  • This video shows the 3 common methods that used to operate a DC load directly to solar panel without using battery and charge controller. Different method has its advantage and disadvantage. DC direct application is the cheapest method of Solar PV System without the need of expensive battery and charge controller. For more information, you can check it out at my blog post.

    Simple question. I want a mobile charging option without battery involved. I have a 60w portable panel and 10 amp mppt controller. Can I just connect the controller to a car cigarette socket and use the usb ports? Will the current be stabilized by the controller and car charger, and would the controller be damaged by not being connected to a battery?

    This is great video. One question on disadvantages of "direct connection to load" approach at time 1:43. How would it be lowest efficiency or load operating under-powered. I'm thinking it's the other way, can you please clarify?

      The efficeincy of the solar panel is reduced because the load will pull the voltage of the panel to way below it's maximum power point unless the load is small in comparison the to panel's output - in which case the panel's voltage may go high enough to damage the equipment connected to it (I burned out a fan this way!).

    Hi nice video. What method would you suggest to power a trolling motor of 12V 36A(max). The solar panel i am planning on getting is 18V isc 2A. should i connect it directly or is there a better way to not lose power and ofc with no battery. Will the speed controller setup work on this? planning to power my inflatable kayak.

      Hi, since your panel is way smaller compared to your motor, I suggest you to use battery instead. The solar panel can slowly charge your battery when not in use.

    Very interesting @Solarduino, I connected a DC pump direct. The pump will even disconnect when there is a cloud and voltage is too low. But it reconnects too early. Is there a system that can delay the reconnect until there is full sun again?

    • @solarduino1374
      @solarduino1374  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, for this requirement, normally a micro controller is needed such as Arduino. The concept may be using Arduino and sense the irradiance, upon the irradiance reached a threshold / level, it then turn on the switch. However, this will cause alot of other components and wiring involved. If want everything to be simple, direct connection is the choice. Hope it explains.

    Have you ever seen a problem like I have? Hook a 50 watt panel to a Bgears 70 computer fan up
    to a solar heater and the fan only runs when I stand in front of the panel. All the connections
    are tight. I hooked the red to red and black to black wires. It has a yellow wire for ground
    but I haven't grounded it. If you have and ideas please let me know. Thank you.

    For type 3
    Is it safe to operate devices in higher voltage than rated?
    Can I place a buck converter before pwm input to regulate the voltage so that I will not over volt the device?
    When you say we cannot oversize the panel meaning the Current or the watt rating?
    Example 550w panel 17amps
    Can only be used for less than 550w devices or less than 17amp devices?

    • @solarduino1374
      @solarduino1374  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, for non electronics like motor you do not need to step down due to the reason voltage will auto drop when there is operation current. Cannot oversized the panel means by means of both wattage and current compare to your load as the pwm don't regulate power like cc buck converter. I have not tried adding converter before the PWM; It might work. Hope it explains.

    Hi. Can combine it to the house db? Sharing power to the house

    • @solarduino1374
      @solarduino1374  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, yes you can, but have to connect through an on-grid inverter that can synchronise with your utility grid. There is a type of mini on grid inverter which you can connect few panels to it and directly connected to house electrical network via wall socket/plug. It is a lot safer than connecting to DB. Kindly take note on grid pv system may be illegal for some countries if install by yourself or may need a permit..

    Hi brother can i ask a question why isc of the solar panel must be lower than the load thank you

    • @priestesslucy3299
      @priestesslucy3299 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because the ISC being lower than the limit of the load protects that equipment from being damaged by too much power input

    • @solarduino1374
      @solarduino1374  ปีที่แล้ว
