  • In today’s episode, Dr. Lynch and I discuss the significance of the MTHFR gene, which is responsible for producing the most active form of folate in our bodies, known as methylfolate. Dr. Lynch emphasizes the importance of methylation, a process that methylfolate supports, which is crucial for various bodily functions including DNA repair, detoxification, and neurotransmitter synthesis.
    A significant portion of our conversation revolves around the detrimental effects of folic acid, a synthetic form of folate that can actually worsen health issues for those with MTHFR variants. Dr. Lynch provides compelling evidence on why we should avoid folic acid and opt for natural food sources of folate or supplements with methylfolate.
    We also touched upon the relationship between MTHFR variants and mental health. Dr. Lynch shares how imbalances in methylation can lead to mental health issues and the importance of maintaining optimal levels of homocysteine for mental well-being.

    How many mg of acetyl Glutathione per day do we need? And gosh...I was taking a methylated B complex every day and I have really bad joint and muscular pains...I never knew this pain can be caused by too much B vitamins.

    Have ok homocysteine, but react to some ingrediants or meds . MTHFR enzyme effected by . Did have mold exposure after a roof leak and lost weight and Mom had stroke and heart attack. NAC might help? or other glutathiones, guessing experiment. Rarely get ill anymore but a little tired most of time (feel bad from heat) . Vite B1 helps greatly also but only tiny bits a few times a week or worse crash(think it uses up B2). HS-CRP, ESR are always low, so wonder other labs for inflammation.

    I had dna testing done and I was told I should not take methylated versions of b12 or folate. I was told I should take adenosylcobalamin and folinic acid. I heard Ben talk about folinic acid in a different discussion, but not adenosylcobalamin. I wish those had come up in this discussion.

    • @cornypinkuni9519

      North American wheat products as these are "fortified" with cheap garbage synthetic folic acid which is harmful to methylation system whether or not people have variants of mthfr related genes

    • @cornypinkuni9519
      @cornypinkuni9519 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Basically anything that says enriched or fortified is problematic for carriers of both those gene variants. Consider that carrier a Lamborghini that need high quality fuel rather than a dump truck that can run on garbage fuel.

      Since I have been taking ALL the VitB's I can eat carbs. The combination of too much fat and carbs will make you fat and sick. I'm losing weight eating 80% carbs. Some saturated fat.
      Look into B2. Also look up Georgi Dinkov.
