Dude, you were *not* being a diva. You were misled about the accommodations, and you needed something else. It's that simple. You had every right to ask for it to be canceled. Don't feel bad because you may have inconvenienced someone, when they clearly didn't care that they were inconveniencing you.

Bindiya J I’ve tried to use Airbnb 2 times and it did not workout for me. Unfortunately I had two bad hosts back to back so I’m never using the service again. Not trying to discourage you but it really does depend on how great of a host you have and if they are honest about their accommodations. Good luck!
The reason I prefer K&N over any other travel vlogger that I have come across is the transparency they had promised to show in the beginning of the journey and still continue to do so, instead of painting a pretty picture. There are always situations like this IRL and am so glad that they took a brave face through it, the reason why they are so relatable. Maybe they didn't record the everything, maybe they control their reactions for the camera, but in the end they showed it and that's why I love them and follow them ♥️🙌
Highly likely that this room had Internet a year ago. Don’t forget that this Beautiful island was destroyed by the hurricane. Lots of house owners lost everything also the internet connections. They are doing their best to rebuild everything to welcome the tourists.

But the point of the matter was - you never said anything bad about that AirBnB other than it's not what you expected and it wasn't really suitable for the work you intended to do there. Agreed! we've had a similar Airbnb experience - there were rats crawling around in the ceiling as we were trying to go to sleep! We ended up just sticking it out because it was the middle of the night!
I always have a laugh at at your organised chaos at airports. 13 minutes before boarding and Kara's pressing the elevator button to go to a lounge! Brilliant. I'd be rushing for the gate. Maybe I need to chill a bit, and adopt the Kara+Nate approach to airports.

My parents and I had a bad experience with hosts with Airbnb, we were staying in Anna Maria Island Fl with family friends and we didn’t want to intrude any longer so we had booked a home about 45 minutes away. When we got there the house had no AC during the first week of July in southern Florida, (not good) but as you said Airbnb’s support team was AMAZING!! I’m glad they are so wonderful especially to those in another country, I’m glad you got it all figured out!! Much love from Chattanooga 💞

Wow, I've made many dive trips to Honduras, Belize, Egypt, etc. and learned that the best made plans don't always work out. Patience is the answer and you guys do it so well! Thanks for sharing your world wide adventures with us.
Nate and Kara, I was formally a flight attendant with united and delta. These air bnb's should provide an adequate stay, if they don't you are entitled to a refund. After having my 2nd cancer surgery in 2021 (ovarian cancer) and with the pandemic, I haven't traveled since 2019 and 2013 for international travel. We'll I'm heading to Las Vegas and staying in an air bnb 5 minutes from the strip in a house dirt cheap but very nice. I told the lady with the air bnb , wonderful you have a coffee maker. My motto have coffee will travel. The air bnb host said. Coffee is Life. Amen to that! Have happy, Safe travels.🤗🛫✈️

I've only booked with Airbnb once and I'd say it was an ok experience even though the room had some issues. It was in Mexico and the apartment had a real mildew issue and there was a bad smell we just couldn't get rid of. The windows opened to an interior corridor so there was really no where for the moisture (from years of showers and wet bathing suits) to go. Once you were in you got used to it but it would be noticeable every time you got in. We bought some air freshener but it didn't help. The host was lovely and helped us a lot during our stay. We were going for cheap and cheerful so we just sucked it up and had fun anyway. Loved the people but would try somewhere else next time. It didn't even occur to try and get out if it. Good to know that's an option.

no need to apologise, you guys werent divas at all. but i appreciate how humble and just conscientious you guys are. i had a similar experience recently with a hotel abroad, but decided to ride it out and it ended up not being so bad, its a fun memory. In your situation you did the right thing, I wouldn't have stayed at that place and from the sounds of it it was a scam, even if you didnt say the word. long story short, you guys are awesome, we love you. stay safe, have fun, and dont worry so much! x
We went to St Maarten about 10 years ago, and the people were so friendly there. We absolutely loved it. Also, 2 natives helped save my daughters' lives due to a near-drowning. My older daughter has stayed in touch with someone from there. The island was absolutely devastated by a hurricane a few years ago, and the hotel we stayed in still isn't finished (it had to be completely rebuilt). We still hope to return someday. It really is a special place.

I'm going to st maarten in December for the first time... Out of curiosity I looked for some travel vlogs and came across yours! So glad i did. I normally don't watch travel vloggers because its hard to distinguish between people who can travel because their PARENTS have money, or if they're true nomads like yourself who earn money while on the road, without trying to SELL something! Ill be scrolling through facebook and see advertisements from young nomads like yourself with a very vague message about quitting your job and being able to work wherever. You guys are just like "hey this is what we wanna do, here are our adventures"

I so relate to you around minute 12. Reminds me of when we were on a cruise had an overnight stay in bali. Realized how much I hate having to take a tender back and forth ( waited 1.5 hrs to get off ship) . We booked a Airbnb last minute on tender on our way to shore (Google Fi is the real MVP) . I remember walking down a weird dark street to get to our place afraid we were lost late at night in a foreign country. Luckily we found it and it was beautiful.
airbnb is so amazing. I have so many stories of them rescueing me. Recently, a plug broke in Ukraine and begin to smoke. They told me leave. The Ukraine man wanted to get me to buy him new hot water heater. No way, airbnb stood by me. The pictures proved it was old soviet union. It was a $9 a day entire apartment and it back fired on me being cheap. I have always be able to reason with airbnb and not get stiffed. I understand wanting a room to work. I am writing my 7th book and cant do it in a place non inspiring. If the work environment isnt right I cant be creative. The upgrade was nice. cover photo is so gorgeous! we had a similar issue happen to us (not with airbnb) but a poorly advertised bungalow in thailand...we left the next morning, no refund, but i didnt care! sometimes escape at all costs is necessary!
This has happened quite a few times to me as well, but airbnb support has been great to help out! I've even had hosts before that have communicated well and then not be anywhere to be seen when we show up.
Omg the same thing just happened to me this week with an airb&b listing! The owner misrepresented the amount of bedrooms, the location and we found a hidden camera that wasn’t listed! Be safe y’all! Loved the blog as always, currently planning a Europe tour and your videos are coming in handy 💪🏼💕
Omg you replied!! Heyyy! After we filed a formal customer complaint and took plenty of photos as proof, the listing is no longer up...so let’s hope they will need to verify the profile before they can rent the space out again 😬 super scary for sure but on our end airb&b customer support was quite easy to deal with and very helpful! Turned out multiple profiles had this house listed as well with different account names and some not so great reviews.. very weird for sure I’ll deff make sure to book all my airb&b’s a little more carefully from now on haha!

If there is one place this could have happened to you, I am glad it was in St. Maarten, its probably one of the most safest and nicest islands I have ever been to! I felt completely safe walking around the area at like 2 in the morning.

Awesome video and I agree, the support team at AirBnb is amazing. I also travel full time (not a vlogger though) and I use AirBnb and Booking.com ALL the time. I got into a bad situation in Cambodia with a hotel I was in and the management was HORRIBLE and rude. I gave them every opportunity to resolve the issue politely to no avail. Finally, I contacted Booking support and they in turn contacted the hotel, resolved my problem, got me a full refund, and even followed up with me later on. So, I wanted to post a shout-out to the team at Booking too! Glad things got sorted for you two, love watching your adventures. Mine are not quite as dramatic but I enjoy just chilling with the locals for weeks at a time while I write. Looking forward to your next video with great anticipation!

Yeah considering the listing was not at all as advertised you had every right to cancel, I'm glad airbnb helped out, I like their support as well. I can understand as a host myself it sucks when someone tries to cancel, but in this case you were totally in the right, and the host should've been much more understanding, but good thing you were in touch with Airbnb and you got a good amount of credit! :) That's always a bonus!
Traveling is full of hassles and you just have to have patience or the stress will get to you. I've flown half way around the world and have encountered lost reservations, overbooked hotels, transit strikes, and even major typhoons. Good planning only takes you so far because stuff happens. Kara and Nate have the perfect attitude towards these types of problems and take everything in stride. I have traveled from time to time with work colleagues who are a lot less patient and understanding, which made things a lot worse. Kara and Nate were lucky to have found in each other, perfect travel companions.

You don't have to apologize. I love how humble you guys are and that you do apologize because you don't want to seem like divas or to offend anyone. But the point of the matter was - you never said anything bad about that AirBnB other than it's not what you expected and it wasn't really suitable for the work you intended to do there. Glad you were able to talk to the support team and get out of it and find somewhere else to stay at the last minute. You guys are always so positive and make the best of bad situations!
You guys have inspired me so much to want to travel around the world, and open a business. You guys are the greatest. When the year is up and you have spent the last hour in your 100th destination, you should reflect back on the past year's that made it all possible whether it be the family your friends or the TH-cam watches that made it all possible. Keep up the hard work and dedication. I'll be cheering you guys on!! And when I open my business you should definitely come for a visit! Love you guys!

I always have a laugh at at your organised chaos at airports. 13 minutes before boarding and Kara's pressing the elevator button to go to a lounge! Brilliant. I'd be rushing for the gate. Maybe I need to chill a bit, and adopt the Kara+Nate approach to airports.

My parents and I had a bad experience with hosts with Airbnb, we were staying in Anna Maria Island Fl with family friends and we didn’t want to intrude any longer so we had booked a home about 45 minutes away. When we got there the house had no AC during the first week of July in southern Florida, (not good) but as you said Airbnb’s support team was AMAZING!! I’m glad they are so wonderful especially to those in another country, I’m glad you got it all figured out!! Much love from Chattanooga 💞
You totally don't have to explain. I am a person who is only productive when the environment is right. I need clean, cool and lots of natural light! I work from home too and this is essential to my productivity. We totally get it Nate! You had every right to leave :)

Nate and Kara, I was formally a flight attendant with united and delta. These air bnb's should provide an adequate stay, if they don't you are entitled to a refund. After having my 2nd cancer surgery in 2021 (ovarian cancer) and with the pandemic, I haven't traveled since 2019 and 2013 for international travel. We'll I'm heading to Las Vegas and staying in an air bnb 5 minutes from the strip in a house dirt cheap but very nice. I told the lady with the air bnb , wonderful you have a coffee maker. My motto have coffee will travel. The air bnb host said. Coffee is Life. Amen to that! Have happy, Safe travels.🤗🛫✈️

I've only booked with Airbnb once and I'd say it was an ok experience even though the room had some issues. It was in Mexico and the apartment had a real mildew issue and there was a bad smell we just couldn't get rid of. The windows opened to an interior corridor so there was really no where for the moisture (from years of showers and wet bathing suits) to go. Once you were in you got used to it but it would be noticeable every time you got in. We bought some air freshener but it didn't help. The host was lovely and helped us a lot during our stay. We were going for cheap and cheerful so we just sucked it up and had fun anyway. Loved the people but would try somewhere else next time. It didn't even occur to try and get out if it. Good to know that's an option.
I felt sorry that u had to endure that Airbnb. But so glad u ended up where u did. Gr8 watching. Keep em coming. I’m hooked now on ur travels and as a family we enjoy binge watching with our popcorn in hand watching on the 85”s of tv. Lov Lov Lov ur travel content. Mwah. Safe travels Kara and Nate.
no need to apologise, you guys werent divas at all. but i appreciate how humble and just conscientious you guys are. i had a similar experience recently with a hotel abroad, but decided to ride it out and it ended up not being so bad, its a fun memory. In your situation you did the right thing, I wouldn't have stayed at that place and from the sounds of it it was a scam, even if you didnt say the word. long story short, you guys are awesome, we love you. stay safe, have fun, and dont worry so much! x
We went to St Maarten about 10 years ago, and the people were so friendly there. We absolutely loved it. Also, 2 natives helped save my daughters' lives due to a near-drowning. My older daughter has stayed in touch with someone from there. The island was absolutely devastated by a hurricane a few years ago, and the hotel we stayed in still isn't finished (it had to be completely rebuilt). We still hope to return someday. It really is a special place.

You are not diva's :) You're entitled to not like a place you book or in this case didn't book! No shame in that especially if you're going to be inside working. You guys are so positive all the time and showing you're not happy with something shows you're both honest and real!

I'm going to st maarten in December for the first time... Out of curiosity I looked for some travel vlogs and came across yours! So glad i did. I normally don't watch travel vloggers because its hard to distinguish between people who can travel because their PARENTS have money, or if they're true nomads like yourself who earn money while on the road, without trying to SELL something! Ill be scrolling through facebook and see advertisements from young nomads like yourself with a very vague message about quitting your job and being able to work wherever. You guys are just like "hey this is what we wanna do, here are our adventures"

I so relate to you around minute 12. Reminds me of when we were on a cruise had an overnight stay in bali. Realized how much I hate having to take a tender back and forth ( waited 1.5 hrs to get off ship) . We booked a Airbnb last minute on tender on our way to shore (Google Fi is the real MVP) . I remember walking down a weird dark street to get to our place afraid we were lost late at night in a foreign country. Luckily we found it and it was beautiful.
airbnb is so amazing. I have so many stories of them rescueing me. Recently, a plug broke in Ukraine and begin to smoke. They told me leave. The Ukraine man wanted to get me to buy him new hot water heater. No way, airbnb stood by me. The pictures proved it was old soviet union. It was a $9 a day entire apartment and it back fired on me being cheap. I have always be able to reason with airbnb and not get stiffed. I understand wanting a room to work. I am writing my 7th book and cant do it in a place non inspiring. If the work environment isnt right I cant be creative. The upgrade was nice. Your journey reminded me of so many problems I have had traveling over the years. Happy Valentines day from an American in Ukraine. God bless you both

cover photo is so gorgeous! we had a similar issue happen to us (not with airbnb) but a poorly advertised bungalow in thailand...we left the next morning, no refund, but i didnt care! sometimes escape at all costs is necessary!

This has happened quite a few times to me as well, but airbnb support has been great to help out! I've even had hosts before that have communicated well and then not be anywhere to be seen when we show up.
Omg the same thing just happened to me this week with an airb&b listing! The owner misrepresented the amount of bedrooms, the location and we found a hidden camera that wasn’t listed! Be safe y’all! Loved the blog as always, currently planning a Europe tour and your videos are coming in handy 💪🏼💕

Omg you replied!! Heyyy! After we filed a formal customer complaint and took plenty of photos as proof, the listing is no longer up...so let’s hope they will need to verify the profile before they can rent the space out again 😬 super scary for sure but on our end airb&b customer support was quite easy to deal with and very helpful! Turned out multiple profiles had this house listed as well with different account names and some not so great reviews.. very weird for sure I’ll deff make sure to book all my airb&b’s a little more carefully from now on haha!

If there is one place this could have happened to you, I am glad it was in St. Maarten, its probably one of the most safest and nicest islands I have ever been to! I felt completely safe walking around the area at like 2 in the morning.

Awesome video and I agree, the support team at AirBnb is amazing. I also travel full time (not a vlogger though) and I use AirBnb and Booking.com ALL the time. I got into a bad situation in Cambodia with a hotel I was in and the management was HORRIBLE and rude. I gave them every opportunity to resolve the issue politely to no avail. Finally, I contacted Booking support and they in turn contacted the hotel, resolved my problem, got me a full refund, and even followed up with me later on. So, I wanted to post a shout-out to the team at Booking too! Glad things got sorted for you two, love watching your adventures. Mine are not quite as dramatic but I enjoy just chilling with the locals for weeks at a time while I write. Looking forward to your next video with great anticipation!

Yeah considering the listing was not at all as advertised you had every right to cancel, I'm glad airbnb helped out, I like their support as well. I can understand as a host myself it sucks when someone tries to cancel, but in this case you were totally in the right, and the host should've been much more understanding, but good thing you were in touch with Airbnb and you got a good amount of credit! :) That's always a bonus!
The second place was well worth it, after being disappointed at the 1st. Love your travels Kara & Nate.
Traveling is full of hassles and you just have to have patience or the stress will get to you. I've flown half way around the world and have encountered lost reservations, overbooked hotels, transit strikes, and even major typhoons. Good planning only takes you so far because stuff happens. Kara and Nate have the perfect attitude towards these types of problems and take everything in stride. I have traveled from time to time with work colleagues who are a lot less patient and understanding, which made things a lot worse. Kara and Nate were lucky to have found in each other, perfect travel companions.
