the 75mm a bit too small. I've heard others comment that they would love a Compact in 84mm. I think you would like that too!

    1. My dream urban SAK would be a Compact with an inline PH screwdriver + flashlight layer (you can see a similar layer on the Spartan Lite or on the Huntsman Lite). Too bad Victorinox prefers the good-for-nothing LEDs.
    2. Out of these, I'm torn between the Climber (if you add plus scales to it) and the Compact. The latter desperately calls for a dedicated Phillips head screwdriver, the corner of the combotool just doesn't suffice.
    3. If you're going with wooden or alox scales but are missing the scale tools just have a Classic SD or a Rambler on your keychain in addition to your Spartan Wood, Pioneer X, Cadet (whatever you carry). But if you need a ballpoint pen go with the Midnite Manager.
    4. By the way, the Cadet deserves a mention too. Very slim, elegant, perfect for suit pockets for example if that's the environment you're in.

    • @urbanknifeguy
      @urbanknifeguy  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, Victorinox should do a Compact with a Philips head screwdriver. I covered the Cadet in my "slim" series . These are consider "medium", by my standards.

      So does my Climber...retrofitted with Plus Scales at a total cost around the same as the Compact. I rate the extra blade and tools it has very highly.

    • @urbanknifeguy
      @urbanknifeguy  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @simonh6371 I would say yes! Any of those models retrofitted with the plus scales will be a winner! Except the Alox, until they make scale tools for Alox models.

    • @simonh6371
      @simonh6371 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@urbanknifeguy Just pondering how those alox scales would be made. Looking on the Vic German language website it says that they are ''pressed (into a mould) and milled (machined)''. So the only way to add channels for scale tools would be to either change the moulds, or add an extra machining step during production. So it's possible but I doubt whether they will do it. For many SAK aficionados the workaround is to carry an alox model e.g. Pioneer or Farmer and add to that a 58mm model e.g. Classic, Rambler etc.

    • @urbanknifeguy
      @urbanknifeguy  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @simonh6371 yes, it would have to be done at the manufacturing process with new moulds. I highly doubt they will do it too as they would need new designs for the scale tools which would have to he thinner. They definitely will not compromise the current thinness of the current Alox scales. I am presently enjoying pairing the Pioneer X Alox with the Swisscard Nailcare.

    Best SAK: The one that has the tool you need when you need it. If you're carrying an alox knife but need to uncork a wine bottle, you failed the mission. If you need a wood saw to cut a tree branch to make a slingshot for your nephew but you're carrying a Climber, you also failed the mission. If you need scissors to trim your nose hair but you're carrying a Cadet, you failed the mission as well. Just accept the fact that running into these situations is unavoidable.
